Hey guys,
I recently bought the platinum edition (Prophecies and EOTN) so I'm a noob but what does the EOTN expansion actually give you? Thanks

If you've just started playing you're probably not lvl20 yet.
You can only access GW:EN content after you're lvl20.

street peddler
more armor, more stuff
GloryFox
For the price id wait for it to come down in price to at least 19.95$.
Dungeons are fun
Armor is meh, and the requirement for the armors sucks.
Skills are meh
Grind is required for PvE skills that are useless unless you are willing to spend a phenomenal amount of time grinding for them.
Honestly enjoy Factions instead its better.

EotN primarily sticks to the north half of the map, but is only accessible with lvl 20 characters. It has a whole storyline that takes place years after prophecies with a number of "mission"-like primary quests, as well as a good number of other quests. There are also several dungeons to take on that have rewards when they are completed.
You are introduced to several of the new races that will be playable in GW2. You get access to the Hall of Monuments where you can register certain achievements that will unlock certain things in GW2 (that was vague because we still don't know exactly what will be unlocked).
There are five new titles that you can work towards including reputation with four of the races and a general mastery title based on exploration and quest completion.
If you do not have NF, you will be able to get heroes once you access EotN. They are similar to henchmen except they level as you fight with them and you get to outfit them with weapons and runes and set their skill bars. You can even control their actions if you are very quick with the mouse.
As Glory said, the new armor and skills were not as impressive as people expected, leaving a lot of people dissatisfied with EotN. I personally really enjoy the new quests and dungeons and areas to explore. It also has great scenery. I couldn't care less about the skills or armor sets. The game adds a lot to the gameplay, not a lot to the collectors. Hope that helps.

Also, I'm pretty sure you're able to obtain many of the Elite skills, and maybe even normal skills that come from the two other campaigns, Factions and Nightfall.
Can anyone confirm this is true? I have all the chapters so I can't test it but if he were to try and cap Crippling Slash in EotN would he be able to?
At any rate EotN is a very beautiful expansion that you'll get to eventually and I think you will enjoy. But since you've just started the game I'd just recommend you take it slow and enjoy the game and the scenery. It gets tempting to start rushing through things but you'll really like the game a lot better if you play it at an even pace.
Since you're new I'd also recommend you visit the Guild Wars wikis when you have questions about the game, as they have a lot of information.
One wiki is located at: www.guildwiki.net
and the other is the official wiki that Guild Wars opened a short time ago, it's address is:wiki.guildwars.com
Have fun.
P.S. Also if you ever get stuck or have a question about something feel free to PM me in game when I'm online. My in-game-name is Steve Basnof. Just add name to your friends list and it will show you if I'm online as a different name. I've autisticly memorized almost the entire Guild Wars map and remember most of the quests so I could give you detailed directions to nearly anywhere without even giving it a second thought >.<

Honestly enjoy Factions instead its better. - R4 Asura, Norn ,Ebon Vanguard and R5 Deldrimor by quests/dungeons.
The r4 to r5 reputation gap isn't more, then what you can get by helping friends a bit.
- Some skills are ok at r4/5. Depends as well on what you got and captured in previous campaigns.
- Factions... I think GW:EN is more fun when you are done with Prophecies then continuing with Factions.
