Yes! I can easily buy the gloves for 75 ectos without me saying I have no life. If you have been playing this game for awhile. Then you should already know how to make profit. If you don’t know then that’s just too bad. your going to be a whiner for the rest of your guild wars life.

Tips: . Everything in GW is going in circle. What I mean in circle is you have to make time for your self to gather some gold or farm some greens and sell it, not just play and do mission and work on your title. Do what I do. I tomorrow work on my title, next day do missions, next day do some farming, next day sell to make profit. GW is base almost like real life the only thing is sometimes it does get boring. But hey if you want something then you have to work hard for it.

gw:end demonstrates how the game designers are loosing touch with the average player.

My point being that maybe it's time for those that object to the price of these items to take a step back, a few deep breaths and remember why they were attracted to playing Guild Wars in the first place. It sure as heck was'nt to get worked up about high-end vanity loot.

I'm in no way trying to be self-righteous or jump on a "Down with teh leet loot!!" soap box but it's amazing how quickly such a grind for loot mentality and frustration can sneak up on you as it did me.

Before you know it your spending more time farming and grinding that you are playing the game and having fun....for glowie hands...in a game.

Lately I've been running around in my 1k canthan laughing at all the characters standing around with the chaos gloves, glasses, ninja mask, fiery hands, eagle armor combos.

I'm not dissing the gloves as I think they look great and each to their own but don't forget your roots or motivations for playing either.

Not sure exactly where this thread is going any more...

But if you want the Chaos Gloves then you have to earn them just like the rest of us, the price is what it is.

Having Anet devalue them after so many have already purchased them would be as big a slap in the face as when they changed the aquisition of Razah and gave back the gems that were now worth about 1/5 what we paid for them in the first place, those of us that could not farm them that is.

Oh dear, am I alone in thinking that the devs have watched a few too many the fast and the furious movies a few too many times? :P

As to the price, if you don't like them (and I don't) the price hardly matter really. If you do like them and want them then there is your motivation for putting the time in on gathering the money and resources to have a pair. As the old saying goes, you pay your money you make your choice.

Oh and they look great on those screenshots of the female mesmers alongside FoW armour! As to ele FoW armour, if you want to go for the sports bike rider look then it's the armour for you really isn't it? Looks like you could fall of your bike at quite a high speed in that stuff and be ok. My personal tastes though veer more towards kurzick, monument and Ancient though (have a set of ancient so far, just wish the dyable areas covered more of it, as I tried lots of dyes but the only ones that went well with the rest of the armour were earth tones, so I went with boring brown.).

Overall though, on most of those screenshots, the chaos gloves looked more like an accident in a uranium processing plant than an item of elite armour.

QFT. LOLOLOLOL

Seriously though, I still think the only passable chaos gloves are the ones for mesmer. No forearm exposed! Still debating whether or not to get it for mine, I'd rather get some nicely skinned weps or something.

To me the real question is... why are Chaos gloves... well.... Chaos anythings as popular as they are? It's easily the crappiest "elite" weapon/armor skin in the game; the things are clearly little more than photoshopped flares. Give me the horrid unwieldliness of Dragon Gauntlets any day xD

you guys are kidding right? this is pathetic.
you're all complaining about the fact that they're way too expensive. well guess what? you don't have to get them! zomfg!
there are plenty of other things around, the best stuff shouldn't be cheap. and what about those players that already have FoW armor and the rarest equipment in the game? should they get another campaign in which they simply have nothing to spend their money on? this is aimed at all of those people.

and back to the price...sure, it's a lot, but if you have nothing better to spend money on it's not really too bad. Personally, I never farm, and I've never gotten one of those ridiculously rare drops that make you an instant millionaire...or even anything close. however, just playing the game for...i'd estimate around 300 hours, and not spending almost anything during that time period, as well as a good amount of HM, i got up to 600k.
so if you played the game without diverting your attention to this self-righteous bitching, you'd be fine with it.

I'm not gonna buy the gloves by themselves cos they don't work with my other armors.

But I've started saving the 600ectos for a full suit when ANet get around to doing it. Quake in fear, the walking lightbulb is coming.

It might actually revitilize the economy and the ecto market if they do make it..

therefor, the chaos set gets a ./signed from me, even though I am perfectly content with the FoW/Vabbian/etc. my chars have.

In my case the 'fun' (grind) was more the journey than the destination. I saw the pics of the female mesmer too and that combination is indeed stylish and it feels good to die in style right Either I throw mine on a mule or salvage them to get some money back. It's the forearm thingy.

While looking for something like that amongst all monk armors (none had one like the mesmer forearm cover up), my eye catched the norn monk armor. I can finally make a battlemonk who nobody will allow in his group ofcourse Merely around 50k, 'braveheart' mask included, compared to fow this is nothing) Style doesn't always equal 'bling'.

