Run your own server!

I whas thinking (yes i can think ^^)
Would Anet give us a copy off our account data iff GW(1) is no more.
And allow us to run our own sever.
Couse i would be nice iff they did when the time is there.
Or anyways sell us the privlage to run our own stuff, couse i enjoy the game so much it would be ashame to let my account go to waste.
What do you guys think.

the problem is that the 'if' in your post could spawn a discussion totally irrelevant to your original post, so it would seriously be better not to consider this idea until Anet have said "we may be thinking of closing our servers to GW1." which they have said will not be happening. It may be a good idea 'if' that time comes, but not now.

That means that you may use there sever rights how they are made not how you seem fit to use them

But if I had the server rights, I could tweak the content right? Remove loot scaling +allow full hero parties?

GW isnt a single player game, much less having access to change things in an online enviroment

Why do people who want to play single player games play GW?

GW might not shut down, but two years from now no one will be playing it.

I would rather play GW as a single player with 7 heroes yes. But unfortunately I cant. Updates can become patches XD

yes you are right about that but the privlage means that you may tweak within the lines that the publiser allows you to tweak.

Oh, and un-nerf the armor stacking, and stoneflesh aura and Ether renewal durations for me XD. I will pay you the going monthly rate for MMO's.

Supposedly Anet has some pretty good security guarding their code. Though maybe by now someone has figured out how to get around it and decypher their code (if it needs it). I know WoW has some "rogue" servers that aren't blizzard supported but I haven't actually heard of a GW one yet.

yes there is some. and now you've heard it they've been out awhile now.

I think its safe to say most MMOs have a community that runs private servers... usually highly against the EULA and possibly illegal as well. If GW shut down, I think its extremely unlikely Anet would "allow" people to run their own servers for it, but I am quite confident people would anyway.
