GW 2 Mounts
kawaiikitsune
I was playing in GWEN today and noticed the armoured saurus the charr use for attacking with and I got to thinking. Could we be getting mounts in GW 2?
Now before you go off cussing me out and saying "we should have them cus..." and "Yeah right, like were gna have them." Please hear me out.
I was looking through the interview with the ANET guys and found that GW2 will be made a little more like WoW (people will be able to meet other people in explorable areas and the world will be a sandbox setting). So im wondering if this could possibly mean we'll get mounts, and if so I'm wondering if the Armoured Saurus is hinting at that. It may seem like a farout idea, but it could be a hint at it (spoiler: just like the sylvari viewing at the end of GW:EN)
What do you guys think? Could this little theory be a possiblity? And if so what kinda mounts do you think the other races would have? (Asura, Norn, Human, Sylvari, Charr)

The last thing ANet wants to hear is its customers saying "this is like WoW".

If we do get mounts we better have access to them starting at a low level..
One of the reasons I stopped playing WoW is because getting from place to place took way too long until you got a mount at like, level 40 (I think..).

Personally, I don't care if they do or don't.

Anything about GW2 is basically blind, pointless speculation at this point. Hell, I don't even really trust what the devs are saying about it considering how long they'll have to make changes to the underlying structure of the thing. There's no sense worrying about it, and anyway we've got a pretty awesome GW game to play right now.

Said yet again WOW did not start the mounts you could get mounts in other MMOs that came out before WOW ie DAoC had mounts that you owned (won in a special events) and could rent. Now they might have started the thing where your mounts were something other than a hourse. That I don't know. I too would like to have mounts or atleast get to ride my oversized pet into battle.

Map Travel over Mounts
Trueblade
Map travel definitely rocks. I hope they keep it. Saves a lot of time for me, which is valuable since my baby daughter likes to cut into it so much, LOL.
I do, however, love the idea of having mounts for combat. I also think that it would be cool to have them for faster travel even if they keep map travel. A lot of people probably enjoy the RPG factor of traveling from town to town "on foot". At any rate, I vote yes for mounts in GW2, and for the "we have to be different than WoW", make them different
...and remember, the biggest difference is that:
no monthly fee > monthly fee

The only reason GW2 will need mounts is if it's much more open-ended, and that would actually be pretty kickass. But if they're going to do that, a Fable-esque port back would be greatly appreciated, at least...

Really, all these GW2 threads make me lol. GWEN was supposed to keep people's minds occupied and not drifting to the future... but instead of playing, people are making threads about mounts in a game that's well known for map travel.

Seriously, what is the point worrying about GW2...?
Who even knows if it will happen yet?
NCsoft might sell up..to EA (failure)
Too many things can happen between now and w/e..

Map travel = Win
Mounts = Lose.
Increased run speed for travel inside an instance. Don't have it, too bad, shut up.
