Asuran armor and the HoM
MSecorsky
Well, I did it. Reached level 5 with the Arusa and got not only my sunglasses but the rest of the Asuran armor (sans mask) for my mesmer (male). I like it... real nice looking armor, especially when dyed with a blue + purple mix. Very regal.
To the point... I went to the HoM to see if I could add it with the four pieces plus the sunglasses. Sure enough, I could! Strange side effect... it shows my character with the Asuran mask I never bought instead of the sunglasses. Even more odd... it's dyed to match the rest of the armor.
Anyone else try to add armor when you're only missing the mask... or are the sunglasses "close enough" but the display simply defaults to all the natural pieces of the set?

Yes, I bought the glasses for my female ranger and the full Asuran set. Instead the statue shows a stupid mask, covering up her whole face..
Kanna Banrai
They glasses aren't part of the Actual armor set. They are just added pieces. Like the Woad masks of the Norn armor. Its just there for looks.
Mordakai
according to wiki, this is not exclusive to Asuran, but all armors added will show that set's headpiece.

You do not need the headpiece to "register" the armor, but it will be displayed in the HoM.
Takuna
You only need the top, bottom, hand and foot pieces to display the whole set.
Also, the entire armour will dye itself to match the colour of the top your character is currently wearing.

Poor mesmers who didn't want to waste their money on the FoW gloves...

Just another annoying part of HOM.

A lot of mesmers didn't buy the FoW gloves since they were small and insignificant. You need the full set sans the helmet if you want to show the armor in your hall.

Basicly they started selling armor in unmatched sets. You could always mix up the armor if you wanted. That was part of the fun. Wait until you fing out that those million dollar gloves won't go in eithor. I can hear the crying now. They should let us put whatever we want.

How many Mesmers buy bottoms? Usually the top covers the bottoms up... (not sure about FoW armor)

I think the reason they didn't do that is they would have to make unique unlocks in GW2 for every piece of armor in the game.
Limiting it to complete sets of ascended armor makes sense from that view, even if it doesn't from an aesthetic view.

This is funny, I bought the vabbian for my necro minus the scar. Cause I really dont like it too much, the simple canthan works for me. But my statue doesn't have the scar on. wonder why?

Hmm, I wonder if it's a Vabbian bug or a Necro bug.
Do your other HoM armors include scars? Do other Vabbian HoM armors include headpieces?
