what dose stacking mean???? dose it mean that I get the benifites as many times as I use the item?? say I have 2 runes of Vitae on me dose that give me +20 health?? dose that still work if I also have a superior vigor??? can some one please explain and make it very simple. (also is a rune of vitae/attunement stacking it's not said in WIKI) If there is another forum I should refer to please point me to it.

That is exactly what stacking means. But anything that says non-stacking doesn't stack. That means there is no point of putting two of them on your armor.

Example:
Vitae runes stack, if you put two on, you get +20 health
Vigor and attribute runes do not, if you put two superior vigors on, you will only get +75 health. Also, with attribute runes, if you put two superior ones on, you won't get the bonus but you will still lose the health.

So can you use both vigor and vitae?

Yes you can use vigor and vitae at the same time. The benifits stack.

Just remember only ONE RUNE of any type per armor piece. Stacking does not mean on the same piece of armor.

Stacking refers to multiple uses of the same rune type worn at the same time. If you have multiple vigor runes(which are non-stacking) on you, only the one with the highest bonus will count. Vitae runes, however are stacking, so you will receive +10 health for each vitae you have on you. Vitae and vigors are not the same rune type, so you will get the bonuses from both.

And yes, both vitae and attunement runes are stacking. They will say so on the runes themselves.

Noob Stacking question (I am working on my very first character, going through Prophecies PvE.)

I’ve searched the forum and this thread seems to have the best information about stacking that I can find, but it doesn’t quite give me enough information. I have a specific scenario I’m trying to figure out in regards to stacking Damage Reduction effects.

I have the following three items:
Serrated Shield: Received physical damage -2 (while in a Stance)
Knight's Insignia: Received physical damage -3 {this is on my Chest}
Rune of Superior Absorption: Reduces physical damage by 3 (Non-stacking) {this is on my Boots}

I understand that the Shield and the Rune are Global while the Insignia is local to the Chest only. How do these 3 items interact?

Assuming I’m in a stance, if I get hit in the Chest how much Damage Reduction do I get? -3 or -5 or -8

Assuming I’m in a stance, if I get hit somewhere other then the Chest how much Damage Reduction do I get? -3 or -5

Stacking:
All stacking benefits + the highest non-stacking benefit.
So in your case, shield and knight is stacking, rune isn't: 2+3+3 = -8

If you're hit anywhere else, you'll get only the 2+3 reduction, however it's most common that if you use knight's, you use full knights. So you still get some form of reduction on other parts.

Cool – Thanks! I had hoped that it worked that way, but was unsure.

The shield and the Absorption rune are "global" - which means they cover the entire character and reduce all physical damage.
The Knight's Insignia only reduces damage on the area it's attached to.
