My Biggest Pet Peeve
mscobra
I have played GW:EN now since Preview, and overall have enjoyed the new game. There are some awesome aspects, but also sad to say some areas that are lacking.
My concerns:
1. Replayability
2. The armours with the exeption of a few pieces are not worth the effort.
3. The dungeons with the exception of a couple are not really that fun or rewarding.
BUT My Biggest Pet Peeve is:
THE DROPS...
Why in an expansion billed as a level 20 char playfield do such worthless items drop?
Two golds yesterday, neither even max!
A blue drop bow, Rq 6... I could get the same in Pre seering
And the VAST majority of the time when I do see a drop, its a worthless white item.
I spent time yesterday on the Southern Shiverpeaks and was getting far better drops than in GW:EN.
My overall rating of GW:EN on a scale of 1 to 10....... 6.5
I just don't see this expansion keeping anyone even a little interested for almost a year til GW2 is launched.
I have allways been very trusting and quick to buy from ANET, but this expansion leaves a bad taste in my mouth, once bitten twice shy.
I will be much slower in the future to buy ANET products.

You're right about the drops. They are totally shite.... but I believe that is to discourage farming in favour of dungeon-crawling...
IMHO... it was a stupid plan.

Except doing the dungeons doesn't produce significantly better drops. After doing the Temple of the Damned, I walked away with one gold (which was from the chest drop and I ended up selling it to the merchant), 2 or 3 blues, and a bunch of whites... all useless. (Oh, and I did the quest to get Diessa Chalices... number of those that dropped... zero). Given that most of the dungeons are more difficult that traditional farming locations and the results are abysmal, there is almost no reason to do the dungeons other than to fill your book. But wait... what do we get for the book? Maybe something that makes going through all the dungeons worth while. Nope... 2.5k rep. I would rather Murakai's greens or golds show up more often, rather than getting awful, useless blues and whites. If the green drops or gold drop were more common, I will grant the price would go down since they would be more common, but at least I would still get an item I can use rather than wasting my time.

Drop rate in GWEN is probably something that will be changed in an upcoming update.
I had no problems, actually. Got a few golds, and quite a large number of purples.

ive seen a lot of threads about crappy drops. until hardmode is released, you can expect drops to remain fairly crappy.
im not too concerned about drops myself, i just want to get all the new pve only skills and start experimenting with them in dungeons.

But I agree, one of the worst things for me as been the drops. I've been playin for a few hours at least every day its been live (including previews).
In that time the only drops I've got worth mentioning are 3 greens: myishes scythe, magmus staff, korens hornbow.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to get that, I love myishes scythe.
But then I go to farm some LB in the sulfurous wastes for a few hours and i get a req 9 elemental sword.
You would think in a expansion geared only to top level characters I would at least get a good drop rate of golds. I think I've gotten more than 4 golds in the 8 or 9 days GWENs been live. Not to mention 1 of them has been from a chest, and I open almost every single chest.
I have some hope the drops will get a little better though. They did increase the drop rate of destroyer cores yesterday.

It doesn't help that Eye of the North is filled with low-level creatures that have cosmic skill-bars.
You'd think that for beating tougher enemies like that you'd be able to get better loot. Doesn't happen though. The weapons are never max-damage from level 20 enemies.... so killing Quetzals (gave my shout-heavy heroes some nasty trouble) and Chromatic Drakes (damn that Sliver Armor) is all but worthless.

I keep hearing people say HM is going to be added, but I have seen no mention of this haappening from ANET.
Please let me know where this rumor is coming from...

Please let me know where this rumor is coming from... Apparently going into Hard Mode in prophecies and looking at the GW:EN part of the map drops hints of it....
Nothing solid yet though.

Well, the fact that faction titles can't be maxed is hint enough. Remember sunspear and lightbringer?
Zexion
Faction titles and master of the north cannot be maxed yet.
Nuff said. Bit disappointed by that, but whatever:/ They should make a Master of the North and Champion of the North IMO. One for NM, one for HM.
Same with protector/guardian.

