Hi, i've been having a problem with my whole computer shutting down after 5ish minutes and its really bugging me (i've tried a few games) and it usually beeps before the crash it just starts shutting down with no stop to it. had several virus scan got updates but nothing seems to work even de-fragging i have 256 graphics card 512 ram (60 gigs open space) so any help would be appreciated.

That sounds like your processor is overheating - check and make sure the fan on the cooling unit is running - blow any dust out of it - make sure the computer is in a place where it gets plenty of air circulation and, if necessary, take the cooling unit off and replace the thermal compound.

If that doesn't work it could also be your power supply unit going bad.

Might want to post more specs for more help.

agree with Monk, its almost certanly your cpu overheating....if not..i dunno maybe ram is going up and something running in the background is accessing the same bad address but in most cases you would get an error code. Something similar had happened to a friend is only reason i suggest.

Sometimes, having the case opened will only result in bad cooling. Good cases are meant to have a better airflow when they are closed. Your problem is definetely hardware realted. It's probably your PSU, but check for detached heatsinks while you are at it, it can't hurt.
