Problems with Eternal Grove and Gyala Hatcherie in Hard Mode
kanuks
Please guys i need sum1 with good heroes to team with me on these 2 missions : The Eternal Grove and Gyala Hatchery. I completed all of Tyrian mission and bonus in HM as well as the first 8 missions in cantha, but these 2 missions are way harder.
Do you guys have some tips to share to complete these 2 missions (Hard mode of course).
I tried both of them many times with heroes / henchies and i just cant get them done. Eternal Grove is obviously impossible to complete without at least one human ally.
Whats the strategy in gyala? Go around or go with the turtles?
Im getting better on Eternal Grove but id like to know some strategies. Me and another guy whith whom i tried kept dieing at the second afflicted attack (the first one really weakens us). On my side i used these heroes : a mm, a sf nuker and a healer (Im a high dps warrior using watch yourself). We start the mission going in the center area from where a few luxon warriors as well as a giant turtle comes. After quickly dispatching these, we split the group with me guarding the north gate and we quickly talk to the juggernauts for them to fight with us. That whole luxon part is incredibly easy. Then comes the cutscene which we automatically skip to have more time for our minions to be in position to fight. The first afflicted attack is quite sick on the north path, i usually wipe until my pard comes and res me. I try to hold as long as i can but my pard never seemed to clear his mob fast enough to help me and he ends up managing to resurrect my party. What do ou guys do to survive that first afflicted hit without too much death penalty?
Any suggestions / tips / partnership would be extremely welcomed.

Thank you very much!

You can do Eternal Grove HM with heroes and hench - check this forum for another thread with a guide in it. Key thing is you need to have good melee shutdown (long lasting blind / weakness and a condition spreader to spam it around). Also, a 4 / 4 split isn't ideal. A MM on his own (with the 3 juggernauts in support) can hold the north gate on his own for the most part - just keep an eye on him and run back to help out if it becomes necessary (help mostly = leading resurrected juggernauts back to the gate).
You should be prepared on this mission to be acting tactically - concentrating more on ordering your guys around rather than pumping out damage.
Gyala is pretty easy - go the back way, but cut in north of the big dome building and work your way down. The groups are smaller up here, so it's easy to get started. Bring 2 MMs and give them both heal area, which helps out a lot against churning earth, and really helps keep the baby turtles alive (assuming you flag them in the middle of the turtles and drop a smoke canister there).

Here's what I do (this was done with a friend and our heroes).
I may be forgetting the builds a bit, but here's the general idea:
W (Name Hidden for Privacy) Not sure of his build.
- N/Mo Master of Whispers (Minion Master)
- Mo/Me Ogden Stonehealer (Healer)
- Mo/Me Tahlkora (Healer)
Rt/D Animus Eversius (melee scythe ritualist using Spirit's Strength
- N/Mo Master of Whispers (Minion Master)
- Mo Tahlkora (Healer)
- E/Mo Vekk (fire nuker)
Flagged each MM at one gate, gave them each a hero monk, had hero monks flagged a bit back so they could heal MMs and Tree Singers.
The rest of us went out and killed the turtles as they came.
Once the Afflicted came we went back to the gates; if one side was overwhelmed the other side would come over to help.
Masters with minimal effort. I wish all Factions missions were this easy to get Masters on (Tahnnakai Temple FTL).

Thanks a lot guys im gonna these strats really soon (In regard to the post above, tahnnakai temple was pretty easy, i did it in less than 20 mins with heroes/henchies. Theres a few key spots at which u need to do something special though)

Well, i just got done doing Gyala in HM with only H/H. It wasn't too bad, just took an incredibly long time. The key is to know the spawn points so when you go the back way you don't get mowed by pop ups. Also, even though there are enchantment removals in the area, I still brought dunk with LB and just had him maintain it on everyone while flagged back. Surprisingly, the enemy AI rarely removed the enchantments. Also, an SS necro helps a lot, as there are incredible amounts of warriors that like to ball up and get owned by it. For my 3rd hero, i used a mm with jagged bones. I myself played a warrior with a d-slash build and SY. For henches, bring the 2 monks, spirit hench, and earth hench. Thus, you should be able to survive, but it takes a while to kill mobs. I think the whole mission took me like 60 minutes. Oh well, it was worth it, as gyala was the last one i needed for the Guardian title

