Which char should I make my main?

I have a bit of a dilemma.

I want to choose ONE character to continue playing with, because I feel that putting time in several characters doesn't get me any further into the game. I don't want to work on the same title with different chars either.

So the question is... Which one to choose?

-
My warrior is my oldest one, with about 400 hours into him. He's completed Tyria, Cantha, and started Elona. He's got several titles halfway but nothing important.
In PVP, I love playing a warrior. Its something I also enjoy in PVE, and I'm really good at playing warrior. It's certainly a class I love.

I have several sets of 15k armor and HEAPS of weapons for him.
Thing is, I think I"m screwed if I ever want to get into a group, for a mission or an elite area for example. Warriors aren't exactly the most wanted class :S

-

My Ranger. Have about 500 hours in him, he has protector of tyria, got cantha and elona completed and explored for a large part.
Have an equal amount of titles, again, not something I paid attantion to before.
My ranger has done A LOT, has one set of 15k armor and a complete set of bows for every situation. Has a spider, has MANY skills, almost all ranger elites and
he's wanted and suited for every imagineable situation. I just don't like bows that much and I REALLY don't like the skills..... I feel like all I do in PvE is spam barrage and all I do in PVP is spam burning arrow...
I'm also not that good at rangering compared to many top rangers.

-

My necro. Has enough hours, skills and equipment but not NEARLY as much as my warrior or ranger. I really love necro skills and their looks, and I think everyone wants them in a group. Im kinda good at this one but I lack experience here. Necros are just awesome but I'm not *really* a caster kinda guy. I think.

So what should I do???????? Shocked Shocked Shocked Which one should I take to the next life? Or should I start a freakin DERVISH?
Monk, assassin, rit and mesmer are out of the question. So is paragon btw.

If you like H/H'ing, defenitely keep warrior.
If you prefer doing with PUG's, try either necro or ele, since they're the most wanted. Ritualists or Para's are great as well, can be changed from very defensive to very aggresive in a fly.

Make a new character and attempt Legendary Survivor or Defender of Ascalon.

Any other title can be done and re-attempted. Or, just use the one you enjoy the most.

Try a class most people don't do and learn how to H/H with that class. But that's basically all the professions you said were out of the question. :S

Warrior would probably be easiest to take to GW2 (I assume that's what you mean by the "next life"), especially since you have the most experience with him. I have about as many hours on my mesmer and plan on taking him to GW2 since I know how to use him the best. So it really depends on what you want to do in later on.

Agree with Onarik. You could start a new char and leave the others for farming when you need cash, it really all depends on what you want to do with the current game.

Keep the character you really feel the more at ease at playing and the one you feel the most attached to and dont care about what class it is.

EDIT : instead of at ease I should say"that is the most fun to play".

From what you say you dont like ranger (too bad after doing so much with it), even if you had a couple of very fun build to try it i think it'd still not be worth a main. So consider it an alt.

Also, you dont seem like to really be a caster type, so the necro dont seem like to be the choice for you. And your refusal of mesmers, rit & co seems to proove that.

So i think you're left with the warrior, by what you say it has everything to be a main char (and is even wanted in groups). From your speech you look like a warrior player. About trying a derv... Honestly they get on my nerve and I think if you started any class now you wouldn't make it your (permanent) main, added to the fact that specialist class are more restricted than core class (armor, weapon and skill-wise, NF classes above all others). But if you want to spend a bit of time trying one, it may make you change your mind.

I think the problem is that he doesn't want to learn to play one, or he tried and just doesn't like hit'n'run-ing.

I have done the samething and play mostly P vs E but I've kept two characters and not just one. The game has gotten far too big to play 8 characters through the entire game and all chapters. I'd focus on which ever one you enjoy playing the most. It's a game..... pick what you enjoy the most not what others think you should be playing.

No Fun = Why even play

One good way I've come across to determine what you really want to do is this...

Assign each option to a value on a die, and roll it. If you find yourself wanting to take 'best of X' or something like that, that's not the option you wanted and you can eliminate it. Repeat until your random system generates an option you accept or you only have one left. (The original source specified flipping a coin to choose between two options, but the principle still stands.)

That said, it sounds like the Warrior is the one you actually want to play, so I'd be inclined to suggest taking that one if you're going to focus on just one - since chances are it'll be a warrior you'd be looking to play in GW2, so you might as well inherit from one. Sounds like he already has the most investment in the form of armour as well.

Agree - Play what you like to play.

Out of all the classes, I love ele, so with the amount of time and the Hall of Monuments unlocks.. I decided to make my Ele my primary and only character (for HoM unlocks) and just focus on her.

The problem is, I have a lot in common with many classes.

IRL I like to run around with a rifle and enjoy nature...
Thats my ranger part.

