This post cannot be left this way. I think this should become one of those with lots of pages, growing with everyone's experience.
If there is a fact that stats that onyx only drop in dungeon chests, then we should think which of the dungeons is the fastest to complete with the best reward possible or, even more, studying a build that could make the process shorter.
I would like to help more with this issue but PvP took too much of my time this week and haven't visited most of the dungeons.

There is a way. Ooze Pit is best bet for Onyx Gems as Hidden Treasures and Chest Reward at the end. Ooze Pit being Dungeon i seen with Chest Reward and being 1 lvl Dungeon with one and easy one.

imo it's much easier to get to the end of Sepulchre of Dragrimmar than ooze pit. Sepulchre has 2 levels but the 2nd one is very short. I have manage to complete this dungeon in 25 minutes. Once you get hte hang of it it'll be easy. Also the final boss it's not a problem (just don't get there with 60DP). Just bring a broad head arrow with you.

Another vote for Sepulchure of Dragimmar.
Completed it with Margrid (barrage / paragon-shouts), Morgahn (defensive stuff), Dunkoro (heavy prot), the 2 Ele henchies, Mhenlo and ... Zho, I think it was. Barely had any fire damage, ironically enough... yet managed to get through it just fine. I have yet to even find the Ooze Pit.

I checked ooze pit and it can be done fast yes, I don't know about sepulchure as I haven't optimised a farm run yet there.
I can't seem to find the hidden secret though at the end. It should be 'behind the final boss to the right of the reward chest'? Killed the 3 oozes and their spawns, the chest appears and I examined the room with 'light of deldrimor but with no succes. The hidden treasure remains a secret to me at this point. Nevertheless it's a fast and easy run.

For Ooze pit i just used 2 SF eles 1 Warder with deep freeze, 2 monk hench, blood hench and interupt hench..
rushed through pretty fast, get to the 3 bosses and kill them all .. when all the other buggers spawn run 4 chest collecto items and resign .. let h/h deal with aggro =P

Could someone estimate the # of onyx obtained per run on average? Or the number of runs it takes to get 1 onyx?
