Just a quick question... ive got a new top of the line PC on the way, and I want to check im not likely to get any issues when it arrives.
Are there any known issues with the Nvidia 8800 GTX graphics card and/or vista and playing GWs?

Nope, works fine here with that combo.
Gemini Knight Juno
I use that combination myself, it makes for beautiful graphics and high framerates. However, I noticed it running slower than expected when in populated towns. With this sort of graphic power I should get framerates of at least 45-50 all of the time, even in towns. It usually drops to about 20 fps when rendering a cluster of people in town. Out in explorable areas expect no less than 50 fps with all settings maxed.
So far I have encountered no graphical glitches or errors related to this setup.
Overall I think you will be impressed and satisfied, I definitely don't regret the purchase.

I found that if you install GuildWars on a new machine using just the client without a DirectX-9 distribution, it just won't work.
This is on a machine with Vista 32-bit version and a GeForce8800GTS.
If you install with the game DVDs it may be fine.
Anyways, the fix is just to install DirectX-9 so the game has something to work with. I found the DirectX versions to not be backwards compatible in this way.
I look forward to seeing GW2 in DirectX-10.

windows -bit versions are always a little different from the regular versions of windows. Windows xp 64 bit, and now vista - bit, had issues when it came out working with games and other windows programs, expect issues and some technical issues to pop up with the bit versions of windows. Also if you are thinking of buying bit versions of windows for your computer consider this. These OS's are ment for high performance and very technical minded people, they are not recommended for the casual user with not much technical knowledge of os's. Just thought id throw that out.
