Armor Skill Point Stacking Question
williamhoward
I was involved in a heated debate yesterday on how the new GWEN armor skills stacked up. This seems to be the most misunderstood part of the game for most people as guildwiki does not explain it as far as i can find. For an example if a Dervish is using Avatar Of Balthazar with a plus 40 armor and adds the elemental skill Frigid Armor with a plus 20 to physical damage, does he have plus 60 to physical damage?? The new skill Great Dwarven Armor gives a plus 24 to armor so if used with Frigid Armor which is betweeen 10-34 and lets say you have 20 then against the Great Destroyer do you have a plus 44 to your armor. The debate was on the plus 25 ,so called cap on armor skills. If they stack it would be easy to have a plus 100 armor. If there is a place that explains this already, please send me in the right direction.

From wiki:
"The sum of all armor buffs gained from skills and effects cannot exceed +25. However, if one or more effects add more than +25 armor by themselves (for example +40 from Physical Resistance), then the largest of these effects counts as the total buff, even if it is larger than +25".
Does that help?
Skills stack, but only up to +25. The only way to get more than +25 is if a single skill on its own gives you more than +25 eg. your Avatar of Balthazar with +40
Other skills will not add to that +40... but they COULD replace it, if they provided more than +40 by themselves.

Example 1 (Avatar of Balthazar+Frigid Armor): +40 armor.
Example 2 (Great Dwarven Armor+Frigid Armor): +25 armor.
It is +25 or HIGHEST from effects on your EFFECTS MONITOR. Which means shields, insignia don't get counted toward the cap.

I don't know if it's really effects or just skills, I mean you can get an armor buff from a blessing of Balthazar, does this blessing stack with your avatar of Balthazar having +40+Blessing armor buff? Or just avatar?
Thx.
Thx.

Balthazar doesn't grant armor bonuses, Dwayna and Melandru do. I'd suspect they get hit by the +25 armor cap too, but the only examples the devs gave were skills, so I don't know.

You are right, Balthazar give Armor Penetration instead of armor buff.
