My GWEN Earth Ele (Vekk)
Pericles
Hey,
i've come up with an earth-ele build for Vekk and i'd like to see what earth-builds other people run so i can adjust my build a bit.
E/any
Armor: i dunno, i'm not very experienced with eles
Weapons: read above
Atts: 12+1+3 earth magic
12+1 energy storage
Skills:
1 [ Unknown Skill: unsteady ground ]- i think every1 agrees with me that this is most suitable earth elite (better than sandstorm), and i probably won't change this.
2. [ Unknown Skill: Eruption ]- i like the blinding effect and it also does decent damage, you could swap this out for churning earth but i find eruption better.
3. [ Unknown Skill: ebon hawk ] or [ Unknown skill: stoning ]: when i have an SS necro with enfeebling blood with me i run stoning but otherwise it's ebon hawk, they both deal good damage and are spammeable although stoning may be a bit energy heavy.
4. With a human grp i use [ Unknown Skill: Ward against foes ] but with henchies i use [ Unknown Skill: Ward against melee ] as they can't kite as well.
5. [ Unknown Skill: Ward against elements ]- this is absolutely necessary as with the release of EotN i find that there's a lot of dangerous AoE elemental damage (for example the char flame shielders)
6. [ Unknown Skill: Earth Attunement ]- your passive e-management.
7. [ Unknown Skill: Glyph of lesser energy ]- your active e-management.
8. Rez chant, or sometimes i tend to use [ Unknown Skill: glyph of elemental power ] which is pretty useful after its buff.
Useage:
Erm, I think this is pretty straight forward. I'm not a fan of stone daggers so I left that out.
Final note:
Plz feel free to suggest new things and share your builds, the only things i'd not like is a Sandstorm-UG discussion.
I hope the skills display worked out, if it didn't could the second poster plz put the skills into icons? thx in advance.

Come on guys, is nobody running earth builds in GWEN? plz post your earth builds and give me advice on this one. I was thinking of using the GWEN skill:
Ward of Weakness, looks pretty nice, though this would mean you'd be standing very close to the enemy melee-classes which isn't very good.

Ward against Elements is definitely worth taking in the Earth Magic line. There are loads of elementalist foes out there.
I've always loved Eruption and Unsteady Ground in earth builds, however, on the occsisions when I choose to take Sandstorm (which comes in VERY handy when going up against groups of melee damage dealers such as Quetzel (tengu) from the jungle, I like to take Dragon's Stomp to use on them as they're about the run out of the AoE, to keep them in it a little longer.
Ebon Hawk...hmm, I'm undecided about that one. I've never known whether to like it or not.
One combination I have found to be VERY fun is Ward of Weakness and Stoning. It's VERY easy to weaken melee attackers with that, and then knock them down with Stoning every 5 seconds. Glowstone would also come in handy for additional energy management. I generally lay down Ward of Weakness, let a band of warriors come at me, cast eruption, and stone them all Mass weakness from the ward and AoEs makes Livia happy...she likes Oppressive Gaze. I guess using Glyph of Swiftness here would come in handy, I really should try that out sometime.

I quite like ward of weariness, your melee dont really need weakened anyway so you just plant it on your casters. Then you can just staff/wand enemies for on demand weakness. I usually add in Ward Against Melee, Eruption, Sandstorm and Churning Earth to my normal Earth AoE Build.
Str0b0
I've been playing around with magnetic surge. It does really nice damage, especially to backline monks since they tend to enchant themselves.

I love Magnetic Surge also, one fantastic aspect of Earth Magic is it's ability to dish out Armor Ignoring damage. Magnetic Surge is very useful considering a LOT of Charr use Conjure Flame, and many monsters outwith the Charr Lands seem to be Dervishes. -_-

With Ward of Weariness you definitely should not take Ebon Hawk.
If you have a Curse Necro with you, let him provide Weakness and rather use STONING and/or MAGNETIC SURGE (nice skill effect and very effective).
GLOWSTONE looks nice on paper, but on most Warder builds you do not have energy problems and I usually have a hard time to squeeze it into the build.
This was my Warder build before GWEN. Replace Glowstone with a Rez, forgot to update the Template:

As I usually play with a Necro I suggest replacing Glowstone with Magnetic Surge and Ebon Hawk with Ward against Elements. Replace ERUPTION with a Rez if you use it on a hero or disable it.

My Earth build for GW:EN is Herta. It might not be the best Earth build out there, but it's decent enough and saves me a hero slot.
MBP
I started a Earth/Warder thread for EoTN here but it did kind of get out of hand. Try to ignore the arguing and look at the helpful suggestions.
As for a straight Earth ele build I found this one from guildwiki to work well enough http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:E/..._Ground_Warder
In addition Vekk came with an air magic build therefore he's an air ele and works with air better.
Zhed Shadowhoof from NF came with earth magic on his bar so he'd be a better hero choice for running earth spells. I don't know if everyone feels this way about hereos but that's for another thread.

Herta is very nice, but so is Unsteady Ground.

For Vekk, I run this Blinding Surge build:
Air Variant: Elementalist Mesmer
Attributes: 16 Air, 12 Energy Storage, 6 Inspiration
Skills:
[skill]Glyph of Lesser Energy[/skill][skill]Blinding Surge[/skill][skill]Enervating Charge[/skill][skill][/skill]Energy Blast[skill]Auspicious Incantation[/skill][skill]Lightning Hammer[/skill][skill]Air Attunement[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]
Very handy for neutralizing melee and ranger threats -- they can't hit what they can't see. Makes anti-destroyer missions a LOT easier. Just make sure you have a BiP nec maintaining his energy levels.
