kill riposte?
silentman
hello.
as a dervish, how can i kill a wariror if he use riposte build?
sand shards won't help so much, i won't get heal so much.
but i think i need a way to make my attacks unblockable?
and attack with enchantments won't be so strong and deal a lot of dmg.
thx

... you point and laugh at him for using such a retarded excuse for a build.
DarkGanni
No matter what you do you'll never block ripostes. Best way to Kill a warrior is Degen imo, However you'll need to time your attack skills. Killing riposte isn't a solution.

Go D/R, D-shot heal sig, use whatever bow attacks you fancy. D/Me with [skill=text]Complicate[/skill] and [skill=text]Empathy[/skill] could work too.
silentman
ok, that's nice. but he'll still block my attacks, doesn't it?
Coloneh
let your ele kill him. you dont bother with anti-melee characters when you are playing a melee character.
Pick Me
[skill]sympathetic visage[/skill]
[skill]expose defenses[/skill]
[skill]mirrored stance[/skill] - I'm not sure if this would work
Here are some examples of giving that warrior a hard time.

huh, yeah... the thing is, both riposte and deadly riposte are skills, not stances
in a melee vs melee duel, you'll hardly defeat a riposte warrior, go /Me with empathy + clumsiness /N reckless haste + price of failure + insidious parasite, you can even go /E Gole + blinding flash, gale, rodgorts mark and a fire wand

Good point. I was also thinking of [skill]auspicious parry[/skill], which might also be used.
[skill]illusionary weaponry[/skill] - should bypass any riposite right?
[skill]ignorance[/skill] - to remove healing signet
[skill]sympathetic visage[/skill] - to remove lion's comfort and any adrenaline based skill

Auspicious Parry doesn't do anything against Riposte. It's not an attack, it's just a skill that causes damage.
IW should pass through it with no problem.

Using [skill]Illusionary Weaponry[/skill] will still cause you to take damage from the riposte.
A simple [skill]Sympathetic Visage[/skill] or [skill]Ancestor's Visage[/skill] will do nicely for shutting the warrior down.

there's still the energy based riposte, but yeah, packing a good dose of mesmer skills would do the job

Why on earth are you bothering to attack a riposte warrior as a melee character again? Especially as I'm assuming that you're talking about PvP.
God Apprentice
Hm read that wrong, thought it was a stance
Str0b0
Deadly is the only riposte skill with damage worth worrying about. You have a two second window between the time Deadly Riposte fails and when it can be cast again. during this time you can nail them without consequence. If you go with a Melandru build then you're in it for the spammable deep wound. That Deep wound will hurt him more than his riposte will hurt you. While yes attacking a riposte warrior with a melee build is not a great decision a dervish should be able to outheal and outlast a riposte warrior any day.

Hit and run. I'd be suprised he has a run skill. No 1 on 1 scrimmaging warrior ever has any useful skills like run stance, they always bring Dolyak Riposte and crap like that.

For some reason, this thread reminds me of this one. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10176974
But anyway yeah, pretty much what everyone else has said. Don't be dumb and melee a riposte build. Kill off the rest of his team first, then let your teammates kill him. Riposte builds usually have low spec in weapon attribute and thus deal shit for damage as long as you're not going melee against them.
Just spammed frenzy while conjure wanding one to death. lol. I love RA.

you dont, you either bring ripostes and be a noob like him or you just tank his measly hits until someone else shoots him down. then laugh at him later.. P:
but if you get killed by him.. you have no right to call him a noob, because you attacked through RIPO Dx

A Riposte build relies 100% on the enemy being stupid enough to attack. If you see a Riposte warrior, make them aware of how shitty their build is the best way you can: Ignore them. Besides, if they're running that build, chances are they're a low priority target even by warrior standards and on top of that, probably a bad player in the first place.
Dr Strangelove
j_unit66
the damage he does is from u hitting him, so.... dont hit him, hit a caster and let ur teamates worry about the riposter.
populationcontrol
actually ripostes are stances, you cant bring up a stance withought removing riposte prematurely i think. wars with riposte are generally atacked last by meelee not only because there difficult to kill but also cause their armor is high. BUT many classes including necros and mesmer for instance can use it having secondary as warrior. not only to benefit from their damage and bloking attributes but also to discourage melee from atacking you in a cheap efficient way. rispostes can cover the use of say healing signet as caster and block knock down skills and much more.dont under estimate the power of riposte.
DarkGanni
Seems like this thread is going on well gotta say, ripostes are NOT for 1vs1 they are simple methods to inflict damage and MOSTLY to break melee chains, there's nothing to nerf *point*
Coloneh
ripostes are not stances.

i really think they are, or if im wrong it because they used to be. they dont act like stances but they cant be used simulataniosly to stance i think. im not totally sure but i really strongly believe this.
