An Armor disconnect between genders?

Stylistically, it seems there is a bit of a discrepancy between male and female armors this time around, more so than previous campaigns.

Warrior - Dwarven, Silver eagle, Norn (a bit due to the back), Monument (a bit)
--> Most prominent is the male chestpiece of the Dwarven which is supposedly a set judging by the female version
--> lack of prominent eagle wings on the female Silver eagle set in addition to the lack of full coverage of the abdomen/elbow/thigh

Paragon - Norn (the female version isn't given pants...she must be cold :/)

Mesmer - Monument (it is kind of obvious that they are so dissimilar in style)

Dervish - Monument (female version has a metallic chestplate while the male one looks like FOW's cloth)

Monk Dwarven (possibly because it is loosely based off elite Woven for the top of the female one, and Sacred for the male one)

Some older sets:
Necromancer - Vabbian (you'd think they aren't related)

================================================== =======

It could be something like the Elite Templar leggings, which appear as a skirt on the female version and as leggings on the male version. Or maybe something more complex like the enormous difference between male and ranger, mesmer armors since Prophecies.

Then again it might just be me overanalyzing.

Yeah, i noticed the disconnect too, but thats what happens when everything is re-skinned. And seconded on the female sin armors. I'll stick with vabbian, kthx. After seeing the male eagle war i was like :O but once i laid eyes on the female (my war) ...

I didn't like the male that much, but would have considered it for my (female) warrior if it wasn't covered in the pale 'aim sword here' patches (aka bare skin) that ANet often seems to feel to be required for female armours even when the male equivalent is fully covered... Still, if I find myself with nothing better to spend my gold on if/when I pack up GW1 and move to 2, I might pick up a set if the inheritor is male...

To the OP: My gut feeling is that you're both over- and under-analysing - there's been an armour disconnect between the genders since the game started - some simply due to the different fashions between the genders (primarily mesmers) and some due to the apparently overriding imperative to provide cheesecake.

I haven't seen the new armor but I highly doubt it will get me to budge off my Kurzick set. The only change I plan to make in armor is go from the 1k to 15k. Kurzick is simply the best looking set out there.

I like the idea of armors being different. ^_^ Of course, letting a warrior go out there in underwear doesn't really fit with reality, but look at the Norns. They're practically nekkid.

The primary reason I got Norn armor for my female Ranger was because she was wearing 15k Druid's and seeing her in that in the Far Shiverpeaks looked just wrong. I got cold just looking >.>

The worst culprit of the lot for Warriors is the female Norn.

Bare back and sides of torso, bare legs. The male is fully armoured. They could at least give the poor girls a shirt and trousers.

The style doesn't even really say Norn - they're all in brown and gold with celtic knotwork on them and their armor.

For now, I shall be sticking with my 15k Charr hide. Though I'm starting to feel a tad guilty about it as I like Pyre Fierceshot.

I don't mind Luxon or Vabbian because it seems to fit the climate and style of the cultures its found in. (And TBH, Sunspear looks too heavy for its climate - all that steel in a place that seems to go for baking hot sun and deserts?)
