Make the Guild Wars story an MTG block?
The Lurch
First off, I have no idea whatsoever if this belongs in Sardelac or not. If it doesn't, please move it.
Okay, from what I have seen, very few TCG games are actually played these days, especially ones like the WoW trading card game.
However, one TCG is still alive and strong. I'm speaking of Magic the Gathering, which has been around for twenty-something years. Idk if I'm the only nerd here who plays MTG, but I'm going to assume I'm not, so I'm not going over the rules and stuff. But I was thinking, what about making GW into an MTG block? (A block is a chapter of three different expansions, for example, the first set of GW cards that would be released could be Prophecies +EotN, the second could be Factions, then Nightfall. These three together would make up a block)
Before dismissing this as "Wtf, n00bz0rz you RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing geek, get da hell offa da forums" think about this would do for both Wizards of the Coast and Arena net.
Anet could help advertise GW as a Magic block, appealing to some of the MTG fans, possibly getting some of them to play. Wizards of the Coast (the company who is in charge of MTG, I believe) would make a profit off of the new block as well as possibly bringing in some GW players. Anet could have tournaments/contests to have your character made into a card, etc, etc.
I'm sure this is going to be shot down, then beaten with blunt wooden sticks, and flamed to char broiled, but I'm also a pessimistic person.
If you don't know anything about MTG, you can read Wikipedia's article on it here

I think this sounds alright.
Some one already made an online TCG here a while ago and it was popular.

But then i think they could add this ingame
So you have a minigame :P
So if you got bored you have something to do, but if you make this in real life it could work for people who are on vacation/offline, so their heart is still with guildwars ^^
I have never played MTG, but i always wanted to try it, no-one of my friends play it, so it would get lonely then ...

haven't you still heard, that Guild Wars is based on MTG oO ? sigh
but a TGC like FF 8's one or something like Yu Gi oh as Minigame would be very cool ingame.
Monsters have then a little chance, to drop their personal Card and these Cards could have then different meanings:
1: they are cards for the minigame, each has its own stats, positive effects and so on...
2: Monster Cards could be special Fusion Items, that could be fusined with weapons, focus items/shields or Armors to give those things special bonis, that can only be received via monster cards.
Those cards could have then special AoE-effects (buffs) for example when you fight versus certain monsters or when certain conditions met, or they can double/tripple your gained exp from certain types of monsters and so on.
I think there on ragnarok onlines "card system" ^^
Something like this would be cool to have in GW too.
Each Card getting then to a nice litle artwork picture, that we can look at, when we double click or right click the card item. giving the players additional then 2 new title tracks:
Card Collector and Card Player
3: Cards could be very valuable, thus meaning that there are naturally lesser rare ones and more rare cards. Giving them same colors like for weapons > white, blue, purple, gold, green, "red"
4: card system would be for both system, pve and pve, with the difference, that then exists cards, that are more simple worth to be used in pve, and cards, that are more worth to be used in pvp.
5: cards should be easily exchangeable, players should be able to simple put a card into their things and to exchange them anytime.
combined this with FF7's materia system, items would need to have "slots" to be able to compound cards to the things, up to 4 cards for the weapon, 1 card per armor piece and up to 2 cards for the focus item/shield.
I would find such a card system awesome ^^

It sounds like a sound idea.
I'd probably buy a couple decks just to try and get a Mursaat Card or something.

This could go multiple ways. It could be made into its own card game, in which case I wouldn't touch it (I already play Yu Gi Oh! and MTG, another card game would just get too expensive). Or it could be put into a MTG block like you suggested. In which case, I'd be one of the first ones in line to buy the cards.
Or it could be completely ignored, which would leave me without surprise.

Once I get enough signs, im gonna email this to wizards and Anet, and see what they say. this way, they wont be able to ignore it easily.
Phoenix Tears
no, polymock is just only a little pokemon clone, no tcg like that minigame, which exists in FF8/9

Yea we can make lots of connection between Magic The Gathering and GuildWars. I could make a list here but im sleepy and all.
So, i allways wanted to see more similar stuff at these two games.
But we have to admmit that MTG and GW are completly different universes.
Lets compare both Fireballs.
At Guildwars it will deal a good damage at some targets, but thats about it. AT MTG it can intantly kill a powerful wizard that is capable of casting spells that simply wipe out an entire country.
Not the mention the time rifts.
Nuclear holocausts.
Obliterations
Planeswalkers.
Colossas creatures.
Semi-gods.
Demon hordes.
Guildwars is way more simple!
But i would like to see stuff like: Power Spike - Instant - Counter target spell. That player takes 5 damage.

Wow, I seriously cannot believe people are /signing this. Well, if you do not mind Im gonna post some of the cards I conjured up in my head a whiles back. I'll do 5 of the 6 different card types, a: Sorcery, Instant, Creature, Artifact and an Enchantment.
CREATURE: Devona of Ascalon Legendary Creature: Human Warrior 2/5, 3RR
X T: Tap X target creatures. Devona deals 1 damage to each creature tapped in this way. Play this ability only on your turn.
I was trying to make her seem like she has the elite Earth Shaker for this card
INSTANT:
Duh.
SORCERY: Deathly Swarm - Sorcery - 3BB: Deathly Swarm deals 2 damage to three different targets.
Again, duh.
ARTIFACT: Shiro's Blades - Legendary Artifact: Equipment - 5
Equipped creature gets +3 +3, and gains double strike and lifelink
This would sorta recreate the vampiric ability on the blades, and double strike would make them like the daggers in GW.
ENCHANTMENT: Shadow Form - Enchantment - 2BUU: Enchanted creature has Shroud and is Indestructible. If this enchantment is removed, sacrifice enchanted creature.
...
I think making GW features in MTG wouldn't be hard, I just kinda did it lol.
How much mana do you have untapped over there? Jesus!
And at MTG being to different from GW, MTG's lore takes place in different realms in the Multiverse (Kamigawa for example, didn't have any of that). GW could just be another plane in the Multiverse.
I can see it now, a hidden boss in GW2...
Urza.
