PlayNC Merchandise (Europe)

Ok, so I just had a look at the PlayNC merchandise that has just been made available in Europe.

The T-shirts are OK I guess. The badges are interesting, and I do like the door size poster.

However... £350 ($700) for a 2gb Ipod Nano??!!! That is just insane, even if it is a "limited edition".

It's not insane. It's Guild Wars. I would pay double for it.

I don't know a single person who is unfashionable enough to wear those horrible teeshirts. A crack team of monkeys...on crack...must have designed them. They look like try-hard surfy shirts for fat people. Horrible. Just horrible.

Thank god I have some taste and would never even dream of buying one of those. Seriously guys, what were you thinking designing something that dreadful and expecting people to pay money for it?

In other news, the ipod is cool. But so's my green shuffle. Wouldn't give it up for the world. Minimalism ftw! Besides it goes well with my clothes...you know, the ones that actually look good?

I think the iPod is rather overpriced. If it were a 8GB Nano it would be okay, I think, but for the price they have on the site I can buy an iPhone or a 80GB vid iPod.

The other stuff's pretty cool, especially the t-shirts. You can actually wear them outside your own home, even to work. I love the minimalistic design.

Everything on there is seriously over priced and the t-shirts are ugly. I don't even want one. The hoodies are like $100 and that iPod price is ridiculous. There is not one thing I would buy on that website.

The need to fire who ever did it and try again. It totally sucks.

It's kinda sad how people begged Anet for merchandise, and now there are people bitching about it.

They probably assumed it would instantly match their particular tastes and bank account, which of course won't happen. $700 for an iPod? I'd rather have my hair set on fire and put out with a sledgehammer than pay that odd-ball price.

You do realise that the GW iPod costs twice as much as a 8GB iPhone right?

Hmm, let's see... an uncool last generation iPod Nano (yes, they got updated 3 days ago) or two cool iPod Touches or even an iPhone and an iPod Touch together... the choice is dead obvious.

New 2008 Ipod is comming out and the GW ipod still a 2005 model one.I could buy a 08' Ipod Nano and a 08' Ipod Classic for the price of a GW Ipod(2005 model) Anyway i'm not that addict to get a GW skin for my Ipod.

It IS kinda overpriced. They dont have cofee mug (Boo-hoo!) or, more importantly: cute stuffed charr thingie that so many people wanted.

T-shirts are okay-ish, but their deisgns are really not anything that you would expect from stuff related to GW, instead you get tribal tatoo stuff that is currently sooo overdone pretty much everywhere, and wearing this kind of stuff makes one look pretty stupid, at least where i live and i my social circles. (completelly unrelated: WTB decent monk (and ritualist) armor that has NO tatoos at all. 15k wanderers just fails on that)

Ipod is, WTF? What does ipod has to do with gw. besides, people have already pointed out, its way too overpriced for being basically normal old 2G ipod with GW sticker on it.

It seems like ncsoft did that will little cooperation from anet.

I must say, I sweatshirt that i might have bought for $30ish, but being $100, is ridiculous. All it has is a super tiny logo on the front and that's it. for $100. The concept of GW merchandise was killer, but with those prices, i'd be suprised if anyone bought anything.

If you knew what those iPods cost to make you wouldn't be moaning about the price. The finish used to put Eve on the back includes some very expensive components. IIRC there was only 15 of these made, so there's no economies of scale to help defray the *extremely* high cost of the prototype.

And no, I'm not going to say how much they cost to make. Suffice to say the store price, while high, is very reasonable given the cost to produce it. Whoever buys one (there's likely only 2 or 3 available) is going to be the proud owner of a very impressive collector's item.

Anet management has shown itself to be dependable on making bad decisions, and this is no exception

it's just a matter of time that these go down the path paved by Troika. Enough management blunders = time to brush up that resume

My local Costco was dumping the 2gb Nano for $50 yesterday. They had a flat of them to sell. Guess Apple didn't tell Costco they were making the 2gb Nano obsolete.

Personally I don't think the T-shirts are all that bad, but then I'm the kind of person that thinks ipods are awful.
Any plans for a Guild Wars Zen?

the hoodie is overpriced, at least they should have embroidered the logo on the back, and the picture doesn't show the full logo just war.

I like the blue pic of this mouse on the right, but I dont like the orange when it lights up. Heck, I want it in BLUE!!! - My whole PC, keyboard + current mouse are blue :'(
