A lot of people seem to be having trouble collecting destroyer cores without it taking forever. I've seen people say they only seem to get 1 destroyer core every 3 hours and others say they got 10 destroyer cores easily and some people have even obtained 250 destroyer cores in 3 days.
Given that 10 destroyer cores are needed for the Destructive Research quest to get that Light of Deldrimor skill everyone wants to try, and that 250 destroyer cores are needed for Destroyer Gauntlets (magma-looking gloves) a lot of people would probably appreciate any tips on where to farm destroyers so that it doesn't take an eternity to get a decent number of destroyer cores.
Obviously, using the A Gate Too Far quest has you encounter a lot of destroyers, but they don't seem to drop many items at all (perhaps because of the 3 Norn helping out in the quest) and there's always doing the Raven's Point dungeon repeatedly to kill the destroyers there, but it's not exactly fast to get to the destroyers there and therefore it isn't really an efficient destroyer farm run.
Anyone want to post a good place to farm destroyers, a destroyer-farming build, or even just suggest a possible location for people to farm destroyers? I haven't had much luck (only have 4) but so far Raven's Point has been the only success I have had in getting destroyer cores, and I can share that even at dwarven rank 2, Snowstorm is pretty handy for killing them if you snare them too

The repeatable primary quest Destruction's Depths have you fighting a ton of destroyers. You will usually find one or two cores in a 15 minute run.
I suspect that part of the problem is that people are trying to get destroyer cores without having gotten far enough to get the Destructive Depths quest (myself included) and with the destroyers available early in the game, it's just not enough destroyers repeatable fast enough to get the cores efficiently. And yes, they do seem to drop less, I got 2 in the preview weekend - 1 during Gate Too Far and 1 during Raven's Point, but since release I've only gotten 1 out of every 3 Raven's Point runs I've done and 0 out of several Gate Too Far runs
Off to do Heart of the Shiverpeaks now so I can get my cores afterwards

better off going with a full group, since the loot scaling will make them drop less if you solo. These items should really be exempted from loot scaling. ~_~

I agree there is no point soloing in NM because of loot scaling, and I'm not aware HM has started in GWEN yet.
I got 6 in the preview weekend but only one since full release. I didn't find any in a run through Raven's point/A Gate Too Far (where I found them in the preview) and several runs through the penultimate repeatable quest.
I've never had any drops at all in "The Great Destroyer" so I thought it was similar to Abaddon's gate (no drops) and gave up there. Can someone confirm if they'vegot a core there?

Indeed is weird.
I've farmed the d-core in preview weekend for dwarves mission with Olaf quest.
After preview, I had 0 cores.
Then started Gwen.
At the moment, I finished Gwen main story and I got 1 (ONE) core. O_O
Sic. I find that it is really a bit, considering that I made all the last quest kiling a lot of destroyer (and we were in 3 humans, and see 2 cores at all).

Not really in a good position to judge.... but I have one.
Don't even know what the Destroyer Gauntlets look like... but grinding for 250 of the damned cores is just silly.

But the loot is shared between the party, so if you're going with henchmen, chances are Mhenlo will be hoarding 90% of those cores. If you solo, then all of the drops will be for you. The best way to do it, is to get some friends that are willing to share them out. I managed to get the Glacial Guantlets in less than half an hour, with two friends that were helping me get them. But that was when they only needed 35.
Personally, I haven't had any trouble finding these things, I haven't even been looking, and I'm not even very far into the game, but I have around 20 of them. Seems you always get them when you're not looking, but then when you actually are..

Loot scaling.
You have 1/8th the party, the party gets 1/8th the white loot... and you personally get the same as if you'd gone in a full set of 8.... Mhenlo or not.

Funny enough, I got 12 of those cores drop for me, just by doing A gate to far, once during the preview. Almost sell them to the shop as well. :P So 10 for the quest, 2 left.....248 to go for the damn Gauntlets. Neat :P

Actually I don't think loot scaling applies in GW:EN...
During the preview I was soloing the Spectral Vaettirs and getting 4-5 glacial stones each zone, and almost every single Vaettir was dropping something. Certainly not loot-scaled...
Although I haven't tried after the preview.
And yes any profession can use the gloves, they have your profession's standard armor level and are inscribeable and runeable.

