Dungeon: Slavers Exile Thread

why is frozen soil so neccisary? havent tried it yet just wondering what rezzes and which portion of the dungeon its useful for.
Solveig Ikram
all dwarves uses rez!!! rez sig, fast cast res chant, etc.
pretty irritating to kill the same monk 5 times and then have a warrior being rezzed behind you to put a hammer through your head.

All of the dwarf mobs have a variety of resses, Reschant on Mesmers and Signet of Return on Warriors, plus a few ressigs. If you're running a low damage build you're going to have a lot of trouble keeping dwarves down without Frozen.

Can I ask how much enchantment stripping goes on inside this dungeon?
Mistress Peedo Bear
Just finished creating new pages and adding as much information as I could gather regarding the creatures and spawns in this dungeon to guildwiki. Took a bit of going through Stone Summit mobs over and over and over ><...They tend to die too fast. Some of their builds are incomplete, but it gives a fair idea of what to expect from the monsters.
There is a fair amount of enchantment removal from the random spawns of Spirits of Disenchantment. But as long as you deal with those, you're only facing enchantment removal from a few Stone Summit enemies.
Also, when my friend and I ran through, we noticed that although the skill description for Duncan says that it deals 100% of the damage inflicted to the source, it actually deals 200%. This was tested using Necrosis which deals armor-ignoring damage. At Legendary Sunspear rank, Necrosis deals 90 damage to Duncan and 180 damage was dealt to my friend. However, this damage can be reduced by skills such as Protective Spirit. I wonder if the added damage is a bug...

Wasn't suggesting you combined both. :P We're going to run EoE on our next run and we don't use an MM. I was just saying I bet B/P with an MM (paying close attention to the summoners) would work well, I think. I have not tried it myself.

K, here's the bad news:
Resurrection Signet on:
1) Stone Summit Warder (Earth ele, mass eoe, Sandstorm, Churning Earth, wards)
2) Stone Summit Marksman (Punishing Shot ranger?)
3) Stone Summit Demolisher (hammer warrior, bacbreaker)
Signet of Return on:
1) Stone Summit Cleaver
Resurrection chant on on:
1) Stone summit Dominator (Domination mesmer, duh)
I am not sure if the monks (Summit Priest and Defender) have res since we always kill them first and the following units do not seem to have any res:
1) Stone Summit Blasphemer (necro)
2) Stone Summit Summoner (Rit MM)
3) Stone Summit Contaminator (necro with Tainted Flesh)
4) Stone Summit Dreamer (Illusion mesmer)
I do not know whether the Stone Stummit Distractor (interrupt ranger) uses a res sig or not.
Overall, very GG. High damage build or not, Frozen Soil is your best friend.

Did only Thommis and parts of Selvetarm so far.
While the environment is not as interesting and diverse as in the Domain of Anguish (the negative point of the critique), the difficulty is much lower and does not reward or demand specialized exploitive tactics and builds (positive).
I quite like the dungeon so far and hope the other areas are like that, hopefully having a few puzzles or niceties, it was too much mass battle so far.
BTW: Selvetarm - reference to D&D?

I finally killed Duncan! :O
Skills are in image I think.... Last two henchies are Herta and Cynn.
Anyways... Those skills will get you through the dungeon at a steady pace. Ursan Blessing is well, a blessing to have here. When you get to Duncan, go at him from the right side. Make sure all the restless dead are dead, first. Use the All Henchies flag and put it in the back corner, far enough from Duncan but close enough to attack the spirits. Now, flag the two necros away from each other but close enough to Duncan. Make sure to lock them on to him. Disable all of their skills except for SV and SS. Maybe keep Insidious Parasite if you aren't flooded with DP. Disable Xandra's spirits and her Death Pact signet. If you are the Paragon, just stand in the middle of the two boxes that should be near Duncan. If you do this right, he will cast about 2-3 times and stop for about 1/2 of his life bar. Whatever you do, refrain from using any skills except the Ursan Shout and the Signet of Return. If you use any attack skills, he will retaliate with a Spirit burn. If the Necros die, either wait for the healers to revive them, or use Totem of Man and revive the heroes. Make sure you do not leave your spot, or he will pursue you, placing a nice familiar death bubble above the henchmen in the back. When his HP bar gets between the L and the v in Lvl, you can switch back to Totem of Man and hit him with a nice GFTE/Vicious Spear combo for a quick kill.

