Scroll down in any catagory on this forum and you may come across a common theme, in regards to PVE.

Well i've had enough of it, the buck stops here Mr.(and Miss's)
Why does no one bring up Linas perfectly timed SoR that just hapened to bail u out as u come running back to ur flagged AI, after accidently going to deep to pull?

Why does no one ever bring up Zhos inhuman accuracy and Henchy superior timing?

Why am i yet to hear about Danika's...er..hmm...grr...rreat looking hair doo?

My dream is for this thread to be the place, where after a hard/long day PvE'ing WITH AI, you come, and express at least one tale of how WELL the henchy AI worked for you. In any specific case, a well timed interrupt, a well placed ward, perfectly timed KD from Devona, what ever.

No More Henchy Hate, they dont complain when u loose agro and send the squishies a large cleaver weilding gift of doom, or when u fail to spot the enemy monk with the funny name healing the enemy while u chop away at the ele whos spiking down ur team 1 by 1 wondering to ur self "wtf this is n invinci ele"!!! *breath, breath*

Love them.

PS, GWG mods is there anyway maybe next Saturday, the "GORED ENGINE" can be replaced by LOVE HENCHMEN, even if it s just for a day.

So for example, someone will have a bad day in with a PUG group and come here to vent, he'll be like WTF i HATE PUG groups this MotherLOVE HENCHMEN monk wouldnt do his job i LOVE HENCHMEN hate monks in this game!!

Danika's voice is my only henchman gripe to be honest. The henchies in GW are quite decent, especially the GWEN ones who have very nice bars.

Having completed just about every mission/bonus in Proph with 6 chars using just the hench (and the majority of missions, if not the bonuses, in Fact) back in the days before heroes and flags, I will join you in singing the praises of the hench.

They never complain, they never leave mid-mission and they never draw pensu on the map. The fabulous wealth they've accumlated while in my company is well deserved; the fact that they continue to make themselves available when they could easily retire comfortably shows that they love adventuring as much as I.

The people who complain about them don't seem to understand their strengths, preferring to dwell on their weaknesses. It's as if they expect them to behave like real players, which they are not. And many of the things they complain about, well, I've seen real people do those things and worse.

Oh. Henchmen appreciation thread. Well, henchy monks and interrupters always have a place in my party.

They're AI.

They don't care what we may have to say about them.

Generally that is why I just stick em in the party and think no more of it.
Whether the AI sucks or not.... the very fact that they will never take a toilet-break or stop to answer the phone mid-combat, let alone disconnect.... make them better than any PuG in most places.

You hear constant complaint about henchmen because, get this, they actually suck. Times when they do things right are vastly outnumbered by the times they do things terribly wrong, and certainly don't deserve much, if any, praise.

Heroes, of course, are a bit better, thanks to the customizability--and their ability to excel at running certain bars--but on the whole, the AI is still awful.

There's a reason for this, though--back during beta days, I recall a quote from Anet saying that they had to dumb down the henchmen, because they were actually far too good.

I did have the feeling that my favouritism will come and bite me in the bum at some point.

I must say that I have specifically brought Little Thom, Devona and Talon for their Charge!, gets the party from place to place quicker.

Thank you Lina, Mhenlo, Herta and Eve (Pretty much the only ones I use)

I was doing Abaddon's Mouth HM and accidentally over-aggroed at the end (IE destroying more than 1 seal at a time). Thought we were going to wipe but the henchies somehow pulled through and rezzed everyone and I finished it easily

Oh and thanks Hayda and Livia, me parties before were such sausage-fests, now they bring the much needed feminine touch to my parties

... That was the only reason I brought Talon and Devona with me in Factions.... ever. I can't go anywhere without a speed boost. Full party speed boost = WIN! GW:EN Talon / Devona = Fail.

Regarding the OP, I don't know which henchies you're using, but I'm sure this is the AI behind Devona.

Wow. This is becoming sooo....usuall. On every xx number of rant threads about something, there is a guy who opens anti-rant thread, with no actual arguments, just to be diffrent from majority of people who are complaining.
Henchmen suck. Heroes suck too, but less. But PUGs suck the most, so I'll have to stick with H&H in most situations.

Fantastic reflexes. I've never seen a human interupt like a henchie. But they sometimes pull little pranks. Several times I've parked the party in what seemed like a safe place while I went AFK for a couple minutes. I come back to find drops on the ground. None of the henchies will tell me what happened.

And then there is Little Thom. "This looks like a good place to fish." LOL

I <3 henchies, though I am annoyed that they stop what they're doing when I decide to move mid combat >.< Other than that, I usually prefer to use them instead of people, due to reliability :P

If you happen to use heroes, the 'target' button solves that, just lock them on a target and you can move around at will

Yeah thats why you should be creative, stuff like [skill]barbs[/skill] or [skill]splinter weapon[/skill] can turn all henchmen into blood-thirsty monsters

Outside topic: it only takes a non-combat spirit to make them go "Oh look at that!" and everyone joins staring the spirit.

Anyways i had a moment today against Rand Stormweaver's mob where Zhed basically said "screw this planning im pulling." and proceeded to do so. We had a 80% wipe but managed to resurrect everyone and won the mob. So, thanks for the healers doing amazing job while getting barraged and what not and no.. Zhed was alive all the time :P.

Henchmen and heroes are lovely, I wouldn't play the game without them, but right now they're bugged. Several of them ignore flags, ignore orders to "guard," and just go tearing off and aggroing things. All their other, normal faults are more than made up for IMO by thier inhuman level of timing and their general agreeableness, but they do need to go back to following orders.

Henchies are excellent, 5 stars!

Work with the henchies, protect them, support them, and all is well. Expect them to get you out of whatever trouble you manage to get yourself into and the healers will waste all their energy on you; and then the whole party is going down.

Thank you a.net for having henchmen. Without them and heros, this game would be a lot less bareable. Imagine having to deal with 14 year old pre-pubescint kids every single time you want to play the game. *shudder*

Eve and Herta are hot as far computer animation goes! Thier little quotes are sometimes amusing.

I dont have anything good to say about recent usefullness or function of them though, but hey they look good! To bad they dont have mini's!!!!

Every piece of content (ok ok lets not talk about DoA UW and other shenanigans :P) can be done with Heroes/Henchies they rock especially when you have a +2% morale boost and little thom/Devona going mental on everything on his/her path ^_^

Vekk has some issues though *shrugs*

For the rest, Henchies work quite well. Considering the challenge of good AI programming they do quite well actually.