We're not having any luck with HM Eternal Grove at all, the last mission I need for my Guardian title. Tried EoE per wiki talk page but that didn't help either, always get wiped when the Warrior boss arrives. Juggernauts are also extremely idiotic and slow. Can I have Oola's golems instead, please? Gah, I just want the stupid title.
Gyala and Tahnnakai were both fine for me since we can take things at our own pace, as long as we kill all we can kill before the turtles move or we're within the time limit. Granted, I have an HM buddy with me so we don't have incompetent henchies...

Granted, I have an HM buddy with me so we don't have incompetent henchies... You will need 2 minion masters, when the luxons atack, split in 2 groups and start picking off luxons. This should be fairly easy. You will need to have a minion army assembled before the afflicted come.
There's a pattern in the afflicted mobs. At first I assume you split forces left and right'(don't forget to talk to the Juggers, the left team should take two, and the right team the other one). A party of 4 should be able to hold them off UNTIL the afflicted maaka (the warrior boss) arrives. When this happes the group at the right should flag an extra hero to the left side to assist.
Use weakness or blind to kill maaka, because he will be in a very foul mood and he WILL redecorate you facial features if you don't bring shutdown.
When maaka is gone, go back to a 4/4 split. This should work, and if it doesn't you can always rush for help, JUST KEEP THE GATES BLOCKED. Don't rush to the rescue with your entire squad, but just flag a hero.
When the last team arrives (rit and assa bosses) the team on the right will need 1 or 2 extra guys. Keep 2 heroes to guard the left gate though, because 2-3 pesky warriors will sneak in and kill the singers, ruining your master's reward at the very end of the mission. Kill the bosses, and celebrate.
Some skills that really come in handy:
[skill]enfeebling blood[/skill]
[skill]restore condition[/skill] (afflicted rangers with BHA suck, and they spike really well)
[skill]blinding flash[/skill]
[skill]deep freeze[/skill]
[skill]aegis[/skill]
Hope I'm being of any help, this is how I beat grove on HM. Don't curse me in 5 languages if this doesn't work at first try, because this mission in HM is a real pain, so expect to get creamed once or twice before you get the hang of it.

Ebon Dust Auora is totally HAX in Eternal Grove, as lots of the damage comes from melee

Don't worry, we've failed this mission so many times we're kinda numb now. :P

Will try this, too, thanks!

