Black Moa Collector Drops

Has anyone noticed that the Bog Skale Fins and Skree Wings have suddenly become an ultra rare drop? I cleared Stingray Strand at least 3 times and received one Fin, but tons of feathered scalpes (both used to drop at about the same rate). I have killed many many skree and the wings just arent dropping. I see people shouting out in towns that they are willing to pay well for these items too.
I guess what really bothers me about this is that it seems kind of shady for anet to do it. If they want to keep people playing by making them grind away for certain items that used to be easy to get, its just wrong.
If people are going to continue to play, it should be because the game is fun, not because they have to grind away.
It kinda makes me worried that the same kind of thing will be going on in GW2 too.

That is because of the new green mini, black moa. The purpose of green is "hard to get."

i solo'd for the fins outside of gates of kryta, got 4 the first trip, and 3 the second... this is an old farming spot for me, and that's about in line with what i've always gotten there.

for the skree wings i went SE from tihalk orchard, can't solo here so the drops will be spread out - but there is a huge mass of skree on the side of a hill fighting some hackets.. but even with a full team there's so many there i was able to get my wings in 3 trips.

I got 15 of bog skale fins in 2 trips just North of Lion's Arch.

Three members of my guild went out and farmed wings and fins for three moas in about 2 hours, so I don't think it's a matter of nerfed drops. But you've got to remember that these items are affected by loot-scaling, so going solo isn't going to help you all that much.

Took me about 4 hours to farm 5 skree wings, doing the 4 groups just outside Wehhan Terraces again and again. The skale fins took 2 trips to Tears of the Fallen, about 25 minutes.

I had 5 fins before getting half way through the North Kryta Province Skales solo. And made a solo build for skree wings, they were quite a bit more difficult to get.

I have noticed this as well, at least as far as the skree wings are concerned. When I was first getting the skale fins, I was able to get all the ones I needed in two trips.

And yet today, a friend and I went out south of the Kodash/Orchard area in the Forum Highlands, and we basically vanquished the area of any skree we could find. Between us, we got one wing. Before that, when I was actually trying to collect them for my mini moa, I took several parties out all over Vabbi to areas with large Skree poulations. Not a single wing drop. After a while I gave up and bought all of the ones I needed becuase I have more money than patience.

I haven't noticed because I got my Skree Wings from a guildmate over a week ago.

I got skree wings for the collector when Nightfall first came out. I don't remember them being so hard to get. Maybe they did lower them.
Maybe they should change what those collectors are asking for then?
If it takes hours to collect enough wings for 1 collector, whose going to bother.

I found that Stingray Sand was kind of stingy on Scale Fin drops, I'd recommend another spot.

I've found if you have Eye of the North installed, the number of skales in both North Kyrta Province and Stingray Stand have been lowered substantially, and they have become totally stingy. It's nice when running people around the map, not so nice for trying to get drops.

As for the Skree wings, my team of 6 real players, no heroes/no henchies managed to collect 30 skree wings in 3 hours outside Tihark Orchard. Me by myself with heroes and henchies took over 2 hours to get 5.

On the plus side, I got lots of crap golds and crap purples from the chests in that area.

I must of killed 100 harpies so and not got a single wing, so i gave up and bought them^^

You guys all must be cursed....

I got 6 or so bog scales in one run, 2 from 1 group of 4 even. Those arent too difficult...

Same goes for skree wings although I have not tried to get those again since I needed for my moa.

scales were a pain...cleaned out a few areas, finally soloed north of LA and got 6. Wings I still had in storage (pack rat ya'know) so I had no problems with them (still have a bunch too )

me thinks that all the people out looking for them has made them more scarce. I was having problems even FINDING bogs to kill---after the fissure opened up lots of the ones north of LA were just not there any more, was kinda weird, found tons of ettins (where were they when I was hunting them??) and mergoyles, but the bogs seemed to have been out to lunch.

well finally got everything I needed....but yeah it was a bit more difficult than it should have been to get these really common things.

Took me about 9 runs outside Wehan Terraces, considering a run takes about 3 or 4 mins with 3 heros that wasn't too bad i guess. I got 1 wing in the first run, then another 2 im the fourth... Ended up with like 4 more in the final run so it's just about luck as per usual. Sold the remainder for 1k each :P

Scales were straight forward enough.. Traveled north from Fishermans haven into 'Tears' and got 5 in 2 runs.
