Weapons and Armor
Duny
Well I have to say , I love this game, I don't play it much since I am deployed, but I have all chapters. The game is challenging enough and I would like to see it more challenging. One thing I would like to see is that weapons could deteriate unless you get it if fixed. It would be great to have blacksmith's in the game to fix weapons and armor.

not signet, i want not ever run to a f.ucking npc to repair all my shit that got useless by the time ..
thats a most annoying thing of gameplay you can give an rpg or rpg-like game.
not everything has to be 100% realistic to give a game a good gameplay that makles fun ...
repairing ever and ever again weapons and armors and paying for this shit is NO FUN

I just think it would be a good idea. But we all have our opinions.
But another idea would to allow one of your other characters to be a hero or allow them to tag along and play with you.

/notsigned, that would piss me off, i played wow and that ticked me off cause you cant get anything cause all of your money has to go to fixing your crap, and in the middle of a dungeon or something and your stuff breaks -.-

It's a freaking retarded old mechanic that has no place in a modern game.
Who the hell wants to go back to the blacksmith every 30 minutes to repair a weapon?
It's an unnecessary goldsink that is just an inconvenience and adds nothing to gameplay.

There are way more fun and interesting ways to put goldsinks in the game.

The only game that had a decent thing with deteoriating weapons was the original Baldur's Gate, it were part of the story and such.

You can have your armour break if you want, but not mine.

Who says anything about 30 minutes, lets be more realistic, a weapon don't go that fast. But hey i would love to make my game more challenging.
kazjun
How's this challenging? Everyone would just do like in Diablo2 and repair everything before leaving town. You'd have to be a total idiot to let your weapon or armour break. It just means that instead of just running to the merch and then storage, you run to the merch, blacksmith then storage. Just an unnecessary step.

This thread is a turnig in to a bashing session that just a request. So apprentaly nobody likes the freaking idea. How about we add machine guns to the scenerio.

Gave up a couple games for that sole reason alone, well maybe B/C GW is way cooler, just my 2 cents...

There are weapons that have lasted through the ages, armor as well. Pretty much the only broken weapons are those that are mishandled, and usually result in the death of their wielders.
A true hero that dies old and happy passes his armor and sword on to his children, and his childrens' children.
Besides, why have a sword break and not a magic wand? Does the wand just run out of magic? Or does the dumbass drop it on the ground?
/notsigned with realism as a basis, rather than greed, because we all know that people don't like this because they're cheap bastages and would skip realism of any sort if it doesn't give them some kind of benefit.

See these are real posts, from ones who can hold a conversation. I like good opinions, not those of rants and complaints and people who curse to prove a point.

Unnecesary gold sink. They already may break when salvaged.

I personally think ,this thread can be closed, before it escalates to a flame war... or bashing.
As the thread starter must see, when he/she's not blind - nobody likes this idea, because it won't make the gameplay better, this will only worsen it.
Repairing over and over again your stuff is one of the dumbest, uncreativest, most frustrating, brainless worsen-improvements of gold sinks, that any foolish developers could implement to their game...
This would make none player happy, would it implemented, this would only lead to the point, that thousands of players would for sure stop playing the game immediately !!! And this ist sure not the intention of any games developer to implement silly features, which will scare off their game's players
Believe me ...
PS: for the sake of this game, close this

It, as an idea, has no effect on gameplay other than to increase grind, which is what most of the player base are petitioning against.

I personally like the idea but I wouldn't allow the weapon to be repaired. I think it be interesting if there was small percentage of chance that a boss could break your weapon if say you were out of adrenaline at critical point of attack or out of energy while attempting to cast a spell you simply don't have the energy for.
It could be one in million kinda thing, that can only happen while facing a boss. There can even be a quest that revolves around repairing your weapon (& wand) if you break it. You can seek out a NPC in explorable area to repair your weapon via magic, not a blacksmith. Like remember the pre-searing quest where you had to baptize a horn for a Ascalon NPC.
I'm not suggesting that everyone's weapon should break so they can do the quest. I'm not suggesting it be a money sink as blacksmith. If we make it story-related it makes the Hall of Monument that much more meaningful, such as having the repaired weapon enshrined.
Perhaps this can be a GW2 idea.
