Installation Disk For GW:EN Won't Run
Kale Silvers
Not matter what I do it won't run in my CD drive. I have had problems trying to instal other software so I guessity must be my drive not the disk. I am gonna see if the disk works on a my friends computer. Does anyone have any ideas why it won't run or how to get it to run?
Commander Ryker
You don't need to run the cd. Just enter the key code and go play.

I know I can go just play and I have put the access key in already. I just don't want to go through the long ass loading screens that take forever on my computer. I run at 16fps max.......

It sounds like your drive might be dead or dying. Have you recently tried using other CDs in it?
Furthermore, and pardon me if this is a stupid question, but your drive is a DVD-ROM drive, right? The Eye of the North disc is a DVD-ROM, not a CD-ROM, and won't be recognized at all if your drive only reads CDs.

It won't run in your CD drive because it's a DVD. What you want to do is make a shortcut to the gw.exe. The shortcut should have a target thing that looks like this:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\gw.exe"
You want it to look like this:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\gw.exe" -image
Note the space and -image after the quotes. That will cause it to download every file that you do not have. Once done, use your normal gw.exe and play the game.

50,000+ files....This is gonna take a while....

Well all I know is that I got to 4% which was around 49,000/58,500 files left and my sister said she smelled burning plastic and closed all the programs that were running. I hope it wasen't GW becuase I was doing what Kale said when it happened. Also, I was cooking on the grill tongiht and the window was open xD It could of been the smell of burning coals being swept by the wind through the window.

Of course....if your computer is litterally burning...I think you need to just wait 2 months to get a new one....melting your processor/ram/mobo/vid card is a very bad thing that well..ruins your computer.
If the drive is the only thing not working, buy a new drive. Anything other then that...it means time for upgrade!
