I don't plan on getting any destroyer weapons. I hoped at least you would be able to display the endgame weapons from factions and nightfall. I'll not be rich enough to get a destroyer weapon.

now when I got my Tormented axe and Shield I have to waste approx 200 G's on Destroyer axe and Shield just to to be remarked in GW2 for having achived something in GW in the field of getting top-level gear.
This feels unfair, because many experienced players won't even use these weapons as they already possess better looking, more valuable and harder to get equipement (crystaline, tormented, elemental, etc). And now we all have to dry our pockets of 200 paltinum just to get a candy bar in GW2

Since they said nothing about weapons being limited to Destroyer items, and since getting Forgotten/Imperial Sanctum engames is at least as difficult, it would be nice if they could include those.

Lovitar, anyone can be an a$$hole. It's a legitimate question to ask.

I swear, some of the smarmy comments you all make would get your a$$es handed to you IRL. Be lucky you can be a prick here.

It would be nice as they make it the same way they did in the old Diablo1 expansion: Hellfire. Meaning:
Complete a dungeon mission and at the bottom of that dungeon you find an altar. There you can put an item (without the possibillity for others to take it of course, works like a 1 item personal storage chest) and you can change this item anytime you like when you complete this mission again untill... You add the GW2 game key.. Once you do that the mission and the item will no longer be available. Instead you find a simular mission at the start of GW2 where you can recover the completely personilized (and eventually reskinned?) item at a simular altar in the bottom of your GW2 mission dungeon...

The current state of the valor monument is the single reason I'd ever get a Destroyer weapon. I wouldn't be caught dead using one of those wretchedly ugly things in public. Craft, place on monument, then thrash the junk, I guess. Good money sink.

I agree with all of the above. Although I personally will probably never get a tormented weapon, if those arent rare, then I dont know what is.

How about perfect zodiac weapons? I have a perfect req9 20/10 zodiac staff that I consider to be rare.

And mix armor would be great, as I dont have a single "full set" of 15k, just pieces of sets for my combo armor on my war and monk.

To Lovitar: Sorry. I got through one of the "Why Gwen Sucks" threads and just had a bad taste in my mouth. Yours wasn't like a lot I've read on here, lately. At least you aren't encouraging a flamefest.

OP: I think they've read enough stuff on here to get a good view of all the problems. I mean, we have a "Grind sucks, EotN went down the toilet" thread open up every day on here, and I think every bad point they have seen. Ergo, the chances of you getting an answer are slim to nil. Nothing says you can't keep bumping, though

I do not live with my parents
I have never been to a cosplay convention
The guantlets cost 75ectos, so yea I can afford the whole suit

As for this thread, I've said it once but I'll say it again, we would like 2 lvl's of displays for Armor and Weapons. One set is GW:EN only for unlocks the other is just for display ONLY, allowing us to show off what we think makes our char special or unique.

I can understand if its too complicated to change now that we have the full version.

If they would at the very least tell us it is beyond there ability to make such changes with the majority of there people working on GW2 then we could accept it and move on.

As long as they say nothing then the possibility of change exists and this thread, and others like it, will continue.

I think there's a very specific reason that you cannot put Tormented weapons, Kanaxai's whatever, etc. into the HoM. Simply enough, they require a specific campaign be owned in order to do so. If, for example, the HoM took Tormented weapons, then only people that bought Nightfall would be able to do so (not including the WTB method). Someone that owns only Prophecies and EotN cannot, without beign forced to purchase one, get a Tormented weapon.

This simply has to be the exact reason this is at it is.

Now for people that want Greens or "perfect" weapons... do you realize how many Greens there are? The GW2 developers would have to spend far far too much time coming up with some little gimmick for each one. This way there are what... 15 or so specific things that they are coding for? Much smarter from a developmental perspective. Regarding "perfect"... who exactly will be defining what perfect means? Req 9 max? Req 8 max? Maybe the old req 7 max? 15^50? 20v50? A 10/10 Sundering bowstring used to be perfect... do the classics still count?

Even if they group greens to a particular "benefit" you have complaints. If someone puts two greens from a group in the HoM for one effect, they'll whine. If two people put two different greens in and get the same effect, they'll whine.

Simply put, it HAS to be items unique to EotN to ensure equal and fair accessibility to all as well as to prevent huge developmental problems in the future.

Besides... what fun would it be to load the HoM with stuff you already have, then have to wait a year or two for the results? Now you can spend the time getting things you've never had.

Maybe what would solve some of this would be if ANET explained now just what all items and stuff will bring you a bonus in GW2. We have 2 years, if we know okay, having X titles unlocked and every destroyer weapon will give you X bonus things it might help us to know what to achieve.

What I had thought they would do was something like you get points for every title you complete *or even rank in a title* and then those things either give you bonus points for stuff to get/do in GW2, or allowed you to transfer some things.