Warrior? I'm disciplined and have the strength to accomplish things. Love to smash things :P

Necro? I have this obsession with skeletons and zombies oO

Ele? I like to blow things up . I like fire magic.

Dervish? This whole holy desert warrior really appeals to me. I just don't know what a dervish has to offer. Is it a class I can do ANYTHING with, like with a monk or a ranger?

Ive tried all other profs, didn't like them.

In terms of variations in gameplay, ie play styles, I'd sday that warriors and rangers have the best.

My personal choice would be warrior, ranger, then assassin. If you want stimulating gameplay, monk would be good too =P.

Playing a monk with heroes is annoying and boring.
And no one PuG anymore.

To be honest the most fun I've had on a character is a split between my necro and my rit. I suspect it says something about my personality (liking summoned creatures to do my dirty work.)

Right now I'm all about my rit. I'll probably finish taking my necro through Nightfall after the rit goes through GWEN. The necro has been my money maker by far. I hit my first 1K plat with her and she's still a source of income. The rit can earn her keep too, but I mostly just PVE w/ her and have the necro to farm.

I think two characters is manageable to do for all the chapters.

I think you underestimate the use of warriors in groups. A good tank is esential for most elite groups. I would say go with the warrior.

But my unbiased opinion would be to play each one for 10 hours. Then, pick the one you had the most fun with over that 10 hours.

I think that's the saddest part of HoM. In terms of getting unlocks, it is forcing people into only getting them for one character. However Gaile has said that only one character in GW2 will benefit from your GW1 PC unlocks on a one for one basis.

That along with the increased level cap are really going to hurt the diversity of classes people play. You aren't maxxed in GW2? No luck at getting pugs for you. No GW1 unlocks on that character? You weren't elite enough in the first game so you definately won't be elite enough in GW2.

I had the same dilemma.. I had to choose between my ele or my warrior... In the end I went with elementalist and I don't regret it. I am almost at 1k hours on my ele My warrior has 600h, ranger 300, etc etc

Anyway, to answer your question, I would go with something non-repetitive.. warriors can many different types of builds so I would go with that. And if you can't find groups, start your own? I have been doing that lately.

I used to refuse to make a sin just out of spite. Finally gave in about a year ago and its one of my favorite classes. However, lately I've been playing my Warrior a ton, but I have the most hours one my Ranger....well damn not helping am I? (I play all my chars [one of each] and don't have too much trouble getting things done)

Yeah, I have the same issue. My warrior has always been my main character, but lately i'm finding that I can't do a lot of stuff with my warrior so I've kinda switched over to my Elementalist.

I enjoy going into Urgoz Warren - Sorry, Warriors aren't Welcomed.
I enjoy Tombs - Sorry, Warriors aren't Welcomed
I enjoy the Deep - Well, warriors are needed, but I find the typical Warrior build there hard to manage, so I prefer my Ele in The Deep.

That's also going to have the effect of focusing on just one character on gw2 sad to say as well. With the hours I have to play, I'm having enough trouble as it is getting HoM unlocks with my ele, let alone my other character(s). I'm starting to work on my 3rd prestige set of armor. Not sure what I'm going to do when I only have Vabian and Fow left. Destroyer weapons cost a pretty penny as well. 5 of 25 hero's armor unlocked...

If you're going to H/H then a warrior is easiest. A human can body block and corner trap while flagging the ranged support back. It's much harder to manuever a hero or hench so they stand in exactly the right place rather than charge once an enemy gets into aggro of them.

If you want to pug, it's probably easiest to be a necro. MM, SS, BiP etc, there's lots of things that you can do that are wanted.

If you play with friends and guildies than play whatever class you enjoy.

You can spread yourself over all the chars you like, it all depends on what goals you really have in mind.

If your after the titles then go with the War or Ranger, both are good though the war may be easier to find parties with.

If you just want to have a little fun, try every profession at least till the char reaches lvl 20. One good idea I use to keep from losing all my funds is that when I make a new char I do not open up storage for them untill they have max armor and weapons. After that they are just building money up in storage unless I wish to buy some vanity item for them.

only play what you enjoy. i have 3 main characters that are all for doing different things title wise.

my warrior (oldest, the champ), has almost every 15k armor/elite armor in the game, and a ton of the lower sets too. he has People Know Me, and im working on the next level. he has way too many weapons, and uses a mule just for his junk.

my paragon... really well set up equipment wise, and while only have 3 maxed titles, has Obsidian and Vabbian, and i really enjoy playing him.

and my sin, the campaign monster. he's who i use to dominate pve with my fav human/hero build ever. he's close to PKM as well, and i love breaking the "sins suck" stereotype.

i only call what i like my main class. do what you do best, and do it well.

If a mesmer is out of the question then I'd say use one of your already established lesser classes rather than take the time to develop something else inferior to a mesmer. Probably the warrior... there's always the need for mindless meat.
