Hi there. I was recently minibanned due to a BUMP of my sale thread at just under 22 hours. This isn't a problem. I should have waited the extra few hours.
The problem is, my thread was edited with the usual:

A little request.

* Early bumping: You cannot post more than one time per 24 hour period in a thread you created for any reason whatsoever.
You can always click at the bottom of your posts to respond to posters, or you can contact them ingame or via PM. There is no need for you to make a new post to respond. It is not a daily bump, and you do not get to bump early because you will be gone tomorrow.
Because your thread has violated the guidelines, you have been temporarily banned and your thread is now closed. After your miniban has been served you may repost your thread following the rules linked in this post and at the top of each page in this forum.
Please read the General Ventari Guidelines to avoid any further violations. And the rest of my post was not included. It takes quite a bit of effort to write and keep threads with large amounts of items for sale up to date, and I hadn't had a chance to save the contents before my miniban took effect.
So I just wonder if it would be too much trouble to have mods either leave the content in the threads, or PM the original poster the code from the thread before the edit. If I have to serve a 3 day ban for posting two hours early, I don't think it would be too much of an inconvenience for the mod who edits my thread to PM me with the code.
Thanks.
Lasareth
Please keep in mind that there are a ton of threads that need to be closed for early bumps. Each mod has different views about what early bumping is, so it's best to stay on the late side of 24 hours to bump as you mentioned.
Now to the point, I think it would be a good idea for everyone to cut and paste their post (before submitting) into notebook and save it. I know I've lost a number of posts just to server timeouts alone, and in situations like that nobody can help you anyway. It's usually just a good idea to do that and honestly as silly as a 22 hour bump violation is, it's still a rule problem and the mods have no obligation to give any user any kind of special treatment in that type of situation.
I know it sounds mean but unfortunately our volunteers are just hard pressed for time to begin with and can't do this type of service to users who do not conform to the rules.
edit: Oops, neglected to address your other comment--"why can't the mods leave the content up." Though you probably already know the answer, it is a form of punishment for rulebreaking. An open sale with items and IGNs can still net you a sale, which we don't want if you're not going to play by the rules. This isn't to mean you specifically, because honestly 22 hour bumps aren't bad, but they are still violations and therefore fall into the "batch" moderation of the rest of the threads.

Yes, it would be too much trouble.
On a busy day I'll have to edit 30+ threads, 95% of those (if not more) will be bump violations. So you seriously expect me to PM every single one of those people?? not going to happen. Moderating Ventari's can take hours, I'm not going to create more work for myself.
As the old saying goes - "Cant do the time, don't do the crime"
Funny thing is, most bump violators are still logged into Guru when they should have bumped their post...work that out.
