Wondering what others think of this combination, or whether I should buy the chaos gloves instead

Just personal opinion here, which I guess it what you asked for. You look totally ridiculous. The blindfold doesn't match the theme of your armor, nor do the gauntlets. FoW top arm things end above the elbow in a way meant to be continued into something else, so Chaos Gloves would look even more ridiculous.

Maybe I'll just revert back to standard FoW armor and glowy floating glittering dust around my head :P...

I'd have to agree with MrSlayer, it really doesn't match that well.
besides the canthan heagear for eles is one of the better headgears there is :P
(Altough for fire ele's destroyer gloves would fit the theme imo, but they don't match to well with everything)

I actually like the blindfold, but I don't like the dragon gloves.

The blindfold looks pretty cool, in my opinion. The dragon gauntlets on the other hand look like over sized novelty gloves, they just look ridiculous. Male Warriors are the only class that can pull them off without looking like a joke, but even then, it's pretty tacky looking.

Sums my thoughts.. i just dont like the oversized dragongloves ... theyre shape also seems so .. weird.. like you cant hold things anymore XD

Blindfold suits it well IMO give off the Neo feeling 
. However I agree lose the dragon gloves and stick with the full set of fow. Chaos will leave a gap between your exisiting armour. Spend your saved ecto's on fow ele gloves.