GW2 is still being developed... they may not even know yet exactly what will do what when.

Had hoped that any customised weapon could be displayed.. though.. then I'd seriously wonder about customising my caster weapons.. and I like swapping them between characters.

Be interesting to see if it'll get changed.

/signed greens....especially endgame or elite area greens. I want to display my Urgoz in the Hall, as that is the greatest bow IMO.

As for coding, there are only so many rare green & collector weapons in the game....coding a skin from one game to another isn't that difficult.

As for limiting the skin to Destroyer weapons only, so as to make it fair for all players who have GW:EN to share the same skins in GW2....stupid idea as you still need a campaign to run GW:EN. Porting all collector and green skins from each campaign is just as fair, if not fairer, and for those that don't have a certain campaign, they can either buy the campaign or buy the weap skin in game. Everybody would still have access.

Wow, you really have no idea whatsoever what you're talking about, do you?

Let's simplify this. To get the Hall of Monuments you must have Eye of the North, period. This is as advertised and as expected. EotN is the bridge between GW1 and GW2. To access EotN you need at least one campaign. Any one, doesn't matter.

Pretty straight-forward, no?

Now, say Joe Tyria bought Prophecies back in the day and had no desire to get any other campaigns, so he didn't. J.T. will not be punished for doing so with regards to GW2 because of this decision as long as he gets the EotN expansion. By changing the HoM to take Tormented weapons, for example, you would be punishing Joe for being dedicated to his campaign of choice.

WRT you comments on coding... you really have no idea what you're talking about, do you?

they explained it very clearly already.

there will be no *transfer* period

anything that Anet chooses to allow into the HOM will *unlock some unspecified item/minipet/skin/goodie*

these unique UNSPECIFIED unique goodies will not be available other than the HOM unlocks

not for sale and very specifically will NOT repeat NOT give any player an advantage over a new GW2 player

you will not be able to sell your unique GW1 unlocked minipet zoo for a GW2 fortune for one example

they have not said what you will get.

and that is very clear .

what seems to be missing (not refering to you) is that they already stated that it is designed for one very specific purpose and will only admit specific items.

it was never intended or advertised to be a huge look at what i got display,

it was intended as a monument to that characters accomplishments not a show off my phat leet loot showcase.

they will fix the customized minipet problem.

anything like tormented from other chapters will not be going in no matter how loud the yell.

since it has literally zero effect on the game the only people yelling desparately are the ones who want to try to out show off the other

With your arguement, the armor monument doesn't make sense. In that you can put armor from across all campaigns. I very much doubt there'll be a unique affect for each set of armor, more like an effect for having 1 set, 2 sets, 3 sets etc.

Since armor comes from all different campaigns the weapons should to. Obviously it serves anet best to give those players that spent £120 on campaigns more rewards on those who only bought 1. That's the kind of business they need to do with the model they chose.

I'm yelling desparetely for other weapons in the HoM. All I want to do is put my Galigord's Stone Staff in there. Do you think anyone will care, it's a cheapish green weapon that anyone could buy. But I've used that weapon from the crystal desert all the way through all the campaigns, it represents my elementalist. If there was something I wanted to leave for my virtual children to find it would be my staff, not some fiery random weapon I used for 3 days then plonked in my monument just to have a weapon on display.

I understand that there will be 'non-advantage' unlocks but of course there'll be an advantage. If looking for a group for PvP and your choosing between someone with an emote unlocked by having Gladiator or someone without it, who are you gonna choose? Finally, no one cam expect anet to make an individual unlock for everything, maybe an unlock for having a canthan green, an elonan green, a proph green....

Thankyou

An excelent point. Add to that the Heros from Nightfall, since niether Factions or Prophicies has Heros why are GW:EN heros not the only ones permitted?

As well the titles. I have my Protector of Cantha, Elona and prophicies, does that not grant me more than somebody that does not have all 3 chapters?

Infact since mini's can not be classified as belonging to any chapter the weapon monument is the ONLY one that is limited to GW:EN only items.

We are just asking that all things be equal, not an unreasonable request.

no that would be a fast way to lose

ike it or not GW is casual and going to get even more casual.

harry hardcore is only a small per cent of the profit base as most players do not have either the time/money or mentality to spend 5-10 hours a day on a game and NCsofts/Anets bottom line will point where the game goes.

for every HARRY HARDCORE there are many hundred possibly thousands of JOE CASUALS that play 5-10 hours a week buying maybe 2 out of what is out so far and JOE CASUAL is where the money is not harry hardcore.

the math based on one poster right here at guru

HARRY HARDCORE ive spent 300 dollars on all chapters and extra slots i am what is keeping Anet afloat by my loyalty

