Halloween in GWEN?
Dryndalyn
Halloween is coming and last year, the Nightfall copies I ordered arrived at the store near me arrived a day too late and I missed getting the witches hat, so I am hoping to get a witches hat this year.
In addition to the witches hat and based on previously observed marketing strategies seen from Anet, I wouldn’t be surprised if some central town in GWEN doesn’t also celebrate the Halloween festival adding its own festival hat, such as devil horns or black cat ears or the like.
Therefore, even though I still have lots to do in the rest of the world yet, I may venture on into GWEN (since I have it installed on each account already) to situate a character from each account in said central town so that they are prepared for the Halloween event. I don’t want to miss out like I did last year.
What I wish to know is what this town would be called and how long it would take to get there.

Considering you need another campaign to access EotN, it will probably be the same as last year - Lions Arch and Kamadan, with Kaineng getting Canthan New year later on, with nothing spilling into EotN towns.

Is it even confirmed that there's going to be a Halloween event? I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, which is why I ask.

They usually don't announce them until much closer to the time. The Dragon Festival for example was only announced a week before it actually started, no one knew if there were going to bother doing it again. But Halloween is a yearly event, they've done it for the past two years, so I don't see why they wouldn't this year.

Ah, I see. Well I hope they do have one (seeing how they are currently "busy with GW2"). If they have one, I wonder if it'll be a copy of last year's. Just have to wait and see I suppose.

Well, I was just looking at this map and can see that ‘Eye of the North’ is the biggest of the towns shown here on the GWEN map, but it looks a ways up there.
While there may or may not be a Halloween festival held there, it would be best to be safe and get a character there from each of my accounts just in case.
If anyone has been there to the town called ‘Eye of the North,’ could you please offer a guesstimate on the hours it would take to reach it from the other campaigns?
I really have a lot of other mainland quests to do still as well as work on my survivors, and would like to put off travel there for a while. However, I’d still like to get there before the 31st just in case.

If you're at LA, takes 1 hour or less depending on how slow you walk really. Need to be level 20 though

I see the OP has Nightfall, which is great because it's easiest from Kamadan - since you can only have a 4-man party, the enemies in the mini-dungeon are really easy. Takes me about 5 minutes to get from Kamadan->Boreal Station, then maybe 15 minutes to walk up to EotN.
Unfortunately, though, EotN is no longer a "city" - it only has the icon of an outpost. The three cities are Gunnar's Hold (Norn, about 20 minutes from EotN), Doomlore Shrine (Charr, an hour or so from Gunnar's Hold), and Rata Sum (Asura, I'd guess 1.5 hours from Gunnar's). Since all other events take place in cities (LA, Kamadan, Shing Jea) I think it much more likely that *if* Anet decides to expand the holiday event to EotN, it would be to one of those, probably Gunnar's because it's the easiest to get to.

Hey. It would be a serious mistake. I bet Charr love Halloween.

Yeah, i bet anet will find something creative this year, since its not the same week as a new game.

Charr Homelands+Ascalon, Shiverpeaks, Kryta+Maguuma+Tarnished Coast, CrystalDesert+Desolation, Vabbi, Kourna and Istan are all in the same continent: Tyria.
So Kamadan and Ascalon are in the same region.
Since GW:EN is not the same 'campaing'... ding. We have it. All of them deserve Halloween.
Cantha has Lunar New Year and Dragon festival, so it can be left out (with the exception of gaming arenas and worldwide drop traders, if any, of course).

Ha! I got 8 stacks of Orr Emblems in my storage waiting for the holidays! muahahah, and all that.
I'm not really sure how I feel about having it in three (or more for that matter) cities throughout the game.
On one hand, it would be neat to have such a widespread celebration. And of course, keeping in mind that they have different styles of decorations for cities, it would be neat to see what a Norn, Asuran, or even an Ascalonian Halloween celebration would look like.
However, It would seem like a bit of an effort to have to travel to three different cities in one day to get the different hats and celebrate with King Thorn. Especially since my time on Halloween will be limited, what with class that evening and having to dress up as death to scare the neighborhood children.
And think of the poor Mad King. His arms would be so tired.
Also, if they do hold it in an EotN city, I hope that they will give plenty of warning for us casual players that need a few days to finish quests and get where we need to go.

Why did EotN get downgraded to outpost anyway? It's got more stuff than Doomlore and is the base of the Ebon Vanguard. Oh well I hope theres Halloween somewhere in GWEN, or vekk will be sad...

The Mad King is coming!
Halloween is without a doubt the best festival. It's not a holiday I celebrate in real life, but I really love it in the game. I love the decorations and all for Wintersday, but it justdoesn't build the same kind of excitement as the Halloween festival does.

I bet it will be in EotN outpost. Gunnar's Hold maybe, because Anet knows thats easy to get to. Rata Sum...a little too far (not for me).

they did the event in LA but if you own the campaign it actually takes longer to get to Lions Arch than Rata Sum.
All I know is there better be something for EoTN. Or else it will just be a copy of last year and thats no way to welcome EoTN. T_T

You know what would be really great? To have a special Norn holiday 1 weekend, a special Charr hol another and (you guessed it) a special Asura hol on yet another date. Would be much better than just 'extending' halloween. Plus it would save Anet having to repeat the 'special' weekends so often.
And before the 'not fair to those that don't own A,B,C' group start up. I own all 3 campaigns plus EotN, damn right I deserve content that those with only 1 campaign don't. They get special content for their purchase and I get special content for each of mine. Come on Anet, start rewarding those who support you financially by owning everything you create for GW (on multiple accounts, plus many character slots )

Haha fun times, standing around the mad king and reading local chat is great!

The mad king is so hilarious!! ...or something.... but seriously - Halloween is probly my fav holiday weekend for GW and they've done it for the past 2 years so I see no reason they wouldn't do it this year. Here's to hoping!!
So -- my question to you all -- what hat(s) would you like to see this year?
We have: pumpkin heads and witches hats
ideas: Black Cat Ears, Wizards hat (similair to witches hat but different), Bare skull (my fav), etc

We have a winna! Yeah, a skull mask would rule the world.
Corth
I really like the idea of a skull mask, that would kick ass! We'd see so many people walking around with them. And the black cat ears now that I think about it.
I'd really like it if they made the festival hats something like the crown, with the +1 to whichever attrib. I would love to have that wizard hat on all the time
