cyndr tactics - omg he just will not die.
jiggerjay
hey all i got to cyndr about an hour ago and i have been stuck since, first time round i got to him the whole team (hero/hench) were 0%dp when we got to him, by the time i worked the way to get his shield down dp was at -60% and i just could not get him below about 50%
then i read about spoil victor, before i was using an mm, however i still cant do him.
can someone lend me a hand, i.e tell me what team build or something to bring.
on my last attempt i brough
me a w/n
my fire nuker hero
my mm necro - but with spoil victor instead of flesh golem
my mm necro - but witth spoil victor instead of flesh golem
hench
2 monks
1 warrior
1 inturrupter.
any suggestions ?

yeah, if ur running a mm with spoil victor, ur necros are goin to be seriously disabed. either their minions will be low lvl due to low death magic, or ur sv wont do nething bc of low blood magic, i suggest u make one full blood and one full mm

drop the kegs to weaken the shell (once you drop 3 you can hit it with normal damage)

3 touchie ranger heroes or 2 touchies and 1 int ranger or mes and you dont even need to use the kegs. gg cyndr

If your next build doesnt work, keep breaking his shell (pick up bomb, run in, drop, die, rez, repeat) untill he spawns next to (or close) to the guy with bombs. Then just pick up and drop as fast as possible

i know about that, but my heroes/henchies cant damage him enough in the 10seconds or so he is disabled.

have done but he still wipes most of the damage dealers by the time the shell in down.

could you ping a build for me to look at, please, as i am at wits end !
Fog Accomplice
VERY EASY WAY TO BEAT HIM WITHIN SECONDS
The carapace that protects the worm does not protect him from degen.
See where this is going?
Massive degen via hexes and conditions will prove extremely effective.
But what also ignores armor?
Life stealing! Nothing can bring down this thing faster than a pair of touch rangers.
My party build was:
W/Mo (Me, tank)
R/N (Touch) [Hero]
R/N (Touch) [Hero]
R/P (Had Punishing Shot as elite) [Hero]
Mo (Healer Henchman)
Mo (Protection Henchman)
Me or R (Illusion or Interrupt Henchman)
N (Blood Henchman, primarily for Blood Ritual to help w/ energy)
Seriously, I had trouble too before but with this party layout it'll be dead in a matter of seconds.
Btw, just in case you hadn't caught on, this build makes the carapace irrelevant AKA you don't have to run the powder kegs.

Join a group and you'll have multiple people to drop barrels, problem solved.

thank you mate, that is what i was lookingfor.
i dont traditionally run those builds so i'll look them up and do it when i get back on tomoz, thanks very much mate for that.

Illusionary weaponry also works I believe. So life steal+ iw chars can easily kill him.

It also helps significantly to dodge Cyndr's attacks
while you're trying to bring him down.
Keep an eye on Cyndr, and you'll be able to see
whether or not he's targeting you.

damage dealers? doing what i said, there is only one form of damage, the bombs themselves. they do 50 damage each, and if you spam drop them, your first 3 will break the shell, and after them, your have around 2 bombs going off every second (100 dps). kills him pretty quick
Curse You
I killed Cyndr so quickly that I didn't even need to use the Kegs.
My set-up
N/Mo SV necro (Me)
R/Mo Interrupt Ranger (Hero)
N/Mo Blood Necro (Hero)
Mo/Me HoH healer (Hero)
Devona
Herta
Mhenlo
Lina
Even with 3 monks nothing lived very long.

I used 2 ppl i had 1 dude jsut run bombs. he was pretty mcuh owned in the face between posion + deepwound + bleed + sv + bombs + bonds. i think i overdid it cuz of all the scary stories i heard lol. dropped in like 1:40.

No such thing as overdoing it with Cyndr. If you give him any leeway whatsoever you're looking at a party wipe from his attacks. Either you do it fast or not at all, it seems.

