Question about buying the game

If i want to buy the latest game will i have to buy all the other games first to be able to play the latest one? thanks for any information.

Nope. You can buy Prophecies, or Factions or Nightfall. Purchase of any one allows you to purchase Eye of the North.

The first three games; Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall; are all stand-alone games that are all played through the same basic game client. You can pick and choose which of these games you want to buy, although you do get benefits for buying more than one of these games (extra character slots, more vault storage space, extra profession choices, and the ability to transfer characters between campaigns for extra content).

The latest one, Eye of the North, is an expansion rather than a stand-alone game. So to be able to play Eye of the North, you will need at least one of the first three games.

And you will never have to pay any monthly fees to play Guild Wars. The only additional costs in Guild Wars are from the in-game store, which you are never under any pressure to use.

Prophecies is an older game, so it may not be listed on game store websites. You should try visiting game stores in person and seeing if they have it (I got my copy of Prophecies out of a game store bargain bin last year).

Back in the day before Factions, Prophecies was simply known as Guild Wars. It's the last one listed on the page.

Nightfall is the latest chapter.

I purchased prophecies fron the online store last week, so it is definately there.

If I recall, there is a platinum edition or some such shit coming out that is Prophecies + Eye of the North. As someone who owns all the games, that's what I would recommend. Factions and Nightfall are alright, but you could live without them. Prophecies and EotN are musts though, in my opinion.
