Is it possible to consolidate all of the game content from the Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, and Eye of the North discs to a single DVD or a directory? I'm just looking for a more convenient way to install the Guild Wars game content, as there are now eight discs to account for, where one or two DVDs would do the job.
I've already tried directly copying the disc contents to a directory, and although the first disc's contents will install, the second's (and presumably the third's) will not, as the installer looks for an actual disc rather than a directory.
Possible to Consolidate Game CDs/DVDs?

You don't actually have to do multiple installs. Just punch in the access keys from the other campaigns into the existing GW client on your machine.
All the campaigns have been significantly updated since those discs were mastered, so there's gonna be some download updates time.

In that case, do you know if there's a way to pre-download the game content for the campaign or expansion that hasn't been installed yet? I have a somewhat crappy internet connection, so patching in content on the go isn't the most ideal solution, especially if I'm in a group with other people. For instance, I've tried just using the downloadable game client from the Guild Wars site, and it takes an eternity to get anywhere in the game because each new location initiates a download of hundreds or thousands of file that can take 5-10 minutes.

The good news is, though, is that you've only got to do it once. XD

You can add an -image command to your game shortcut. Right click your game shortcut, and edit the Target line so that it reads this (assuming that you installed GW on drive C):
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image
This will make your client download everything, although if you're on a slow connection this will probably take all night to do (or longer if your connections really slow). Once it's downloaded everything, you can remove the -image command from the shortcut and play normally.

Right then, if you have GW:EN dvd, then that's the only dice you'll need for now, it'll have the upto date data (well by the time of release). You don't even need any dice really, because all of the data can be download from Anet.
So basically if you have a clean pc, install from the gw:en dvd, no need for the earlier chapter dices. When you done installing from the dvd, do what Toutatis said above OR go to start > run > "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image, if you cant be bother to make and delete a short cut like me.
This will download everything in one go, so you won't have to download anything ever again (til the next update). Be advice, the time it will take to dowload is up to your internet connection speed.

-image works great and once you have downloaded all the updates using this method.
Burn the whole folder to a duel layer DVD if you have a DVD Burner will save another big download if you ever have to reinstall
your OS or game you will still prolly have to update a little but not a huge chunk.
I do this once every 2 months so I have a reasonable new client.

Yanman.be
I do this every time on startup

Cool, thanks
I'm updating the client right now -- 63000 or files to go.
Does downloading a fresh client every few months make a difference? Does some of the content become obsolete or something?
