Also, I find that with groups of 5 you can start attacking straight away after a visage with no problems.. at least I could anyway.
And yes, groups of 3 are very tricky with energy management... generally I rely on just Whirlwind Attack until I have plenty of energy to work with.

can anyone make me a sugestion on alternetive skills for the factions skills used in the build? i was thinking that since i'm gonna loose attack power using the dolyak sig replacing the tripple chop and using arcane thievery for the visage that i can't have! i'm open to sugestions since i can't really farm that much with my ele on uw! eotn norn or whatever skills could be usefull! and sword version is out of my plans. i still don't have the skills and i still don't have any good sword.

Hey, PAIN, i have followed your build exactly to the "T" with axe and it works perfectly. Everytime, unless i F** up, hehe, anyone having problems with it just needs to practice more. It does take time. You need to learn the coldfire patrol routes e.t.c and remember them. Eventually you will figure out your own smite farm route wich works best and safest for you.
Biggest problem is that it is very unprofitable. I did 5 runs in a row last night and didnt get a single Ecto! And ive just done 3 more with none. Thats 8 duff runs. And as for mass kill = lower drops, well thats poo! Ive tried both ways many times and it makes no difference.
But WHERE R ALL THE ECTO??????

Ive just done another 5 runs and guess what......NO ECTO! The build works great but to be honest, im really bored of doing it now and without ecto's its pointless.

Yup, it certainly seems nefed but not in a way that you cant do it anymore. It seems that if you go in there as a solo warrior it screems "dont drop ecto's!!!!!!!!!!"

i feel your pain, i did over 50 uw runs with no ecto's when i tried this build. on the bright side, i did it like 2 weeks ago, and got 1 ecto.. just 1 run.. 1 ecto..

Okay, well, i think it may well have been nerfed after all. For the last 2 days every now and then a group of coldfires will just stop patroling and stand still blocking the way. Only thing you can do is agro them and hope you get away, then they start patroling again. But its rare to escape. I dont know if this is a new thing as im new to UW farming but it didnt happen once for the last 2 weeks. Also, another 5 runs with no Ecto's. Thats 18k on runs with nothing and not even covering entrance either. End of days for me i think :O((

I would just take a long/flatbow and fire an arrow at the coldfires if they become stuck. Start moving the opposite direction of your arrow as soon as it leaves your bow, and you'll break aggro easily.

i'm having problems with the graspings at the start, i keep dying, so i rechecked the video and saw they deal 0 dmg to you, and to me they deal 14 dmg. so if anyone know how to do it without dying please tell me

Because each rank add 1-2 points dmg more, it doesn't matter much. You can easily get rank 6 if you have non NF character, so this will be ok.

Well, i eat my words. Ovr this weekend the drops have been SUPERB!!! Im getting 2 or 3 Ecto's per run, plus keys plus passage scrolls and golds. Im also covering my entrance easily and there are chests everywhere!
To be honest sooo many peeps have been moning about the poor drops it wouldnt surprise me if ANET hase made a few adjustments.
As for the peeps who still cant do it, simply follow ALL of PAINS instructions on the first page of this thread and then all you need is practice and patience.

A little late bumpage 
but well worth it just to say that it is still working like a charm down in the underworld.
I still cant beat that 9 minute run
but i will continue to try and the drops are fantastic, specialy over the last couple of weeks? has everyone stopped farming this

This build is great i made 7 ectos in 45 mins i think i was lucky 4 ectos in 1 run :P

Yup, still works like a charm. I get about 2 globs per run in average but take slightly longer as the drops are better when you kill smaller groups and, of course, when there's fewer people farming in the region.

O.o, maybe I should start from Zin Ku or the one in NF instead hehe(if it's not the Underworld itself that's screwing it up) anyway, this seems like a nice build, but since I don't have the right insignas/weapons I usually die at the grasps hehe

Actually they're not "urban legends", on European servers the drop rates drop substantially in the evening and on weekends as far as common farming areas are concerned. It might not seem like much with items that have a generally small drop rate to begin with but the difference is more than obvious if you farm something more common. Good luck farming something on event days when the servers are full.

I'm farming UW solo all the time. Didn't notice any diffrence during the weekend. Obviously your claims make no sense. A monster has a fixed rate of droping certain items, for the sake of argument lets say smite has a 2% chance of dropping ecto, that's it. There is nothing more to it, why would they implement some ridiculous complicated mechanism?

you don't need healing if you use the build right. otherwise you should go W/Rt wich is alot more easy..

Yeah if you are dying you are not using the right equipment /setup because you should be taking a very small ammount of damage and should not need a healing skill although lions comfort was the healing skill of choice at some point, just replace an attack skill with that...

great build, gj on it. its nice to see that i'm finally getting ectos again. i think the only problem i'm having still is trying not to agrro those stupid coldfire patrols.
also, for all those ppl with bad luck out there, a-net should have it so that if you end up doing 40 failed runs and only get one ecto, you should get points toward your unlucky title track.
too bad they don't update the game anymore

It's not as much bad luck as it is chance. IF smite crawlers truly have a 2% drops rate, consider the chances of having EVERY smite drop ecto during a run. In theory you could get 30+ ecto in that run, but again, the odds are pretty astronomical XD.

i hit a new record for me the other day
8mins (i dont know what the record is but i like beating my own record) i had a chance at another 8min run but i caught coldfire aggro and still had a 9-10min run, ima fan of this build, too bad smites dont drop ectos like they used to.
