Hi,
I'm looking at getting Guild Wars shortly, but wanted to get some advice on my computer specs.
I'm using a laptop with an integrated Mobility Radeon 7500. On past experience, although this card is only listed as a 32Mb one, it will run games that require 64mb without any problems (Dawn of War being the best example for a new game that runs quite happily).
So I believe that Guild Wars should run playable (with low detail at least). My concern is if Guild Wars has a hard lock on systems that don't meet the minimum requirements?
Does anyone have any experience with a similar graphics card?
Cheers,

I had access to a computer with a Radeon graphics card with 32Mb
A bit newer than 7500 but not much I think
It did not work well at all I'm sorry to say
All the people came out being very shiny (I'm serious here, everyone was very shiny)
It ran very slow, the card simply could not handle it but all the scenery seemed fine for some reason
So I don't really know, I think you'll get shiny people but if that graphics card runs DoW fine it should run at a decent speed . . .
I'm no expert but thats what I got -.-" good luck

Well, at least it loads - unlike some newer software that just gives up.
I'll have a poke around.
Thanks for your time.

i believe the grafic card needs to be able to run DirectX 9.0c to enable you to play this game. correct me if i'm wrong. as for radeon 7500 series, i dont think it has the capability. it will load the game but will be very very jerky.
i'm not familiar with ati series card all my cards to date are nvidia geforce....

Pretty sure I'm running DirectX 9.0c (Just checked my dxdiag).
Other places on the Internet seem to have varying opinions, but the concensus is that it will at least start. Past that it might just be a gamble on the performance.

The Guild Wars FAQ claims the game will run on an "ATI Radeon 8500 or GeForce 3 or 4 MX Series Video Card with 32MB of VRAM". Since the GeForce 4 _MX_ is actually a GeForce 2 (which is pretty much a DirectX 7 card) I suppose the game should sort of run on just about anything with some kind of DirectX-side Transform & Lighting support, whether it's actually done in hardware or not.
I saw the game running once on a laptop with an ATI Radeon Mobility M6, an integrated version of the Radeon 7000. The frame rate was around 7 FPS and it looked like crap, though. Not playable.

Ran GW on my old laptop which has a Mobility Radeon 7500. With the graphics turned way down, it'll run with an average fps of 15. Its not horrible, but its less then desired. You'll be missing out on a lot of great graphics.

dxdiag will always print out what version of directx you have installed. however, it will never take into account whether your card can support it or not.
radeon 7500 is a dx7 card if i'm not mistaken... GW more or less requires a dx8 card. even if it runs, 15 fps is generally not playable, especially if you decide to do any pvp.
