Mantid resurrection skill
Iuris
We all know that for some reason some mantids in the Charr homelands cag simply "get up" after they have been killed.
The skill used is not known.
Well, during the preview event I could have sworn that I have twice glimpsed a monster skill in the skill monitor of the little buggers. I never managed to get off a screenshot and I never managed to read the description, but the skill was called something along the lines of "metamorphosis". And NO, I'm not mistaking it with the monster skill that the mantids use all the time, the parasitic bite.
Has anyone spotted that skill? Or was it a hallucination?
Perhaps someone with the know-how (and the guts) could look at the skill names in the game's innards?

Metamorphosis is a skill the Kraits under level 20 use to change into different ones, which suprisingly also works after they've died.
Haven't seen the mantids activating any skills either, not even the ritualist line of delayed resses. I have seen them get back up though, it's weird.

I think, might be wrong, but they have a monster only skill, similar to parisitic bond, that once it ends it will resurect them. So if you kill one while hexed and then it ends, they are resurected.
Ive yet to catch this skill on me long enough to confirm, ive seen the icon but havent been able to read it, to many hexes/conditions coming and going on my war to keep the mouse over the icon

Incubus do this too. Whats going on?
Stolen Souls
I'm fairly sure the incubus just fly away/hide. Then reappear again. Similar to how the wurms dig underground, then reappear.
And actually, come to think of it...maybe the Mantids do this, as well (dig/reappear)?

/shrug You're right about the incubus, they do fly down to attack, then fly back up to hide in mid-battle. The mantids, though, I honestly think they are reviving somehow. I thought that at first, that maybe they were digging underground, so I payed more attention. I would count the group, say 5 Mantids, and when the battle was over, there would be 5 corpses - suddenly, 1-2 would "pop-up" with about 20% of their health. It looks like it's the same amount of health each time, too.
So I have no idea what's going on here. Not too annoying, but it can be - especially with minions. Everyone would start running off, and the minions of course drag behind, then a couple mantids would pop-up and pull the minions back, making them drag even further. Then we gotta sit around for about a minute while they kill the mantids and waltz back to us - or equally as annoying run back to kill them and then keep going.

Ah, I see. I knew for a fact that the Incubus do that (attack/hide/attack), because I'd be fighting them, then they decide to vanish, leaving me tapping my foot and twiddling my thumbs until they decide to fly back into the center of my minion army, lol.
I didn't test the mantids, though. So I was just throwing it out there as a "maybe".

Incubus fly up then come down.
Mantises tend to die and one will res at 25% health after the battle is over.

I have different issue:
Monsters becoming imune to damage.
Monster suddenly stops taking damage from all sources except life stealing and degen, after few seconds it resumes taking damage as normal.
There is no enchant that would suggest stuf like SOA, it does not use any monster skill, and usually has no other monster in range which would use something on them.
It has happened for several different monsters already, last time it were inscribed ettins in bloodstone mission.

The immune to damage thing seems to have stopped for me... idk whether it was fixed or i havent been in the right area and those mantid... i will wipe their group and be moving to the next group when all of a sudden my mm at the back is attacked by a rezed one... wierd

I also had problems with monsters suddenly taking no damage, sometimes it would last for as long as 20 seconds. However, since one of the updates on the 1st of september I have no longer encountered it.

You are doing part of the finding the Bloodstone series and have Gadd helping you. He casts iron mist on things.

You know, that could be one of the most profoundly shocking explanations Of course. Why didn't I see it?

Yet another reason to hate that uppity little floppy-eared freak.
I've seen the mantids magically rezzing too... it's okay by me, because at such low health they're easy kills, and if my MM's already exploited them he gets a fresh corpse for free. I think. Either way it's not a big issue... I'd just like to know why they're getting back up. Spazzer

Gadd uses Iron Mist on enemies. Familiarize yourself with it when you're around him. :V efb Leslie
The mantid monster skill is Parasitic Bite, provides them with a few seconds of +1 health regen at the cost of your -1 health degen. Says nothing about being able to ressurect after death; it seems like a bug in my opinion.

It could be a bug as Leslie mentions. For me, proximity to the mantids seems to have an effect. If I stand around after that battle I'll have 1-3 rez over the span of about 2-3 minutes. However, if I immediately leave the area none seem to rez.
One possible explanation is the interupting of some rez by other mantids, which the game then asserts later on (through some game glitch) after all the mantids are dead. I'm not sure if these mantids use rez as I was busy healing during my encounters with them. But I do know I have been using interrupts in my group. I have in another instance seen a player rez himself after dying. I am not sure if this was done through a skill combo glitch b4 he died, or if this was a cheat. If it was from a skill combo glitch, then these mantids could be exploiting the same thing. Either way, I shall be performing some observatory research of these mantids in battle. flettir

there has already been a thread about this...i suggest the mods merge them or something. something to join the 800 "omfg i got ripped off cuz i didn't read the freaking game description" threads. please, just...look through the forum first. HolyHawk
Someone can check, but I think that once the corpse is exploited, they wont revive anymore.
lutz
This is also making me really irritated. I KNOW the Mantids are dead, I re-check them every time. Somehow, though, they just keep coming up, and it's not a profession-specific skill, because all Mantids do it, not just the monks, or dervishes.
I'm not sure what it is, but an explanation or a fix would be nice. Spazzer