Me and two guildies just beat Duncan. Not too hard. The boss fight took approx 15mins. Skills that help: BHA, Spoil Victor, Consume Soul & Frozen Soil.
Only onyx, diamonds and a deldrimor armor remnant dropped for everyone. Getting a gold or green seems abit rare I've found. ^_^

Finnaly beat it after we got him bodyblocked in by our 2 tanks. We had our real ele kill spirits as zhed is too stupid to do that and had ps on the softies while 30 mins of chipping away at him. We decided to go with a w/p spear guy as so shadowsong wouldnt hit him all the time from the other spirits and we could get deep wound and good dps going on duncan.

Thanks for the help guys! I am on the Duncan dungeon part now!

since Im feeling rly good Ill give a tip to u all....
fastest and safes-t way to do the dungeons (at least before duncan) is using the same build that ppl use to farm foundry..
belive me.. it works a charm
just swap on the SB 600 tank spirit shacles for the anti interrupt mantra and put FZ in the ranger instead of rebirth..
rest of the team bring nukers and monks.
It takes all foes pretty fast (especialy the dungeon with undead and the one with the Djins style guys) and FZ insures no rez....
when every1 except the healers are dead send in the nukes
belive me... I was almost a always at 60 DP in the dungeons.. now my team has 0 deaths
anyways tomorrow ill kill duncan but I want to make a question..
If I kill duncan and accept the quest reward I need to kill all the other bosses before fighting him again???
and if I dont accept the quest can i just rezone and kill duncan over and over?

I don't know if anyone else has noticed but 3 out of the 4 bosses' groups can be destroyed solely by a Splinter Barrage ranger. Just do the Stygian Veil strategy; I've done it without a speed boost here.
I got Forgewight to 50% and killed all but one of his group using Splinter Barrage and running back and forth. The only boss I couldn't do this on was the Justicar because his group is loose and wandering.

May be one of the Moderators could merge my thread of killing Duncan with a mesmer to this.

Anyone else think they should seriously tone down the group size? You pull one mob and you get 10-20 mobs chasing you all of a sudden.

and if I dont accept the quest can i just rezone and kill duncan over and over? First question: yes you do have to kill all the other bosses again first, or alternatively you can join someone with only the Duncan-specific quest active.
Second question: you are forced to accept the quest by default when you go in there, it's not a choice. You don't have to talk to the dude to have the quest in your log. Whether you accept the quest reward or not after killing Duncan is irrelevant. Either way, you can't kill him again until you do one of the two things listed in the answer to the first question.

My problem is against the selfraising boss pack, the boss is easy to kill, but the minions with him just keep raising each otehr as fast as I can kill them.
Evilsod
I went through the Necro Dryder bosses area earlier with H/H to see what it was like. It wasn't too bad... it was mainly the Sandstorm Warders that were the problem. Henchman really don't get along with Sandstorm/Churning.
I could've really made the build slightly better, i hadn't really changed anything from my regular hench/hero set. But next time i'm DEFINATLY taking Frozen Soil. I gave a quick look over the builds the Summit had on wiki... didn't realise just how much of a problem the res' were till i went in. They are INCREDIBLY annoying when you end up killing the same thing 3 times.
Got through it all ok. Got wiped a few times at the boss, i buggered things up a little there, kept trying to play it safe, ended up overluring or just scattering the extremely tightly packed mob out before i attacked it. Eventually killed them though. Got a nice r9 Tyrian Sickle for it............ which turned out to have no inscription slot :'(

As others have said in this thread, Frozen Soil is a good way of stopping enemy ressurections.

