In the course of beating the game I received one gold dropped from a Charr in the Charr homelands and one gold from an end-game dungeon chest. I never open chests with keys or lockpicks so there might have been more in there too.

Golds definitely do exist in the game, therefore the thread title is false and misleading.

The gold drops in GW:EN? No really,.... there are gold drops in GW:EN?



That should tell ya how bad my luck has been. Consistant brocken picks for purples.....I am averaging close to 1 gold drop for every 10/11 picks. Won't be long till I dont get any gold drops because buying picks for purples is just insane.

They really went overboard with the drop rates it seams, sure it's rediculous to want all golds, but even 1 in 5 be better.

completed eotn yesterday afternoon, blew through 20 lockpicks (50-something percent chance to retain the lockpick, my ass!) and got a whopping 1 gold from a chest and 1 gold from a monster drop. everything else was purple.

what gives? i got golds out the wazoo during the first day of the preview, then it declined to grape-o-rama on sunday.

Had 1 gold Greater Sage Blade drop yesterday. The rest of all my drops where whites with maybe 2-3 blues.

Absolute crap grape chest drops so far with a lost of 32 lockpicks, 80% of which broke on the first try. LOL...at least my Unlucky title is rising.

I've not gotten any gold drops through the Norn and Vanguard parts. I've gotten 4 or 5 from locked chest, and 1 from a dungeon-end chest.

I got some unique scythe yesterday, and shortly before finishing got some gold axe with a weird skin

I will say this, gold drops are about the same from mobs....but purple drops are alot higher I seem to get a fair amount of purples.


Though thats just me since I H+H I'm used to rarly getting golds/greens except when wurm farming.

Personally i don't know what you're talking about. Myself and 2 guildies went through the last parts of the norn and the entire charr areas and in the span of 4 hours and got about 7 gold drops (no chest usage). Maybe we're just lucky, but we got a more than fair share of golds.

Ive goten a few gold drops but my chests have been pretty even. except for the freaking awesome max req 9 felblade that a chest droped i feel leet

2 gold dropped for me & got 2 golds out of chests using 1 lockpick

i have had amazing drops.. anet is just like .. throwing them at me.i got 3 golds and i was the only human there except for my hench and heros. it's just .. weird because there's so many people playing.

i've had i think 3 golds drop for me off mobs, but the locked chests are painful to use.

i bought 10 lockpicks as soon as i saw they were locked chests, not keys or whatnot, 3 of them retained which is always nice, but whats not is that 12/13 of the chests i opened gave me purples. now i understand risk/reward but this is pushing it i think...

still the starfish focus looks funky xD

almost finished the game and the only gold drop i got is a req13 brute sword

Eagerly I tried it on to see what it looked like and identified it with glee. No mods but at least in inscription slot - then it dawned on me. Damage 14-20 - utter shite.

Only use is as a caster sword, so maybe my little used 55 will get a shiny new toy - either that or I will go outside and indignantly drop it in protest .

i agree with the lad that said somthing along the lines of it being overfarmed.

maybe as a test somone could do 30-60 min in eloan or cantha, and compare it to 30-60 min in gwen, as most likly alot of people that have ghwen are roughly same area, or farming norn points and that
