Combining armor sets - combos that work well?

I like mixing and matching armor sets on my characters. Get these pants and those gloves with that shirt, etc...

My results on trying this with a Mesmer have been, so far, dubious.

I put an Ascalon jacket on, and had Shing Jea pants. As a result, everytime she runs, you can see the waist of the pants poking through the Ascalon jacket - either the jacket is unusually thin at the waist, or the leggings are unusually thick at the same area.

Fortunately these were my '45' armor sets and not max stat sets, but now I've leveled out of those sets, and I'm looking at the various sets I can get at Consulate Docks, Kaineng, from a run to Droknar's, or GW:EN, and wondering - what combines well, and more importantly, what fails with clipping issues when you try to combine it?

I don't know about armor choices for female mesmers, but combining armor sets is amazingly easy for male mesmers. I have only found two pieces that have clipping issues for men - the sunspear jacket and elite sunspear jacket (they both have clipping issues with the trousers at the front around the beltline, although it doesn't look as bad if you combine those jackets with the trousers from the same sets).

I am possibly thinking of getting the 15k Primeval Jacket and mixing it with the 10k Ancient gloves, and the 15k Vabbian Boots for my Male Mesmer. I think that would look very nice.