Maybe a full set could be UW armour of something.

A nice gold sink for sure.

However with ecto as low as they are it could increase gold buying. I would hate for something similar to the mini pet fiasco occuring where they increased the number of massive gold buyers by alot.

Yes I do agree with you. I think that adding any sort of excessive grinds to any game with an ingame reward promotes people to buy gold. Mainly when it seems the lion's share of the gamers don't make much gold to begin with

Hmmm I can farm for weeks/months or just slap down 10 bucks to someone who is farming 24/7 and get near instant gratification and no superboring game play...what ever should I do

When I first saw the price on the chaos gloves, I was put off initially. I didn't consider it a waste of money really, but I doubted that the satisfaction of getting them would justify the amount of work I would need to put into them. Additionally I was even going so far as to say, "Well if I get my ecto and get cold feet before buying them, I could get FoW armor with the ecto and have it transfer in the hall, cause these gloves won't," which was a bogus excuse cause the armor was fugly. Even so, I took a hard look at the destroyer gauntlets too... and the reason I didn't get them was because:

1. They didn't go well with my character. I have a female ranger with several elite sets of armor and the destroyer gauntlets just didn't look right. I had seen some screenshots passed around with primeval armor and it looked OK, but still not justifying the combo. With chaos gloves, I was taking the chance that they would look better with my armor because of the chest cutoff points on the arms, which were lower than most. That means less skin showing and a more uniform look.

2. They couldn't be dyed. Yes I know, what's the point in making the lava green or white or purple, and I agree. But it's that degree of customization that is lost with a static skin which made me lose interest (it's also why I don't like using greens). The chaos gloves were fully color customizable, allowing for a wide range of schemes with my existing armor. In my opinion, color harmony is probably the most overlooked aspect of making combo armor look good.

3. The prices of cores were shooting up fast. What difference does that make? Enough people were disappointed with the chaos gloves and decided to go with the cheaper gauntlets that glowed. This past weekend I saw cores selling for 1k, and being bought for 800g. Ecto was low at the time. The trader was selling for 5.5k, but I found people willing to sell for 4.8k and rarely 4.6k in bulk. It took lots of time and patience, but I eventually got my 75 by being fair yet firm when trading. Many people refused to sell for 1g less than 5k at the time, which, if I saw prices and demand rising looking for a return on my stash, I would understand. But I still looked elsewhere and found them cheaper.

Now, how did I acquire all of those ectos? I'm a packrat. I have extra characters that hold items (mules) I have kept over the course of playing, and instead of selling items on the spot when I acquire them, I keep the good ones and salvage the bad ones. This is roughly how my earnings were divided up:

1. Weapon mods. 1k here and 3k there adds up over time. People are easily discouraged from selling mods that have little demand, but if you have a large variety of them stored up, and you bounce from city to server and back scanning the party search window for "WTB" you'll find that the demand for the smallest things are actually quite high... they just disappear fast because they are common. You need to get to these people first. For instance, there's this girl who wants an ebon scythe snathe for a pvp build. She goes to district 1 because there's more people and a better chance she'll find one quick. Now how many people have one of these mods lying around? Not many. How does she find it so quick? Think about how many people are farming and stopping to ID weapons and selling to merchant and leaving. There's a greater chance some bloke will make a quick buck with his junk he just ID'd by quickly scanning party search rather than selling to merchant right away. You need to beat these people to the punch. Over the course of just one weekend, 4-5 hours a day of non-grind time, I sold about 125k worth of mods. Granted, most of my stores have been depleted now. But that's a third of what I need to get the gloves, and all of the motivation I need to keep going.

2. Minipets. I hate the things. I think they're a waste of money, and they serve me no purpose. However I am ecstatic that people are willing to pay a crapload of money for them right now just to get them to transfer into the hall. One of my characters turned 2 the other day. I get a present. A Harpy Ranger! BAM 30k. Some of my newer characters turned 1 a while ago and I never bothered opening those little blue presents. How much will people pay ingame for an unopened 1st year b-day present? BAM 15k. Why? I dunno... and I got yelled at constantly for selling at such a high price. But every day someone would buy it for that. *shrugs* In one day I sold all of my presents and minipets for 80k total. Not bad. More than halfway there.

3. Greens. Very similar to mods in the fact that only every once in a while do you find a WTB advertisement for one that you have. IMHO, it's always a waste of time to WTS because a) you are stuck in one city on one server and can only advertise one or two items at a time, and b) the people that do respond to your advertisement always cut down your offer and will want to haggle. Always. At any rate, they sell similar to many max mods because you can usually squeeze at least 3-4k out of each one, no matter what it is because you are responding to a WTB advertisement. The buyer wants what you have, and you can dictate the price. Quite the opposite in the real world! I made roughly 65k off of greens over the course of one weekend.

