Skill Capping Question
greywolf31
Hi All,
I don't know if this has been asked or not, but my searches didn't turn up what I want to know.
Is there a way to Cap Elite Factions skills without having the Factions expansion?
I am trying to setup different builds and of course most of them have one or more Factions skills elite or not.
Does anyone know if there is a posted list of capturable Factions skills from Nightfall or EoN NPC Bosses?
LMK and THX
Todd
EDIT: FYI - I have all but the Factions expansion.

You can cap them, but you can't use them. So even if you cap them, it's for nothing. Sorry.

Some factions skills are avalible in eotn as far as i know, however capping (or otherwise getting) a skill in a campain you dont own wont let you use it, it will show up "locked" similar as to when you bring a pve skill to pvp.

Thanks for the quick reply...
Ok, so last night I capped Fireball, so It really isn't working when I use it?
It takes energy and runs it's timer, but it dosen't work?
LMK and Thanks

Just to put a spanner in the works...if you cap lets say a faction only skills from NF/GWEN though you cannot use it if you dont own GW:F does it count towards skill hunter title?

I capped both Fireball and MoM from Captain Mwende (Consulate Docks Mission)
I now have the "Canthan Elite Skill Hunter - 1/120" in my Hero Panel
-T
EDIT: I also capped Lightning Surge as well but it is core.

Smile Like Umean It
Am I missing something?
Forget about whether it's locked or not, how is he going to cap a skill when he can't switch to /A or /Rit?
At least the last time I checked, you couldn't change your secondary unless you had the corresponding campaign.
Unless he's asking about elite skills from core professions that are also located in other campaigns. In which case, disregard this post.... though technically, I wouldn't consider them Factions' skills if they could be gotten else where.
*sigh* My semantics will confuzzle me soon.

So to recap, and see if I got this straight...
If I cap any Factions skill (or skill from a expansion not owned) it will not work, but I will have it.
Any Elite skill that is in multiple expansions will show in it's respective title track regardless if you own that expansion.
And finally if you don't have a particular expansion you cannot change to that expansion's respective char class/s as a secondary.

Well it looks as though I need to drop $40.00 for Factions.
Thanks All!

Actually, suppose you have no elite skills. Then you go and cap something called a "core elite". This means that you can obtain it in any campaign. All three title tracks will then show up indicating that you have capped 1 skill from each campaign.
Most elite skills (and many regular skills), however, are not core skill (universally available skills). If you manage to obtain one in EotN that is designated to a specific campaign which you do not own, it will show up as locked in your skill list. Whether it counts towards your title progression is irrelevant until you own the corresponding campaign. The reason for this is as was said above. You cannot switch to the Rt or A secondaries to obtain any of their elites. But if you purchase the campaign, it will be counted towards that title track.
I think factions is worth it. All of my favorite elites I capped in Cantha.
