What keeps you playing Guild Wars?
Vinraith
Because it's the best action RPG on the market at present, despite the flaws inherent to being an online game.

This is not a rant and I’m not dissing Anet or GW. I’ve been playing GW almost exclusively for over two years. I think I’m just burned out and need a break. |
I log on every day, stare at the screen, have no motivation to play and logg off.
What keeps me playing is the people i play with. I enjoy helping, and playing through GW with the friends i made. I kinda shunned my characters i made because i cant get the motivation to take them through the same campaign over and over and over again. I was overly hyped about GWEN because i was hoping for this awesome game to revitalize my play. But i was rather dissappointed. So helping and working through the game with someone else has kept me playing and enjoying the game.

Well hmm, why do i like Guild Wars?
1. Its is like the only good free mmorpg
2. It requires more thought and skill with the low lvl cap and eight skill builds.
3. The technical side: It is built for slow connections aka dialup. And i love the fact that updates are very small. The lag issue and updates are main reasons i dont play games like WoW or EQ, plus WoW just sucks anyway...EQ dunno, ive only seen that game played by brothers.
4. Social community.
5. A wide variety of quests and types of quests.
6. Instanced world...Well that can go both ways (good or bad)
7. It also just has a lot of creative things. ex: Story line, the gods, solo AI peeps, its not the normal MMORPG you always see...IT IS DIFFERENT and UNIQUE.
Well! Thats it in a nutshell.

I plan on finishing GWEN, then taking a break for a couple of months.
When I come back, I still need to finish Nightfall, and get Protector in Nightfall and Factions (if I feel like it).
Or maybe I'll just collect more armor. Who knows? That's why I need to take a break.

Alliance Battles, Random Arenas, and PvE call to me about three to four hours per night.
I think addiction holds it all together.

Phantom Gun
A mix of things really. No monthly fee, the story, and a number of other things that make it better then a typical f2p grindfest. Ofcourse I do have my nights when I log in and stare at the screen for awhile because i'm not motivated to do anything. I don't know even with GW:EN, although I enjoyed it, it all feels the same to me. I spent to much time grinding titles, and trying to make money before GW:EN came out I kinda burned myself out.
Right now i'm mainly prepping for GW2. However i'm trying to break up the title grind by doing other things this time since we have a long time before it comes out. I'm thinking about getting into movie making.

The people I've met on here is the only thing keeping me on here.

The thing that keeps me playing is mainly this games ability to remove me from my everyday reality and allow me to role play with little thought for however long I want to, be it an hour or six. I love it.

FARMING!! I love getting rare drops and high end equipment. Much better than just taking 10 slightly different characters through the same storyline.
Title grind/GW2 prep/destroyer wep grind

the lack of a better mmo keeps me plaing gw. i tried wow and i didn't like the style. so far gw seems to be the most balanced pvp wise. i only hope sum1 will release a better game because i'm quite bored of this. i rly enjoyed gw in both pve and pve but the changes that happened in pvp after nightfall and the failure of gwen (at least in my opinion) made me sick of it. i'm waiting to see fury and warhammer

I really don't know what keeps me playing =/
I mean, I have never had a good guild (except once when I was in Halo.. but I left after I was demoted... biggest mistale ever).
I have only one RL friend that play (not very often..) and maybe 10 (?) in-game friends (of which 2-3 quit).
I have Kind Of A Big Deal but I really don't want to grind any titles nowadays.
I only use HM for farming..
Yet I keep comming back.. I guess I just love wasting my precious time joining PuGs and having fun!

I keep playing because its free. When I'm bored, instead of staring at a computer desktop I stare at my GW character in the guild hall.
Um Yeah
Not sure. Past several months it was to talk to guildmates, but a few of them have quit so I talk to them through other means. I join other guilds to pvp every once in awhile, and while I still enjoy GW pvp, its obviously not nearly as fun without the same group of guys I used to play with. Other than that, I'm a closet pve'r at heart, and waste time doing that and browsing forums that hold nearly no value anyway.
So yeah, I guess it's just something to waste time with and talk to people that don't have/are too lazy to get xfire, especially in the winter.

I was bored..till GW:EN came out. The nightly dungeon crawl with Guildmates keeps me going, that and the casual GvG.