A slightly more "traditional" build to consider:
Me: R/ (ran the barrels)
2 prot monks
2 heal monks
1 Air Spike
Cynn
Herta
Flag them within aggo range of Cyndr, then run the barrels and damage. Really tedious and long, but it gets the job done :P

My attempt was with another human, worked like a charm, our party consisted of:
Me: Elementalist - Water Magic with Ward against Harm and Armor of Mist for running for barrels.
Hero 1: Flunkoro, LoD Healing
Hero 2: Livia, Blood
Hero 3: Sousuke, Earth Magic
Brother: Monk - Life Barrier
Hero 4: Tahlkora, LoD Healing
Hero 5: Norgu, Diversion Domination Mesmer
Hero 6: Pyre Fierceshot, BHA Interrupt Ranger
Keep the Heroes flagged reasonably well apart. Our Life Barrier monk stayed well away. We took very little damage and allowed me to saunter around dropping barrels.

It's kinda funny, we didn't have much trouble and we also had no idea what to do. We didn't have enough hex degen (mostly conditions - which don't work as long as his carapace is up) or any life steal, and were doing 0 damage to him for about 5 minutes. I made sure my wife and I both had our heroes spread, due to the description of his monster skill cluing us that might be a good idea.
The problem was I had my hero skill panels up over the area where his carapace-meter popped up, so I didn't see it. I started bitchin! Was like - ok, why the hell is this thing taking no damage? Well, I tried the barrels a few times, got smacked down instantly, thanks to Cyndr's skill. The one time I did get it, of course it wasn't enough to break through and looked to do no damage (remember, the meter was hidden on my UI).
I was about to give up when my wife finally said hey, scroll over his carapace thing, says you need to use barrels to break through to damage him. Wow. She could've mentioned it sooner, lol.
Yeah, once I realized there was a meter, it was a pretty quick kill after that. I carry Enfeeble + Virulence + Putrid Bile for massive degen, plus the benefit of Necrosis and it's armor-ignoring sweetness, he was as good as squishy as rotting meat.
Oh yeah, for protection, we had two monks: LoD + Shield of Regen, Vekk as Earth Warder, and Hayda with standard shouts.

Guildmaster Cain
I was monk, so went with this team:
3x SF Ele (Heroes)
Mhenlo
Lina
Zho
Talon
and me, as 55/SV monk ^^
The first time I brought him down to 5% health, but due to my morale boost, my health was 105 or something, so I couldnt use SV further. Thus I died and that lowered my hp.
The only really annoying part is that Cyndr with the second time, seemed to use his Monster skill every second instead of every 6, KDing me every second..... really annoyin as u understand. And u cant dodge it, since u are crippled.
But in the end, after dying and ressing 5 times, I got to him and he died.
PS,HB,BS,SV, Balthazars Spirit, Essence Bond, Blessed Aura, Mending (+4 regen)

I was hero/henching it as the monk and i just PS myself and kept kegging him till he spawned next to the keg guy. Binded a key to drop item then just space bar keg guy drop item about 50 times or so really fast and he was dead.

i beat cynder very easly, my part setup was as follow:
Ranger/Monk(ME) - Glass Arrow Build/interupt
Master of Whispers(Spoil Victor Necro)
Olias ( Spoil Victor Necro)
Takora(Smiting Monk)- Holy Dmg Bypasses armor
minelo(healer henchie)
Lina(Protection Hemchie)
Zho(interupt Ranger) Broadhead arrow
Aidan(Barage Ranger)
Took Cynder down Fast, no need to run kegs, just keep back, and let masters of whispers, olias and Takora do there thing, took cynder down in less than a minute, while there attacking, i attacked with broad head arrow, and interupts
Enjoy

Cyndr seamed very easy to me.
Party was.
Myself(war-ursa blessing)
MM
Rit
Rit
Hench: monk, monk, earth ele, ranger interupter
After I figured out the barrels it was simple a matter of Ursa + Nightmare weapon and the rits dropped Spirit Rift on him and he went down fast.
Ursa blessing is an incredible elite, 100+ dmg every 3sec, cant be blocked or avoided, ignores blind and hexes that make you miss.

