I'm assuming you have a good reason for disabling the vBulletin search system, and for this thread I don't care what it is. I also ask that other posters in this thread hold that assumption in mind when posting here.
I'm not asking for the restoration of that search system. However the boardtracker system sucks completely. For instance:
- Its "advanced" search seems no different to its regular search.
- Its slow, even when it turns up 0 results.
- It can't find anything. For instance I just did a search for "favor" and after a long wait it came back with zero results. In fact I can't find anything that will get it to return even one result.
Personally I feel that we will be better served with an access denied message (like we get when trying to view someone's posting history) than a search system that wastes our time to produce nothing useful.
So I'm asking the admins here to remove the useless boardtracker system and instead replace it with an access denied message.
And for those that want proof of my 0 results for favor:

Boardtracker is moderately better than general Google search with the Site:http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum, due to being made for forums. It's up because it's better than nothing, and it really is better than nothing. Even though moderators retain access to the vBulletin search for use in moderation duties, I still use boardtracker when possible, and it works occasionally. It's hit and miss, really.
Just for the record, vBulletin search queries the database and is very intensive in resource usage, and due to both the size of the community, and of the database itself, the forum goes from timing out sporadically, to timing out almost non-stop while enabled. What makes things worse is that when the site is getting a bit wonky, and the searches yield nothing but a white screen, everyone, including myself, tends to hit F5 to refresh, which increases the server load, and reduces the chance anyone will be able to load anything, ad infinitum.
Anyway, I can see in the screenshot that you did get results, 366 of them, but they seem to have failed to load.

If you're really netting 0 out of 0 search results, and this is not the case with your issue, check the url of the page you're on. It may say http://blahblahblahScope=0blahblahblah. If the scope paramater in the URL is set to 0, then you'll receive no search results. I'm not sure why it occasionally sets it to 0, but it's been a common complaint in the past.
Additionally, Board Tracker 2.0 was released recently, though in a beta format, and I've heard it's more than a bit buggy at the moment. I believe they mentioned the ability to see your own posts (thank goodness!) and more refined search settings.
Even if we aren't able to re-enable vBulletin with the eventual server upgrade, hopefully, the improved boardtracker features will be worth the wait.
Hope this helps.

I agree with the OP, BoardTracker is horrible. The old search system was better, because I could search through users posts/threads, which was VERY helpful because often I would know who posted something, just not where. BoardTracker is also VERY slow, and that stupid dog picture just makes me mad, rather than make me want to wait for the search...
Just go back to the old search thing, at least it worked consistently.

I thought it would be something like this based on other issues guru has that seem load related.