My strategies were, for Gyala, to of course use the exploit. That was easy enough, and oddly I managed it with a full human team. We had 2 or 3 monks, a warrior, couple of eles, a ranger... For some reason the warrior actually worked as a tank for once, and as much as I hate the idea of "tanking" it was very handy to have the warrior aggro a mob, so I could slam on the Deep Freeze and the other ele could case AoE spells.
I managed Eternal Grove HM a few weeks ago, after a LOT of frustration I finally found the winning combination...although it's more likely that my bad luck was on recharge. My problem with Eternal Grove was that it's all good until Maaka's group comes...then everything dies. I managed this with 2 humans, 6 heroes. To survive the luxon onslaught we split into two teams of 4 and waited by the gates, dealing with any luxons who wanted to have a go. When it got quiet, we could toddle outside and kill the turtles. When the afflicted arrive we stayed in our groups. The gate where Maaka enters took 2 Juggernauts and the ther gate took 1. Each team used the following builds: Elementalist 1: [skill]Fire Attunement[/skill][skill]Glyph of Lesser Energy[/skill][skill]Savannah Heat[/skill][skill]Teinai's Heat[/skill][skill]Searing Heat[/skill][skill]Immolate[/skill][skill]Glowing Gaze[/skill][skill]Deep Freeze[/skill] Elementalist 2: [skill]Fire Attunement[/skill][skill]Glyph of Lesser Energy[/skill][skill]Savannah Heat[/skill][skill]Teinai's Heat[/skill][skill]Fireball[/skill][skill]Immolate[/skill][skill]Glowing Gaze[/skill][skill]Mark of Rodgort[/skill] Necromancer: [skill]Jagged Bones[/skill][skill]Animate Bone Fiend[/skill][skill]Animate Vampiric Horror[/skill][skill]Blood of the Master[/skill][skill]Rotting Flesh[/skill][skill]Putrid Bile[/skill][skill]Signet of Lost Souls[/skill][skill]Resurrection Chant[/skill] Monk: [skill]Dismiss Condition[/skill][skill]Glyph of Lesser Energy[/skill][skill]Aegis[/skill][skill]Words of Comfort[/skill][skill]Signet of Rejuvenation[/skill][skill]Light of Deliverance[/skill][skill]Dwayna's Kiss[/skill][skill]Resurrection Chant[/skill] Rotting Flesh was disabled until we reached the Afflicted - the Luxons were human so they could spread the disease back. It just sort of worked...miraculously. When mobs run toward the gates slap deep freeze on them, and Mark of Rodgort, then pound them with the AoE skills. It's the only area of Hard Mode I've found a real use for Fire Magic...the AoEs work much better since the foes are all bottlenecked at the gates. Wouldn't advise it elsewhere. Vickie
Woohoo! We did it! Thanks all for the tips.
On the left (took 2 Juggernauts) we had: Deep Freeze + Savannah Heat ele (me) Ebon Dust derv tank (hero) Jagged Bones MM (hero) LoD monk (hero) On the right (can't remember builds...): SS necro (friend) Dervish hero? Fire ele hero Monk hero Haha, slightly OT but I /resign-ed when my side wiped at the Warrior boss and saw 10 groups of afflicted left. Thought it said 10 tree singers left. Thankfully my friend didn't just blindly /resign after me. :P Yay and thank you all again. <3 arsie
I had went with a PuG and halfway through the initial part, he said that we've just lost Masters, because his team just wiped.
I flagged my MM to hold my end of the fort, and went over with my ele and monk hero, and managed to rez his team and kill the Luxons before any Treesingers died. I thought Masters was gone too, for a moment there. It kinda pays not to panic and hang in there, sometimes. bungusmaximus

Monk rezzed us and we went on on our merry ways and got masters nonetheless. Was good for some laughs and neverending praise to our monk. ellandra
/Agree, i rage resigned too when half the team died but realised we had all the tree singers and res'd and we were fine.

I did both missions last night in HM and I found them really simple.
In Gyala, we went the alternate way. I was necro (SS with enfeebling blood, reckles haste -for the miss chance-, Great Dwarven Weapon - which I was spamming on the tank (real person) in my group, together with the Great Dwarf Armor) and besides the tank warrior, we took dunkoro who was healer boon with 5 energy healing spells, healer + prot hench, olias hero with the SAB's MM build (jagged, death nova, horrors + aegis and prot.spirit) and the rest were nukers. The warrior pulled carefully and after we've killed all the groups, triggered the turtles we just did the canister thing and fought a bit. Same goes for Eternal Grove. I was ss and the other person was ss. We had dunkoro each + koss each + mm (same SAB build) each. It went so smooth cause the ss dealth ridicilous damage. What I found really helful were the EOTN items that I used (armor + essence + grail) - allowed us to spam ss so easily So, for the 1st mission - careful luring For the 2nd mission - that party setup I mentioned above hope it helps ah yes and..don't forget the juggernauts Fragile Feeling
I have been trying to succeed on this mission for a bit of time now, My teams have been fine for the first part with the luxons, but when the afflicted come, We are done. They seem to go right past all my minions and spike me and my heroes(I'm running discord). Does anyone have any tips on how to beat this, preferably without cons.

I did both these missions with 2 man discordway.
For gyala, we just did the normal way. We failed the back way twice lol, but that's because it just took so f long we got split up and wiped :x The mission should be easy enough. Just take your time, don't get flanked. You could even bond the turtles, but it's not necessary. For eternal grove, we just did a 4-4 split. There was no trouble except the warrior boss, which I wasn't prepared for. He KOed me in two hits, and wiped my side. Tree singer died before my partner could come and rez me. The second time around however, it was no problem at all. YMLAD meant he couldn't get to any of my heroes. Discord + barbs + death nova killed him fast. |
