Solution to greatly help in game trading without much effort by ANET

Can a trade outpost be added to the Battle Isles area. Standard NPC's like mat traders and stuff added of course.

This will help players have 1 place to converge to trade in game instead of the 5 or 6 they have now, and with at least some use of the party menu may give the game a primal form of centralized trade at least.

I know I for one am annoying when I want to trade I have to hit LA, AC, Elona, KC, and now EotN. One place where everyone can access regardless of chapter owned and that is trade based would do wonders for the game, and I am sure this can be added with very little effort since it will be for function not looks, and basically be setting up a generic outpost.

Good idea, we can call it Lag City. Or the Isle of rubberbanding. Or even Cape err=007.

Good idea, but it has one problem:

How do you propose encouraging people to use it as a trading location, instead of the current ones ?

The current ones became the main trading towns because they are at a choke point between chapters, meaning more people pass through over a given time interval, apart from the ones in GW:EN which may or may not remain as trading hubs.

Only allow trade chat in this 'trade island' and block it all other areas. they already have the wts and wtb filters which shove it in Trade even if you write it in public. A similar filter. Maybe all things with the words wtb, ,wts, buy or sell could be redirected to the island or something.

Easy. You encourage people going there when they know that most people go there.

After some time, they will just always go there.

You can always also remove trade form other districts.

People won't go there if there's nobody there. There's nobody there because people won't go. The cycle won't break until there are people stupid enough to go there and be afk for long periods of time, and then the cycle will repeat at low points of the day when not a lot of people are playing.

It's a good idea, but I remember Diablo 2 trade chat rooms. There were a lot of 'districts' but everybody wanted to get to trade room 1, because that's where everybody was. In the end, nobody was ever able to get there, and one usually had to compromise and take a room half full of people and try to trade there.

I'd say the system could be even easier than that. Open yourself to trade chat, which would be a global system. Behind the curtains, Anet would only make x number of people available to hear your trade calls, and those x number of people could make themselves heard to you (so you don't get text scrolling so fast, you can never know who said what). It'd behave a lot like chat rooms, except the number of people you can talk to is arbitrary and not necessarily the same group of people another person can talk to (though the set would include you if you hear from them). Then the trade chat can be closed just as easily as hitting the filter trade chat checkbox.

yea um /signed first and second why in gods name would you suppress trade everywhere else thats a bad idea, just make it to where there is another tab in party search and when you post a trade in the trade town *zaishen bazaar is the name i vote for* then its put into that new tab in the party search and its global, that would make people want to sell there.

and if you wanted to buy you would search that tab you find something you want you could hit join and it would take you to that player, that would be the easiest but i think it would be cooler if you could pm the guys then if you hit trade in that window it would open the trade box where ever you are so then you wouldn't have to go to lag town to buy, but you would go there to sell. also it would be cool if it had a search function so that you could seach for a specific item out of the list. and a sorting system would be nice, just a simple one like they have for quests, just axes, swords, hammers, w/e and when a player posts a trade in there he has to choose the category.

it would be the closest thing to an auction house you could get easily..... i take that back it would be much better than an auction house because its global, the only thing that anet would need to add after that are item links *boy imma get yelled at for this* like they have in WoW, then trade would be so much easier in gw cause the party searches would look like this:
WTS [Cool wep] 10k, you can check out the stats and maybe if you ctrl clicked it you could try it on *here i go again* like in wow.

taht would make the trade system in GW much more efficient, and would impead scammers due to the fact that you can go check the average price of an item in the party search.

I would not surpress trade anywhere. But who would use a chapter specific place to trade when now you have a place to trade with all three chapters. It is just a matter of common sense to trade here as you can trade with the most people.

Zaishen whatever is a good name, and the party search thing may see real for trade if most people are in one area.

Just taking the little time it would to create this area would go a long way. Sadly odds are this will get buried and we are back to no trading really in the game due to how scattered people are. I mean you have to jump everywhere to try to find certain things and in most of the old trading hubs there are few people now

You mean like how people do all their trading in the Great Temple of Balthazar instead of the chapter specific towns. Oh wait, they don't unless they have agreed to the trade elsewhere (like guru auctions).
People won't go to your town for trading until it gets a decent sized population. But to get a decent population, you need to get the traders to move there in the first place.

See this is a reasonable option though, the others would require too much programming. Renaming the great temple would be an option as well. And even less programming.

Yes its not much work. But the problem is that it won't actually do anything.