Again, a rumor spread by players trying to defend an expansion that could have and should have been done better.

8 or 9 - I wish - I have zero from none end dungeon chests.
What I don't get is that the whites and blues are totally junk from early game areas. At least make the whites and blues on par with what one gets in like mineral springs or deep in the jade sea or forest etc.

Opened like 10 chests since it came out in explorable areas till I gave up, Drop rate is really bad for sure, I haven't got a SINGLE GW:EN weapon all this time.

Serious question: Are Golds even worth it anymore?
They can't go into your HoM. They usually have crappy stats, when a green or collectors will do the trick.
It's strange, one of the main points of Dungeon crawls is the loot, but in Guild Wars, you really don't need the loot?
Would we be better off if everything just dropped gold? (and gemstones?)

It is all about the PRETTY things afterall.
Then again... nobody else but me will know if my oh-so-pretty rare skin weapon is Gold or Purple if it happens to be a max damage inscribable. Hooray to Nightfall for making Purples and Blues potentially as good as Golds...

But that's my point, it's called "bait and switch" it's a marketing tool companies use.
The drops were nice during the preview, and 100% the opposite with the actual release.

Commander Ryker
I used to get crappy gold weapons. Since I've been playing GWEN, all I've been getting are crappy purple drops.
It's a good thing I'm not playing for the drops.

or maybe we're all used to HM?
yes, i agree, the loot is all scaled down a bit, because this is an entirely level 20 campaign...so level 20s don't drop max equipment in it, level 28s do.
as for dungeon chests dropping crap...you know it's random right? just like farming anything else is random, as well as finding that elemental sword. just give it time, you'll get something good eventually from dungeons, or at least the 10 onyx you need for a destroyer wep
i for one got a req 9 colossal scimitar from a dungeon chest, and even though that's like 4 months late, i can't complain
speaking of dungeons, i personally find them very fun, it's all a matter of opinion.
oh, mordakai...you're saying greens/collector items can easily replace golds...
so that means you would argue that 1k armor easily replaces 15k armor. why do people buy ferraris? why wouldn't a reliable toyota easily replace it? it's all in the prestige, and good items DO drop in gwen, just a bit rarer due to the fact that you can get just about every skin in the game from gwen.

Tender Wolf
I know the feeling. I've gotten lots of gold drops, but the majority of them have had the Measure for Measure inscription. What's up with that? Those are the worst, because I never know whether to replace the mod or salvage the item, as it's a gold so it could give me lots of goodies. I'd like to get the Kind of a Big Deal title, but I still agree with you on the fact that this probably won't keep me all that interested until Guild Wars 2 comes out. I've been looking forward to that more than this expansion to be honest. I may just return to working on my characters that need through Factions and Nightfall for a while. All I have left on GWEN pretty much are master's quests and dungeons that I can't do for the life of me.

Dunno... in normal mode, I get better random drops in Factions and Nightfall than I do from GW:EN. I keep hoping it's some sort of issue they're working on but haven't addressed. Apparently destroyer cores were dropping at much lower rates than they meant them to, so maybe the godawful half-powered q5 flatbows with like 12% crippling are some sort of error as well. I've played at least a couple hours every day since GW:EN went live, and I've been marching right on through the story. I've cleared dungeons, killed a crapload of bosses and high-level beasties, but I have yet to get anything better than grape. Bad luck definitely plays a part since greens and golds are obviously dropping, but this is getting pathetic. If I'd been using lockpicks, I'd be really pissed. XD
Ethiops
Maybe its just bad luck or something, I got like 3 golds in on a run to darkrime delves, with all henchies/heroes, not including the actual dungeon (I did have to rezone an area once because i went the wrong direction, but thats about it)
Then again maybe i was just extremely lucky. That and I got 1 gold, 1 purple, and a diamond at the end of the dungeon.
