Build Tips for Newbies?

I just got Nightfall, I'm going to get the first two campaigns and Eye of the North soon, but I was just wondering if anyone has tips for me in my builds? I have a Magic the Gathering background, so I understand some builds beat other builds, like decks, but which build is simple to begin with?

Also, does Nightfall have new skills for Assasins? I think i'd like that class so...

Yeah, nf has 25 new sin skills.

If your gonna be an assassin in nf, mine wasn't that sophisticated But i remember the elite was Mobius strike, but temple strike is amazing too. Gets the target dazed AND blinded. So it works on tons of enemies

Hope i helped

If you play warrior... Go W/Mo ("Wammo")... Everyone will love you and bow down to your skill; you'll be extremely popular!

Here is a link to the guildwiki.org build site

As you will see, there is no one uber build for any profession. It all depends on what you are fighting and your fighting style.

Have fun experimenting.

I suggest spending a lot of time on http://www.pvxwiki.com, reading about builds, their strengths, weaknesses and so forth, you will eventually learn what works and what doesnt. Also check out the guides section from the main page under 'miscellaneous builds'.

Good luck

You got the link to the build wiki which is good, but i'd also recomend experimenting on your own. It'll give you a better understing of how the game mechanics work.

one note..u can not create an assassin in NightFall. Also a "wammo" is only good until a certain lvl. After you start encountering enemies with remove enchantment skills you will suffer a terrible fate. and "wamml" is a term generally used to describe newbie warrior/monks.

But as others have stated...try different skills etc. If you find yourself using more of your secondary profession's skill rather than your primary skills maybe you should think about creating that profession instead.. For example...

you don't want to be a warrior/monk running 12pts in the healing prayres line and using numerous monk skills...if you want to monk...build one.

^^ The above poster is right. If you do not have Factions, you will not be able to play an assassin.

If you're dying to play an assassin, you will first need to go out and buy Factions and then create an assassin. Work your way through Factions until you get to the main city. You will then be able to instantly transport your assassin back and forth between Nightfall and Factions and often as you like.

It sounds like you are new to Guild Wars. To be honest, I find assassins to be someone tricky to play. You might want to try a more straightforward class like a warrior or a ranger before you venture out to an assassin. Assassins are actually pretty good, but if they aren't played right they die ALOT! Consider them to be a good challenge to your gaming skills...if you're a good player you will do well...if you aren't, you'll probably giveup on your assassin like most people have.

for starters I'd say Warrior and Elementalist are the easiest classes to begin with as they're both pretty straight forward.
Necros, Dervishes and Paragorns are a bit more advanced.
Mesmers, Rangers and Monks are the most advanced classes.
this goes for both PvE and PvP.
remember, each class has strengths and weaknesses, focus on your strengths instead of trying to reduce your weaknesses

Personally, I think a Spear Paragon is about as C-Space, newbie-friendly as this game gets gets. It's really hard to die, and very easy to kill your foe.

The first build in this thread, for example: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10151254 Use Merciless Spear or Vicious Attack + GftE! until you get Cruel Spear.

edit: Bah, didn't see the OP's post date.

rangers, warriors, and elementalists are the best starters imo. warriors are in low demand though (a good third of the ppl are warriors).

i guess choose which profession you want and come back to us. keep in mind that you cant make any build you want right off the bat.