Gosh, imagine an 8 member PUG, grabbing 8 kegs, chargin in, dropping them all and repeating it a few times...
So fast...
So efficient...
So likely 25% of the players would have to go AFK right before the gate to Cyndir so the party wouldn't be able to respawn until they died (IE, never)...
We really REALLY need to get heroes with a special PvE only skill: FETCH: the hero grabs the targetted bundle item and carries it until instructed to drop it

Spoil Victor and other hero elite skills, I'm assuming you got them on Elona after Desolation? I haven't got that far yet. I'm stuck at Grand Court of Sebelkeh. Is there any other place to get them?
I think I found my answer. Wish I had known this before.

Me, Mesmer with some pve-only skills + Signet of Illusions + heavy, -15 degen to overcome his natural regen and shorter hex duration.
Ogden, LoD
Xandra, Shelter + Union + support spells + Nightmare Weapon
Livia, spoil victor/shadow dmg necro.
Mhenlo
Cynn
Herta
Zho. And that's the end of Cyndr, 3-4 people died, because I placed henches on a lava... But still, he was dead without destroying his armor. And guess what I got? A gold pickaxe. Zealous, with +cash inscription. Not max, req 10.

The key is keeping your heroes way back. I beat him with a ranger using all Ursal skills. While in bear form use the skill that makes you run 33% faster, bob and weave constantly. When the armor goes down, unflag the heroes. He got me twice, but he goes down like a cob if you can run the barrells quick. I also found it was easier to stand near the dwarf so he arises from the dirt close to you. Less distance to travel with the barrell.

cheers guys for the help i'll go on this again later, i did not find the dungeon itself to be too hard however it was just when i got to him the dp started !

nope.... i got him down to about 5% as well, i even done a tip when he spawned near the barrel guy to spam pick up and drop by hot-keying drop to a button to get loads to drop quickly.
nope whatever i try i am stuck.
i am at the point where i have paid about 10k for elite skills (sig cature) and normal skills... where i am going to give up or pay some guy to come on the run with me.
if anyone wants to help me i'll pay 5k tomoz when i get on.

I did it hero/hench with no flagging or any control over them at all.
I was P/W running a Stunning Strike + defensive build (SYG, TINTF).
I had Vekk as a SF nuker with Meteor, Liquid Flame, Meteor Shower.
Ogden as a ZB prot monk.
Dunkoro as a LoD healing monk.
Cynn, Mhenlo, Zho, Devona as henchies.
With this, I just cracked the armor once with 3 kegs and we took him down in the time we had before his armor could get back.

You make it sound more easy than it looks as I am still there. The wiki say best to do with some real players as speed boost would help as well.I was wondering did you use manta of flame as well.Shiro was a walk in the park .

My team just kept dropping kegs on him and he died by the second time he popped up.
Eight kegs dropped, meleers whacked and Monk/support kept dropping kegs (a Party Heal/LoD or Seed of Life quickly cast just in case). He was down to 10% by the time he came back up the second time.

Thanks for posting this tip. Tried last night and just couldn't hurt him after kegged off his carapace.
Tonight, after reading some of the other posts, tried a sort of mix master team (cuz I don't have all the skills to make a "true" team build) with
Me (A/Me) with Power Drain as a fast and cheap interrupt to get near Cyndr
Livia, as a sort of SV Nec with some Me interrupts (Pwr Drain)
Xandra (rt/n) with Spirit Rift / LS and SV
Pyre (r/rt) with only SavageShot, DistractingShot and Sprit Rift
as hench
Lina
Menhlo
Zho
Herta (insead of Aidan)
Still got waxed tons. Finally got him next to kegger and, on last red keg team and I, were all somehow was untouched and all standing so did a fast two finger dance on spacebar and caplock, dropping vertiable firework display on him when he came up for air after the 3rd red keg. He dropped like a rock in about 10 seconds. Kept up the fireworks for 10 more secs, just to make sure he wouldn't get up like in a bad movie (and in a bit of celebratory relief).
Nice to see that bad boy in the dirt finally.
What a relief. Never would have done it without that trick. tks tons. Just goes to show, even with a totally weak team, this way works.

Well, SV doesn't work anymore when the carapace is up. Anyone have any tips? Because I just tried it and got thrashed. He regens everything I take off by the time I get the carapace down the second time.
Figures. The new build came about 30 seconds after I accepted the "Heart of the Shiverpeaks" quest.
