Hi Everyone,
I'm new to Factions and in the Manuscript book they show a Panda Bear alongside a Ritualist. Is this a pet in the game or an enemy. I can't seem to find out anything about it?
Most Appreciative,

The panda was originally going to be a pet in factions but for some reason anet couldn't put it in the game as a charmable pet.

They made it into a mini pet. Don't mean to ruin your dreams, but there's no chance you will ever get one unless you give up your real life and farm like mad.

It wasn't put in because it's against the law and/or customs or something for any panda to be harmed in some countries where GW is sold, even if that harm happening to them is just in a video game.

So to answer your question, OP, no you will never see a panda pet capable of receiving damage or being hurt in any way in GW.

There is some bizarre law in China banning all depictions of violence against pandas, even virtual violence. Seriously. Since GW sells in China, they decided it was easier to not make the pet at all. However, minipets can't be killed, so they're ok.

LOL that's a funny comment Zeek about the farm.

How do I go about getting a mini pet?

i think ALL animals on the endagered species list cannot be killed in a video game.

so that'd rule out a few animals.
+the panda has some cultural significence in china

That's pretty silly. I dare say if you look hard enough, you could eventually gather up enough people offended by something to eventually prove everything is offensive to someone somewhere at some point.

I assume it was an economic decision based on government officials in China saying the game couldn't be sold there unless it was changed. I sure hope they don't just randomly change things that offend a select group.

Pandering to political correctness is just plain retarded! How is a videogame's depiction of violence against a panda any different from the same depiction of violence against a white tiger?

Search the modding thread for a mod that replaces black bears with pandas.

You should really investigate the situation to a much deeper level instead of making cliche ignorant comments.

It is not political correctness. It is actual LAW. Meaning, ANet cannot sell their MMO to the BIGGEST MMO industry in the world - China.

And describing the attitude of China towards pandas as being 'political correctness' reeks of ignorance. That is like saying India does not eat beef because they have a 'meat is murder' attitude.
