Just Bought Prophesies
pcinfoman
I just bought GW Prophesies and have not installed it. My bigest concern so far is that there is no manual in the box. There is a keyboard cheat sheet and the CD, but no manual. I would have expected to see an explanation of the classes, professions, stats, and basic game info. Maybe even a map of the land.
I am feeling a bit dissapointed so far. I know there is lots of info in the Wiki and there are no montly fees, but it still seems like a bit of a jip after shelling out $30.

You could've spent the time you used to type that learning. Just dive right in! You've already said wiki has a lot of info.... so keep it handy.
Is this just a rant because you're not happy with your purchase? Nothing you can do except throw it away! Now get out there and get after it!

There should be a manual in there (you paid for it)... cant you go back to the shop and ask for an explenation (read: replacement)??
Neo Nugget
The manual is pretty big. Had all the info for me.

I just went to the guildwars.com website there is no way i can find to contact anybody there. How do I find out if a manual is supposed to come in the box?

you would have to go to support which would lead you to plaync.com thats where the guildwars support it, but you don't need it because you can get an online version of the manual off the gw's site.

http://www.guildwars.com/products/gu...ts/default.php is the link you should follow to see the contents of the prophecies box

If there's no manual in the box, then you have the right to ask for a replacement from the store you bought the game from. Although a lot of info in the Prophecies game manual is a bit outdated (the joys of an online game), there's still some very interesting reading in it.

In all honesty...you shouldn't need a manual to play GeeDub...we have some of the most retarded people in the gaming community playing this game...people who wear velcro shoes play this game...

The last time I bought Prophecies.. hm.. I slightly remember getting a manual.. hm.. I think I'm getting old or something.. hey, it was more than 2 years ago.
You don't get "codes" for the GotY items, but one code. If you don't have all the items that were supposed to come in the box, go back to the store. Have you opened/ripped the sheet with your key? Because the store might not take it back if you already have.

Yes, you should have received a full box unless you bought it as a return/there are still places that do that.
But, of all the things you will do in Prophecies, you will likely stand at the very point you started just staring in wonder for a long long time - everything else you will learn on your own and through wiki.

When I bought the game it had a manual. However, the manual was worthless, especially compared to the vast knowledge available on guildwiki.
Best advice, join a guild and ask for help. You'll make friends and the veteran players will explain things WAY better than that crappy manual ever will. Most of the manual has crap it in like explanations of the war, the history of the NPCs you'll encounter...etc. Not exactly a wealth of info. However I do agree with the previous poster...you should have received the crappy manual since you paid for it. Just take the box back and ask for them to open another game up and pull out the manual for you.

I have a 1.3 CM think GW manual, 144 pages. Contains the game rules, info, the beginning story with Devona etc, history of guild wars, etc. Also got the quick reference card, little plasic card with a ranger on it with the key, and a booklet with advertisment for NCsofts over games. (standard GW game)

The wiki has a guide for beginning GW players, if you don't want to wait for the manual.
Prophecies Beginner Guide
And here's a link to the Official GW Wiki.
They're both pretty good, but one sometimes has information that another doesn't, so it's good to check both.

You say you have the Keyboard Quick Reference and a CD, but do you also have a sheet of paper with a code or a credit card type thing that reads "game activation card"? If you do not, you should return the game immediately and demand a refund, because without the code you will not be able to play at all.
These things occasionally happen, people sell their CD/Box over even though they have already used the key.

I think it's now on the cards...
but when I purchased my game, the key was in the cd-insert and you had to scratch off the grety stuff (like an instant lottery ticket).
There is no key for the bonus items (it's part of your master account information)
When your ingame, just type in /bonus and the items will appear in your inventory.

I believe that pcinfoman will have no problems with learning about the game by himself, but the problem is that the box should* have a manual, but it didnt.
Personally i find game manuals to be more entertaining than informing, you get to learn some lore, see cool artwork, kinda immerse yourself in the game while your patches are being downloaded...
You should go back to the store and ask for a replacement.
*as stated by someone above. I have bought prophecies via the ingame store so had no box and dont know for sure what its supposed to contain, but both my factions and nightfall boxes had manuals.

I like game manuals, keep me entertain while doing business in the toilet. Anyway shame that you live outside UK, I have 3 Prophecies manuals for some unknow reason and I only have 2 copies of the game. Could post 1 to you if you live here but you don't really need it to play the game.
Um..you do have the game activation code, right?