4. Golds. Hard to sell. When you ecounter a WTB looking for a gold, and you present them with choices, they will almost never be interested. People who look for gold items are looking for perfect golds with specific mods which they usually do not advertise and assume that you know what they are looking for. The golds that I did sell were unique skins with a decent base/inscription, and all of them had to be req9. I got lucky with a req8 max monk wand that I had on one of my heroes, it was divine favor and was bought for ~20k. Why, I don't know. You just get lucky with people like that. All in all I made about 45k from golds. That was over the course of about two weekends.

The rest of the difference in price I had on hand from the start. Now a lot of you know these experiences will not apply to everyone. I just wanted to show the people who were complaining about the price the details of what I had to do to earn the gloves. Regardless of whether you are broke, just have a lot of stuff that you didn't want to sell like me, or have plenty of ectos saved up already, it is a chore to get these things. Some may have to work harder than others, and that's just the nature of the game combined with the player's know-how, skill, and luck. I don't consider myself a rich player by getting the gloves. But I wanted to explain that, under certain circumstances, you don't have to endure a no-life grindfest to get these things. My gloves were a product of months and months of playing and enjoying my role without any real dedication to making money, and it finally payed off in a way that puts me on the same level as those who do grind. These expensive items in the game aren't just for the people who live on GW. They are for us too! Take satisfaction in how much better you feel by working hard for something! Hang in there guys, it can be done.

Bright and glowy =/= pretty.

Bright and glowy == lazy A-Net skinners.

That is why I have absolutely no intention of getting them. I agree. They look pretty... sad. Nothing really creative or original in the design.

My guild was actually talking about them yesterday, and I mentioned that if the Devs had made them as glyphs/tattoos on your arms that glowed then THAT would be well worth the 75 ecto (given that it was done well.) As is, they're just another added lazy armor design in GW:EN.

I get things because I want my characters to look good, not because I want to show off to others that I farm more than the average player. I wish ANet cared about the players' characters appearance more than their own (the heroes).

Hello folks how is it going?, Good? that is kool now enough bulls*it. I was glancing through forums and stumbled across this one. I recently obtained Chaos hands I like them cuz they are well flashy. When going through this forum I noticed a lot of people b***hing about how "expensive they are" or how "they don't match" and "what a waste" bullsh*t. It is NOT hard at all to obtain these if you think so your lying to yourself, If you think they are too expensive well so is FoW and if you say FoW is not your lying to your self still. If people want the chaos hands let them, no point in others trying to "trash talk" on people that do have them because your A. to lazy to play the game or B.can't figure how to play GW and get money in game,So just stfu and carry on with your life is it that hard? but while we are all telling each other what they look best on whom or what ever here are my thoughts. On the note of them not matching to many things well that is true but that goes with all gauntlents really. These "collector gauntlets" look the worst on a warrior, assassin, dervishes and most rangers especially the chaos hands (imo) and dragon gauntlets...for one are...oversized/unproportional and 2. ruin a wars sheild. I know for a fact though everyone thinks mesmers look awsome with chaos hands, and necros with destroyer gauntlets but anyway it is up to the people to choose what they want on their chars and if your the one B***hing on how expensive they are on this forum..you could be farming for them instead of b**tching...and others who think they are fugly well tough Sh*t! they are there so deal with it! But, if you want to make them better...go work for Anet...well wait they are working on GW2 atm soo nvm...but stfu and tough Sh*it and all that stuff.

P.S. here is my monk

I can second this guy. What he say is exactly how you make legit money in this game without buying gold online. This is exactly what I did to acquire 12 sets of 15k and 1 set of fow with 2 tormented weapons bought when it was 100k and 70 ectos plus other rare skins. Of course this took me longer than a week, more like a course of a month, but it was worth it. Do before you people who just take the easy way out. Think about this. Can you really take the easy way out all the time in life? I realize that guild wars and life are different, but isn't the basic principle the same?

Its a real shame the gloves won't carry over into GW2 - unless anet fixed HoM (haven't tried it latey I must admit), the gloves don't count toward a full set, but FOW armor does.

I think they look good on my baby girl.

Took me a while to get them, about a month and a half I think.

You know what I thought of when i saw the FoW armor for male wars? I thought it looked like a teapot, and chuckled if I ever saw one dancing cause then i be singing im a little teapot in my head. Anyways, i think that choas gloves are definately overpriced, since you could probably buy a few parts of the FoW armor with that. FoW armor is of course nice for a few classes, but on some of them it looks like complete crap.

Plus, the art isn't even that creative, it seem to me just like a pair of glitched hands. I thought it would have been better of A-net to let us buy things that would make our armor shine like the chaos gloves, like chaos dyes lol, or something that would make our entire armor shiny like that.

I always thought ancient armor went well with the special gloves. (not the helmet though, yuck )
