Hard Mode In GW:EN

Wondering if anyone has figured out how to activate Hard Mode in Eye of the North yet.

For a while I thought it didn't exist, since most monsters are already pretty high level, but it seems it does. How to see it does? Go to any outpost in Tyria that is part of the Prophecies campaign and turn on Hard Mode. Open up your map and look at the dungeon and primary quest icons from GW:EN. They have a red hue, and completed dungeons and quests show as incomplete.

If ANet havn't activate Hard Mode yet, it would be nice if they would make a statement confirming that. Otherwise, we would have to assume there is some other requirement than just beating the game to access it.

Perhaps something to do with the Eye of the North title track? For a while I thought completing all the dungeons may open it, but it seems that only earns you an additional 2.5k faction. Theories?

What happens when you have HM toggled in LA and then zone into a GW:EN town...does it turn off?

First, you have to charm the Black Moa in Factions, and then you take Nightfall-only Heroes into the final mission, and equip the Ogre-Slaying Knife to yourself. The deathblow to the boss MUST be from the Ogre-Slaying Knife. If you do all this it takes you to a cutscene showing Pre-Searing Ascalon, Gwen talks in some unknown tounge while dancing like a male mesmer (although she is balancing on her head), and then you unlock Hard-Mode.
