Nightfall question

I got the original GW on launch, same for Factions, but when Nightfall came out, I was in a bit of a lull.

I've just got GWEN, and I'm impressed by the strength of the story in the first part; the cutscenes blow away the crap that was in Factions. I'm almost through Factions' campaign and I find it really hard to care about whats going on, whereas in GWEN I'm really excited about whatever might be around the next corner.

Is Nightfall's PvE campaign told just as well?

In my humble oppinion not really. The enviroment isn't as fascinating as the other campaigns, as well the split storyline in Nightfall didnt play out as well as Faction's kurzick/luxon storyline's did.

Well, personally, I liked the NF story line. Your character is more involved in the story, as compared with Factions, where most of the NPCs do all the talking (Mhenlo even says "let me do the talking", to which I thought "when do *I* do the talking?") I also think the voice acting is better in NF than Factions. Togo and Danika still make me cringe. I'm a big fan of General Morghan. The guy who voiced him did a really good job. Varesh sometimes lacks the emphasis some lines warrent (like she's just phoning it in), but most others are pretty cool. My guildmate is pretty fond of Goren and Norgu. Well, that's my critique of the acting in NF. The story... is ok. It's better than most of the stuff in modern day factions, but I really liked the flashbacks with Shiro. Conjoured images of MacBeth (blasted fortune tellers!)

Interesting. I've heard from other people that the PvE aspect of Nightfall is pretty good. I thought Factions' was very poor compared to the original Prophecies campaign.

Nightfall's story is 1000x better than Factions, until the end. ><
I don't want to say more to spoil it for you. Also, as Is2r said, the environment goes from desert, to desert, to desolation, to demonic desert.

That could be an issue for me, though if the desert looks good, it probably won't matter

One of my problems with Factions is that so much of it takes place in Kaineng City, and apart from a few areas, I think it looks hideous.

Factions had a good story but it was poorly told.
Nightfall has a good story and it was told better than Factions.
EotN has a short and incomplete story and it was told on par with Nightfall.
Prophecies was the best.

My opinion ^^

the story line in factions sucked total balls, and was pointless long before you ever get out of the city... night fall's kept it's self moveing pretty well, and was told almost as good as prof's, without all the extra side crap. - they can never beet rurick getting owned, but NF is a decent second to it.

My opinion of factions was always very poor, and I'm really glad I didnt give up on GW because I enjoyed nightfall alot. I am a straight PvE player and Factions was very much geared towards the PvP side of things, or in the least an attempt to get more PvE players interested in PvP, While the content in nightfall had much more to offer the PvE player. The introduction of heroes alone was worth the money I spent on the game, and the dervish has got to be my favorite of the 4 non-core professions. The geography and scenery was at times a little uninspired but nowhere near as bleak as Kaining or as buttfrigginhideously ugly as the jade sea. The elite area is one of the most challenging thus far. I say cough up the dough for the game, I'd be surprised if you were dissapointed.
