directx difficulty

Hey there. Im having a few problems with directx and am not sure really what to do.

I can usually get GW to run well for a while, but after some time it eventually lags up, to the point where the framerate actually freezes completely. When I shut GW down and restart it, a message pops up telling me that my directx 8 is not valid, even though I have directx 9. Can anyone help with this?

Sounds like you need to reinstall directX (not that hard to do) go to this page Microsoft DirectX to get the latest version and follow the install instructions on the site. If this doesn't fix it run the DirectX diag, type "dxdiag" in the run command and post any errors that turn up here along with your computers stats and we'll be able to help more.

EDIT: Another thing check you aren't running guild wars in DirectX 8 mode, just look at the shortcut.
