so what you guys do when you fail on getting a one-shot title, Survivor?
Dark Paladin X
Grade on the survivor title: F--
If you scroll down a little bit, I failed on my survivor title (more details below) on my ranger. I mean, there are several people here that failed on getting the one-shot chance survivor and such. Here, we discuss times where we failed on achieving the survivor title, how you failed it, and what do you do?
I'm might be planning to go for the skill hunter or have the ranger shoot an arrow on himself (in other words, RESTART).
Hey, I try not to get mad here.

I died on my ritualist having earned about 1.15m XP. I rage deleted him.
The thing I'm most upset about is not getting all the free chests from Nightfall!

The survivor title is really hard, I might not delete my ranger because I spend 35k+ on that guy, I could just sell all of my scrolls and crap and go for skill hunter (a.k.a. mudkipz), although skill hunter takes longer IMHO.

When that happens, I roll my face in the keyboard in frustration!

I failed survivor on my ranger so yeah, I went the way of Dark Paladin and just got him skill hunter to look leet.

I kill any new character at least once immediately so that I don't ever have to see those words or that title on my account.

Survivor isn't fun to get, thus I don't do it, 'nuff said.
Kook~NBK~
I failed at it once, fortunately in the early stages (a bonehead move will do that) - rerolled the character and went to town. Use LOTS of preparation, trepidation, and concentration (plus a good bit of perspiration and paranoia) to get it back.
Dark Paladin X
This is often the results of those who go for survivor
*And the pic shown here is Dawn from the hit reality TV series Pokemon. I don't watch the show myself, but my younger cousin is a fan of it. I'm 18 years old and I outgrown it, although I do intentionally make funny articles on pokemon on uncyclopedia. I'm just want to convert my anger to humor.*

Here are the attempts I remember. There may have been more, but these are the most important.
1st attempt: Necromancer. Disconnected outside of the harbor in Factions. Logged back in, and had a death. Deleted.
2nd attempt: Necromancer. Made it to survivor. Died in Arborstone mission, final part. This was before Nightfall, so no heroes. Deleted.
3rd attempt: Ranger. Made it to survivor. Died en route to solo Galrath. (I've done it before, but I underestimated a skeleton mob.) Deleted.
4th attempt: Monk. Made it to Indomitable Survivor. Made it to rank 2 before the release of NF and heroes. 9 months old. Died when attempting to farm vermin in hard mode. Deleted.
Accidental attempt: Assassin. Originally intended to be a farmer and PvPer. Accidentally made it to Survivor. Deleted for just that reason.
*The accidental attempt came while my monk was still eligible for survivor 3. I have made no further attempts to create a survivor character for the time being.

go through the campaigns with a bonder hero and you will not die
HawkofStorms
Eh, I still lag hard core every now and then (1 frame every 15 seconds). It'd be impossible to even try for survivor for me.

Screw Survivor titles. It's Diablo 2 Hardcore all over again. Waste of effort and nerves. Woohoo, you're a Legendary Survivor! So f***ing what? While you were agonizing and carefully farming XP I was having fun and dying every now and then. You want to punish yourself by going for that title because you've got to prove your e-peen is bigger, knock yourself out, have a blast, more power to you. Turns a game into an ordeal.

After getting legendary on my Warrior I told myself I'd never bother with that title again. Now I find myself trying to avoid dying on my new Ranger. >.>
Dying while going for the title basically leaves you with two choices...just keep going and forget the title. OR...start all over again. :/ Not always an easy choice.

A /seppuku command would be nice; it would relive my urge of abdomen peircing that I get from my...3 failed rits, 1 failed dervish, 1 failed assassin and 1 failed ranger.
soul of seraphs
I have a sin (not my main) that lost is survivor title at 532,462 exp. needless to say i was moderatly disgruntled.

First attempt (Rit) died around 900k, while doing the Iron Caves bonus with hench team. This was in the days before flags and heroes were introduced. While carrying a keg of dynamite, I targeted the nearest Mursaat for Thom to beat on..and found myself running in ahead of him instead. Uninfused armor ftl. Second attempt was with my mesmer, who did succeed in reaching LS.
Aethon
You have died 1 time.
Me: "Come. Let us prepare for my next reroll."
Vekk: "Why? What are we going to do next reroll?"
Me: "The same thing we do every reroll - try and reach Legendary Survivor!"
In all seriousness, I got LS once, on a Ritualist. In the process I did lots and lots of quests, raking in a small fortune. But it was a triple XP'd Nornbear that finally let me get it. A small piece of me died that weekend; I started as a Slayer of Imps and ended as a Slayer of Nightmares. Honestly, though, my thought process isn't far off the dialog I wrote; I'm very persistent.