Just finished the elite dungeon with my guild buddy, Duncan's dungeon was pretty hard
AlienFromBeyond
Using Swap to move away the Recuperation spirits helps a bit with Duncan, and means you can just let a necro sit in the corner where all the projectiles can't hit him, while Duncan gets whittled down by SV and SS.
Croco Clouds
I really wanna try Slavers Exile for hero armors, but after reading this thread, it feel sooo discouraging to even visiting there... Duncan seems soo deadly
Sasuke The Betrayer
Is there a way to battle duncan over and over instead of having to kill the other bosses again?
pakhavit
17th run in 1 day
wolfwing
Res Signet isn't a problem for me, but the boss packs seem to have reusable resurects and just seem to keep coming back, though I did kill the drydar's pack after I killed him some how. I'm tempted to bring Frozen soil, though question, will they attack the spirits after your dead?
pakhavit
yep they attack frozen soil after you died
My guild did first level 2 boss 24min. Spider boss 17min. ele 25min.
Duncan 23 min. full run = 84min.
of couse you don't need to do everything to kill the boss again never seen someone sell 20 remnant? xD
a good tank make a run a lot faster

I tried running it with an Obsidian Flesh build (actually, the exact one on PvXwiki) and either I wasn't doing it right (unlikely) or my group was completely incompetent (more likely) because they'd either pull all the aggro as soon as they started firing away or let me die.
I then ran through parts of it with a friend and heroes with my normal dungeon build and we did fine, spending most of it at +morale boost. (well, nearly fine, at one of the last areas the Heroes pathing was getting them and us killed constantly until we couldn't continue any further because of the -60DP)
One note about frozen soil: the mobs really don't like it and if it's anywhere nearby they will actually go for it first then go after you. Make sure you place it a ways back so they ignore it.

1 - Only the war is up front , far from party, NO ONE should touch the warr agro bubble at all cost then only the monks prot and heal while ruberbanding of him.
2 - DO NOT camp cast...it mean tell your team to cast and get the hell out...this is where most team fail and break agro.
3 - Use a line in the compass and apply a 15 degree to 45 degree angle to control the mobb and ask party to crawl N hug the wall as its your GF / BF.
I know these things are easy to say but trust me , hard to apply with pugs.
Learn all that from doing Gloom / foundry runs in HM with Pros.
Gloom = Having to make a line for the Earth at end without any help of a wall what so ever
Foundry = making line with party then switching the angle of that same line once agro is set.
Controling agro is an art, tanking is at 95% of the time done wrong....im hard with my tanks but after some gaming with me...they all thanks me for being able not to say what to do for controle an agro.

Learning to make a team and kick the bad elements : hard on your Ignore list

Just finished Slavers Exile with just me and heroes/henchies. Not really ideal and not very fast but it was fun anyway. On Duncan's floor I got owned bad at the start, was quickly at 60% dp but was able to fight my way to him. Wiped a couple of times when I aggro'd an extra patrol or some of those undead that pop up. I only had 2 powerstones with me and didn't know how hard Duncan would be so I figured I'd fight my way there the hard way, with 60% dp lol. Engaged him, and wiped because I was still at 45% or so dp, so ran back, popped 1 of the powerstones and an armor of salvation and just charged him ignoring the spirits. I had 2 dazer's with me so most of his spells got interupted, the ones that got through were healable. He died pretty quick, armor of salvation icon still had the bar at over 80% so couldn't have been more then a few min.
Had a good time, though with the uncustomisable henchies I'm probably not going to run it just for the loot. Two people with heroes is probably a better idea if you want to h/h it.

Duncan's Defense works on traps was hoping it didn't.
However, with a proper prot monk most damage that comes back is 0 anyway and it works like a charm.

Had glyph sac/ms on cancel on both ele's....starting each fight with it. I put Rupture soul on one ele just incase Frozen soil had to go down but never had to use it. Did the Swap trick at duncan, I just stood there and let Spoil victor kill him while all the henches were behind me. Took about 50 mins to finish.

I've got a question: I just did the quest in this dungeon and killed Duncan. I got my quest reward and everything is fine.
The question is: Can i go into the final dungeon (duncan only) straight away (like Mallyx for example) or do I have to do all the boss monster again?

Just hero/henched my way to Duncan's level, and that's where the fun stops. Twice, half my party was dead and the other half doomed as soon as I arrived. (Playing on a sluggish laptop atm because I'm not at home.)
Screw this.
Screw this.