HARRY HARDCORE 300 DOLLARS TOTAL

JOE CASUAL has 1 game and added nightfall for the heroes and more exploring 100 dollars total

at 1000 casual to hardcore it is like thiS

HARDCORE PLAYER 300 DOLLARS X 1................300 DOLLARS
CASUAL 100 DOLLARS X 1000 CASUAL PLAYERS.......100,000 DOLLARS

at only 500 casual to hardcore it is like this

HARDCORE PLAYER 300 DOLLARS X 1................300 DOLLARS
CASUAL 100 DOLLARS X 500CASUAL PLAYERS.....50,000 DOLLARS

at only 250 casual to hardcore it is like this

HARDCORE PLAYER 300 DOLLARS X 1...............300 DOLLARS
CASUAL 100 DOLLARS X 250 CASUAL PLAYERS...25,000 DOLLARS

casual is where the money is and NCsoft is an established name in the field

they will not sink the ship for a small, loud, hard core of *expert* gamers

Errr... what does that pointless CAPS-LOCK IMPAIRED tirade have to do with Mazey's lines that you quoted?

Are you saying that casual players would be put off by the option to add a few more weapons to the HoM and stop buying more chapters? And are you really saying that not rewarding return costumers is a good thing? Dream on.

Read Strain's speech on a successful MMO. He says you shouldn't try to satisfy the hardcore gamers. These are the ones that post on the wikis, "and they know more about the game than you do." You concentrate on the casual gamer. If you get them happy, they will get a lot more people playing your game than "Harry Hardcore".

Casual gamer MIGHT look at pvx for a build. More likely he'll get a cool one from a friend. There is also a huge RP population on here. Most of them could care less about anything other than their character's back story, and most armors are just fine for them.

Count up how many posts pop on here and gwonline, Plus, most of the posters are regulars, so cut down that number by at least half. At LEAST. Then cut that by the back-and-forth flamers where you have quote wars for 2-3 pages. Now, compare that to the number of people playing the game. No comparison. I'd say Lovitar was being generous. I'd say 1:1000 ratio at the most.

Anet can spend their time responding to every single bitch and moan on here, or they can spend their time and money making sure GW2 is a better game when it's released. Christ, be glad they DO listen as much as they do, judging from the updates we've seen.

Anyway, shit! GWEN's been out what? not even 2 weeks? A bunch of panty-waisted Gen-Why's used to instant gratification and raised like veal. LRN2WAIT! Bitch after it's been out a month or two and they do nothing. Or, maybe, skimp on a couple sixers of Red Bull and put down the money for another MMO.

my point to do with those lines is simply that catering to a tiny group compared to a huge group is not the way to go and feel free to disagree

how many is a few, since you did those you can do these, and where do you draw that line?

Anet has already drawn that line before the avalanche starts

i never said that.

I'm enjoying GW:EN, absolutely.

But I still don't see why you equate people who bought all chapters with hardcore players. Buying habits and playing habits are two completely different things. I know players who play religiously, having only 2 chapters, and I also know players who own every chapter and still haven't finished Prophecies with their first character.

By offering more options to owners of more chapters, they'd be pleasing casual players as well as hardcore players. Casual players also visit the Hall of Monuments and wonder what the hell the Valor monument is for. This isn't about Casual vs. Hardcore.

GWEN

I consider my self as a hardcore player. I play at about an average of 190-200 hours in a month. I really hate the direction that GW has been going, but in all honesty i understand that they have to cater to the money makers. So the game is going casual now. In all honesty if Anet really wanted to they could give both the casual player and the hardcore player the experience they desire and cater to both sets of player base. But i agree that Anet is taking the right direction, its just obvious from a business stand point. I really care about GW and used to enjoy playing it alot, thats why i complain. The thing i find hard to do though is let Guild Wars go, GWEN nearly killed it for me, but all the time, money, care i put into it makes it really hard. It is just a game, but gaming is my hobby and what i enjoy doing when i get home from work. I have been sad and even more sadder that i may have to quit Guild Wars soon, it was a fun journey. Dont get me wrong, i enjoy some of GWENs aspects, but it was such a dissappointment in my eyes. Maybe there will be some hope for me to play GW2, it all depends on how its made.

I know its off topic of the thread, but so have the last several posts. I agree that things need to be adressed. I am soon to bet, that we will get a formal statement from Gaile or someone from PR, they just have to word it delicately because a single missunderstanding will cause more complaints and more threads to open up. What we need is some news to change around the forums from boo! to yea!

This thread is not about hard core gamers, or flaming or complaining about GW:EN in any way/shape/form.

As stated in the title of this thread, we have a question. We would like an answer, if the answer is no, fine.

The questions, lost over the past few posts, is

1- Could it be made possible for mixed armor to be displayed in HoM?
2- Could a system for displaying non-GW:EN weapons be set up(without any unlocks for GW2)?

Simple questions, needing simple answers.
