Norn Fighting Tourney! Share you tips and tricks!

I used the two rit weapon spells that steal health when you take damage (one was elite) and that helped a little... there's only a few I ran into and couldn't defeat with that build.

I beat the tourney easily with my ranger with this bar
Burning Arrow
Distracting Shot
Savage Shot
Pin Down
Troll Unguent
Mend Touch
Screaming Shot/Natural Stride/Finish Him
Apply Poison

At Bison pin down run around and degen him to death try to interrupt purge, if you cant then troll and kite until pin down recharges,I only had problem with Tydus if he interrupts my Mend Touch but then i just dodge his arrows until I regen to full health.

I used a Vengeful was Khanei farming build...

Riposte, Deadly Riposte, Vengeful Weapon, VwK, Heal Sig, Soothing Memories, Signet of Stamina, Dolyak Signet

I beat it on my second try, only because I ran into Cynn the first time, and she out heals me. Second try I had a bit of trouble with Talon, but I eventually spiked him hard enough before he could use Healing Signet. Wait for casters like Lo Sha to blow all their energy and start wanding you, you can whittle them down then.

for warrior: AP + riposte and some sword skills = win.

lately i've been having problems. did anyone else notice that opponents are getting healed during fight? (not using their own skills)

I can get up to bison on my paragon, with some "wammo" like skills "Finalize Restoration" "Mending Refrain" + "GfTE" spam but bison is hammering me down. I'm thinking that i need some Melee Wards from Earth & Sliver Armor combined - maybe that will work.. With "You move like a Dwarf" you can interrupt the bear form at the start of the fight if your fast enough. Will post my build when i beat him -.-

edit: as for the crowd, yes they heal but it's like a Gladiator thingy. Impress them by doing enough damage and they'll heal you instead of the opponent. I had one match that was like 50/50 but after a while of pounding, i was getting more heals from them. It's perfectly normal imo.

The healing seems random. There are games where I will not be healed at all, yet in others I will run around the edges and get a few heals during a game.

I have been healed by crowd yes. Quite some heals of 180hp.

I used (on my A) Golden Fox Strike, Temple Strike, Horx of the Ox, Falling Spider, Twisting Fangs combo
Crit agility and crit defenses is a must

I was using Moebius + Death Blossom (with CA+CD+WoP) on my Assassin... and it works well for most enemies.... but any serious anti-melee casters can defeat it.... and the likes of Norgu (Empathy) and more particularly Eve (Spiteful Spirit, Reckless Haste and Insidious Parasite) can completely devastate it.


I'm strongly considering trying my good old-fashioned Illusionary Daggers build to see if it works.

Psych's dervish build didn't work for me (can't kill anyone who blinds because they just reapply so quickly; can't damage them enough in time)... does anyone have a suggestion for a good derv build?

easiest way to kill everything in Norn Tournament:

Elementalist/Assasin

12+4 Fire magic
12 Shadow Mastery
3+2 Energy Storage

Skills:
1. Glyph of Concentration
2. Shadow Form
3. Meteor Shower
4. Bed of Coals
5. Phoenix
6. Flame Djinn Haste
7. Dark Escape
8. Optional

It Kills everyone <15 seconds but Magni which takes 2 rounds to be killed.

My Warrior Build:

W/N

12+4 swordsmanship
10+1 tactics
8+1 strength
2 curses

Grenths Balance
Riposte
Deadly Riposte
Sever Artery
Gash
Plague Touch
Envenom Enchantments
Endure Pain

Works like a charm =D
Only ones that are kind of tough are Eve and Sogolon.

and a tip to beating M Bison.. just run around in circles till he changes out of bear form then put a whoopin on him

I use a packhunter build with a ranger - spear/shield/pet combo works well. Using poisonous bite and blazing spear you can get a lot of degen, but the best advice i can give to any non-melee character going for Magni is:

You Move Like a Dwarf!


use it, stand on other side of arena, blast him away, rinse and repeat.

the second gold line near door is perfect for spirited no agro and they hit

The healing dwarf, which is sometimes present, is located, in my experience, on the right stand. So if you locate yourself between the stand and your opponent, you are the one that gets healed.

With this help and the W/N-build mentioned in this thread before, i am able to win all the times.

hm... looks like this grenths balance build is the real deal....

You get healed from the crowd from one person and it is a Heal Other, but the enemy can get healed from him too so it kinda sucks.

To all the people who are talking about elusive healing, here is what it is:

The Dwarf on the Right side twoard your opponent is using Infuse Health and Heal Other. I took a Survival build in several times to verify this, and I've only seen this NPC do it. He seems to randomly use it on your opponent and you, which doesn't make sense because since you are both enemies and all NPCs must have a side, it doesn't make sense that he can heal you both.

This leads me to believe that this is a bug.

~Edit, Arenanet has confirmed on another thread that the healing is a bug and they are working on it. It's located in the Riverside Inn section.
