Will the price of onyx gemstones rise?
freakishly ugly god
they have just fixed the taxi to duncan's, do thing that the price or deld. remnats and onyx gemstones will rise?
placebo overdose
imo yes but no one can know for a fact it will drop eventually so if you want the weps buy now if you want to be cheap no that thats bad wait a month or two
freakishly ugly god
any more opinons?
GloryFox
No and why should they?
Fact is you can only use them for a weapon crafter for weapons you cannot transfer to GW2. Many people believe the skins are ugly. Most people including myself will look forward to a fresh start with GW2. So why ga ga over some crap skins when there are other nice skins out there?

Onyx? I don't know. I've been finding plenty of it without farming Duncan. I'd welcome a bit of a rise though, it'll be nice to have a drop that's worth something. Spare cash to support my lockpick habit is a welcome thing.
Remnants and hierophant items, they'll probably go up quite a bit, which will add a little thrill to finishing Slaver's for the people who haven't ran it to death yet.
Win-win situation.

Onyx won't rise; the demand is low enough that it won't have much impact.
wolfwing
Probably depend on what if anything having all the weapons will do for GW2...and if they post it, there must be a reason you can put them in the HOM, the question is other then the one weapon you want to keep is it worth doing it?
Stormcloud
price is already increasing so id say yea for a little bit but then drop again and level off like rubies.
wolfwing
Heh I wonder how badly the price will skyrocket if it turns out that they are needed for HOM to get big bonus like super cool weapon skins for GW2.
TechnoSword
lol i already saw someone spamming wts onyx gemstones 15k already, i'm sure anet will add some sort of content that will require gemstones, but it wont be for quite some time
trielementz
gw2 is ages away.. the skyrocketing will be quite some time away i reckon, if it even does.
wolfwing
Well depends on WHEN they announce what torment collction gives and IF they ever do. The longer they take and the lower the reward the less the impact will be.
wolfwing
Though to be honest..:> That be a great way of removing the surplus onyx's mentioning what the reward is and make it a big one.
Chthon
Well, it did. It's now more than double it's low point earlier today.
Ironically, all the people whining about people getting easily what they spent 10k on has caused a doubling in value of all the onyx held by those very people.

I think the price increase will be three things.
Those that like myself bought them while cheap in hopes of selling later at a bit higher price. *with 27, thats 27k for every k it goes up after 2k*
And those that want to get them while they are still cheap so they can craft them.
And the third ones are those that don't plan on using them now but want to grab them while cheap.

when i was out doing the vanguard missions, i got 5 superior char carvings and when i got to town i decided to trade them to the colector for a curse wand - since i didn't have a curse wepon to use when i decided to go that route....
got a wailing wand 11-22 dmg: haves recharge of curse skills (20%):+15e -1 e-regen...
not the best of wands, but usefull enough till i find something better.
when we got down there i noticed that i had all of the materials for a destroyer wepon already in storage, and i didn't think 5k is too much to craft an elite weapon -- untill i scrolled down to look at the curse wand, and it had the exact same stats as the collector wand i'm runing around with. -
WTF? when did anet forget how to reward people? the piss poor rewards from dungons is one thing, but expensive as hell crafted elite's that are the only ones allowed to be displayed in HoM; should be able to out class PoS collecters items without even trying.

um there're only so many ways you can permutate GW's weapon mods. it has always been about the skin and the vanity factor. could work for or against you. i don't care much abt these unique weapon skins, but the profits from trading them are huge and allow me to doll up my toons.
wolfwing
Collector wands have always been the same stats...this game is designed for PVP wich means the max weapon must be collectable for everyone. Maybe in GW2 this will change but not likly in this one.
Spazzer
I have severely underestimated the resourcefulness and taste of the community. Onyx is on the rise.
Gli
I like it. I will, as I've been doing all along, sell every piece of onyx I come across. It's the only use I have for it, because I don't fancy my characters running around with awkward chunks of heated rock for weapons.
HawkofStorms
It will rise as more and more people beat GW:EN/get it. Expect prices to peak 2-4 months post release like the rise in price in saphires and rubies as more "non-rushers" began to get to Vabbi in NF. Then, it will gradually drop to its stable price. Price spike may occur in 18-20 months when more news of specifics of GW2 comes around.

That is what I've been expecting, the prices will stay high as more people want the weapons, and when the demand starts to drop off, so will the prices. What I'm doing is selling all the gemstones and later on when the prices drop, see about crafting a couple for myself.
puffzilla
Don't think the prices will spike before GW2. I'm pretty sure they're not letting us take gold or items over so why would they. I can't see anyone try to fill up the HoM at the last minute.
The items don't look that elite either on the valor monument. They're kind of small. I've got my axe and shield up there and won't bother getting any others.

Most people who really want destroyer weps have them already... so the price will go down as demand goes down
Macro Economics 101:
Supply > demand = Low price
Supply < Demand = High price
Right now... Supply is rising (even without Duncan Donuts) so Demand will decrease over time.

I'd say no. You can get onyx in plenty of other dungeons, and all you use them for is destroyer weaps. Not that hard to get the twenty you need for a weapon set yourself, and then never care about them ever again. As for armour remnants, you do only have 10 heroes, so you have a pretty limited demand.

The point of HoM is to bring "stuff" over to GW2. It won't be weapons or money, but it will be something. There is a reason people pay money for vanity items like minis.
And I disagree Righteous Indignation. Many people I know who want destroyer weapons haven't gotten them yet. Like I said, the people who like to rush through the games have. The people who like to go it slow through all the quests or are more casual players won't have reached the crafter yet.

Anette will probably find another use of Onyx somewhere °°

Coming soon with the release of Hard Mode... Onyx Armor. You heard it here first.

I think they will rise a bit, but as has been said demand for destroyer weapons isnt huge...