I noticed it during Kilroy's quest. I get an item from each monster, so it's very nice farm. Easy, fun and worth it (a lot of Survivor/Radiant runes, 300-500 each). And I almost always get a full sack of items. So yeah, I think loot scaling, hard mode and other few things that are in the chapters before GWEN don't exist.

I'm going make a guess and say that destroyer cores are a bugged drop and their rate is way lower than all the other drops are. Since yesterday I've killed about 350 destroyers by redoing the g.o.l.e.m quest three times and the first 3 levels of destructive depths twice and I have not gotten one damned destroyer core. Some people here finished the game and never got any destroyer cores or only got 1 by then, so that sounds about right considering how bad the drop rates are when I'm trying over and over to kill destroyers for destroyer cores.
In comparison, I'm getting plenty of superb charr carvings without even redoing any quests that involve killing charr. I got 5 from doing blood washes blood, 2 during against the charr, 7 from warband of brothers, 2 during what must be done, and 3 from assault on the stronghold. 19 superb charr carvings just from playing normally, and no destroyer cores at all from doing 5 quest runs that involve nothing other than killing destroyers constantly!! I also get decent drop rates of things like simian fur, amphibian tongue, quetzal crests, undead bones, skelk claws, skale fangs...anything where I kill at least 15 of a certain enemy I'll get a couple of their collectibles easily. I kill 75 undead and I get 4-5 undead bones. I kill 50 simians I get 4 simian furs. I kill approximately 350 destroyers, and get no destroyer cores. That's just wrong.
Either destroyer cores are bugged in that they rarely ever drop compared to the rate at which every other collectible items drop, or every single other collectible item is bugged in that they drop so much more often than destroyer cores do.

I've taken one and a half characters through the game and I've gotten 4 destroyer cores. I've completed Glint's Challenge twice... They don't drop nearly enough for my liking...then again, I've always been unlucky with drops such as those. If I didn't need them, they'd drop all the time. Such is life.

In Glints I got 1 core every 2-3 attempts, and that was with getting killed midway through 2nd wave every time. So there is hope..........
0 for me sice the start of Gwen.I will laugh my box off if this item is fixed and people realy did pay over 1k for them.

When I wrote the second comment in the thread, I had only done Destruction's Depths once, during which I got two cores. I have since then redone it a dozen times and gotten exactly zero cores. I have also finished Glint's Challenge enough times to clothe all the heroes and gotten a total of ONE core for all my trouble.
Their drop rate is lower than that of ecto, which is just wrong. I hope it is a bug.

anyway, i got 7 going through the game once, including ONE go of the Raven's Point Dungeon (I probalby only got 1 in there anyway).
however, i've seen people buying for as much as 2k...that makes destroyer glovse more expensive than chaos gloves, and that REALLY doesn't seem right.

Found 6 or so during preview weekend...sold them. Found 2 since GWEN went live. I don't think I will have the patience to get 250 to get a pair of gloves. Why all game making companies eventually get into grindfest?

I don't think this is a glitch at all.
I don't think it will "get fixed".
Destroyer Cores really are that rare. The only reason they can be considered "more rare than ecto" is because people are farming Ecto a lot these days. Killing Destroyers is easier and doesn't require an initial monetary investment... so even if their droprate is similar, it isn't as hard to accumulate them over time.
Just keep farming the damned things and eventually you'll get 250. It is just going to take a lot of time. Might as well max out your dwarven title while you're at it.

There are potentially three skills (Light of Deldrimor, Breath of the Great Dwarf, Alkar's Alchemical Acid) and one Armor of Salvation that are blocked by the requirement of 10 cores. Ive done Glints challenge 3x already with full human teams. I am convinced that ANET changed the drop rate between the preview and release. I have a total of 6 from casually playing over preview and 0 since release. With two characters now done with GWEN I can honestly say something is wrong here. Furthermore I'm finding a few other collectible items were loot scaled back.
