First of all I'd like to know what you guys think works the best for PvE-usage. For example, going with a Sup Swordsmanship rune to get max 16 stats or using a Major Swordsmanship rune?
I use a Sup rune for my helm to get the max 16 for my weapon but do you guys think that I should change it and use a Major rune instead?
Thank you and I look forward to reading your responses.
EDIT: I forgot about my weapon set that added health too. At the time I was wielding a +HP (while Stanced) shield. But with a +30hp shield and +30 Sword Pommel I have 506 health. So I guess my health is fine.
Sup or Major Runes?

Personally, I usually just pick one attribute and use a Sup rune for that. For some farming builds or other people's preferences, two major runes are be used instead.
Random bit of info: Axes supposedly outdamage swords at 11 or higher in the mastery due to the critical hit damage. I tend to like Swordsmanship more anyway :P

I'd say 500 health is a good amount to have. A lot of people like sup rune on headpiece while another good amount of people prefer minors all over the place.
If a lot of people you play with regularly have minors then i suggest going for 550-600+ health.
Swordwarriors are nice for that:
480base+30sword+30shield+50vigor= 590hp
You could add a rune of vitae somewhere.
The reason you want to have a similar amount of health as your partymembers is your monks and what partymembers expect you to do.
If your monks are used to healing a party with an average 600hp per member then they may not respond quickly enough to ZB or WoH you when you get below 50% health or they might throw a heal on you and overheal, making them waste energy.
For PvE, defense insignias and halth upgrades on your weaponry.
For PvP, depends on your team.
So to conclude: I'd keep it above 500hp, rune yourself to reach that =X

I have two types of armor sets for my war. One gladiator +energy type that has
+energy runes instead of attribute which I use for energy based builds and running.
The second type has three supers, ie: Super Absorb, Super Sword, Super Tactics. I prefer raw power over health with war. A good prot/heal back-line should be able to manage you even if you're -150 health.
The only other classes I use super for is Necro fro Death and Ele for Fire, the rest I use all minor runes.

Obviously the question is whether one can afford the health loss. And as said before, one sup shouldn't make a scrap of difference in survival if you know what you're doing.