I was going for survivor on a rit a long time ago, did one of the holiday quests with him, figured it would be easy and it gave a lot of exp, even took some henchman with me just in case, and lvl 20 somethings wiped me. Haven't gone for it since, haven't remade a rit since either.
As for the guy relating it to Diablo 2 hard core, I always make my characters hard core in Diablo. Mostly because I know that I can hack the character and bring him back to life, and also because I just like to play through the first chapter and delete him anyways when I get to act 2.

Zahr Dalsk
Instead of trying for survivor, I try to get lots of deaths and then show off my deaths count to random people.
Kashrlyyk
As a person with a perfectionist streak I HAVE to have at least survivor rank1. Which reduces the fun of the game quite a bit, and therefore ,for me at least, it means the introduction of survivor title was a bad thing.
Hiotoko
I've only gone for the title once and was successful at it, and have no intention of going for it again for now, but I didn't think it was too hard to get, it just takes planning and preparation(meaning no PUGs). I'd just reroll if I decided to go for it again and failed.
Aramaki
Survivor title on Nightfall characters is easy(no PUGs), but with Factions its omigosh@#$%*! My Assassin died when doing those skill quests from Instructor Ng(yeah I suck), two NPCs gang up my soft Ninjia-wannabe. Left a bitter feeling, maybe with restart again more careful this time.
October Jade
Survival is difficult and frustrating. It is not impossible.
Assuming this ranger reaches tier three, it will be my fifth LS character. The Survivor title is not a task to be undertaken on a whim; you will most certainly fail numerous times before succeeding. I myself have accumulated between three and four hundred hours' worth of deleted progress due to death. It's not at all fun, I know. However, you must make a decision. Either keep rerolling until you get it right, or spend the remainder of that character's existence staring at the 'H' menu in disgust.
btw...hero/hench + responsible, patient gameplay = win.
Stormlord Alex
I... uhmm... unwittingly got to round about 500, 000 exp on my sin before he died.
Didn't care 'cause I weren't going for survivor

i retry if i fail a oneshot title i'm after ^^
did that a couple times on sin, and trust me you do learn of your mistakes.
but if i'm not after the title i won't delete if i fail to survive.

It does make you a far better player than usual going for the title. Even failing numerous times will have you learning from your mistakes.

I just stare the "You have died 1 time" message and say few bad word for few mins. Then i think "F**k it" and continue playing.

Well, my monk I got to survivor, then as I forgot to go to pogahn passage after rescuing Koss, so I died getting there
Next person who could have died in jokanur diggings, and the latest, my mesmer died doing insignia quests.
A relief in a way as I don't have to worry about her dying etc anymore

Every time I fail to get Survivor, I just laugh it off and think of a different title to work on. I don't mind the occasional failure; one who cannot appreciate failure cannot appreciate victory

I had a disconnect death on a para at 1.2mil xp. in about march/april. Only recently started playing her again. Glad I didnt delete here.

Ooh, let's see now...
Warrior, created pre-NF and was two-fold purpose: 1) Survivor 2) Farm monies for the Dervish's FoW, keeping in mind I had no idea what the class would play like, or what the armor looked like. She died around the 800k mark. I died to a disconnect and when I came back I just went ".... Dayum!" then ran out the portal to carry on farming. Char still exists and is one of my favourites.
Necromancer, created a few days before the most recent double XP on cap weekends. Was just shy of 1 mil and died to Jade Brotherhood ele spike (ow). That one stung a bit, but again was a dust off and carry on playing. She had about 60 or so elites capped so now runs crack builds in PvE and alliance battles (Soul reaping dagger maniac in PvE and a Chantamancer spear thrower in PvP, much to the sighs of my team-mates )
In between the two failed attempts I've got 3 successful LS's and am working on a 4th ^_^
I also had a mesmer who I only wanted to get to level 2, really didn't want to get her further so I just stripped her, aggro'd stuff outside SJM and then went afk for a while.
But yeah, I've never made a char for the sole purpose of LS, so I carry on playin' em.

I've learned a few things from my numerous failures.
1. Overconfidence breeds carelessness.
2. I'm insane.
3. If you need the toilet, map to an outpost. If you can't do that wet yourself.
This is going to sound really stupid but I had a dream I was playing Guild Wars and my character died. Come the morning I wasn't sure if was a dream or not.
Turned out it was a premonition because a few days later the inevitable happened.

I pvp'ed like woah with my first pve character. When titles were introduced, she never even had a chance.
Since then, I've managed to get an ele to tier one before dying while afk. That kinda chafed me a bit but I got over it. Second attempt died yesterday to some Moss Spiders while disconnected.
I think I'm going to take the stance of just working on my main character who never was allowed to get Survivor with the hope that maybe I'll get some other things that most players can't accomplish.
